However, we are not wired to re-connect with people; this is the challenge many couples face at all stages of life. Reconnection isn't discussed enough, but a subject we will be covering. It is common for couples to fight, we all do it at some point in relationships, but the capacity to repair is what matters. It does not matter how many times you argue; as long as you and your partner can repair the relationship is the key to a long-lasting relationship. Today wedding planning is more complicated than ever; couples are surrounded by an abundance of pressure to have the perfect day; social media and the internet are responsible for the added pressure. Social media portrays the best part of the day, never the worst, and believe us, even if your wedding goes as planned, there will still be some challenging moments throughout the day. The best way to handle this craziness is to keep it all in perspective! When planning a wedding, do not be surprised if you hit a few bumps along the way. Thankfully, Dr. Carrington has some advice to help you navigate the wedding planning process. Her advice is to seek to understand to be understood. Many couples are overwhelmed with outside opinions from family and friends about their big day. It is best to listen to those ideas as people feel they have skin in the game and want to be acknowledged. Even though you take the time to listen, do not feel obligated to accommodate. Dr. Carrington has tips on how to manage this stress and how to ensure your partner feels heard. Your wedding day is going to be stressful- it is a given. To cope with this stress, ensure you make time to be present and don't miss it. Wedding days are often chaotic but making a conscious effort to slow down and take it all in is a memory you won't forget. Dr. Carrington talks about her wedding day and how she ensured to be present and enjoyed the day. She also offers the best advice she was given on her wedding day that's she shares with couples. Many couples feel the pressure before their wedding, the term cold feet came to be for a reason- and is perfectly normal. Couples often wonder if couples therapy is the answer, and this episode discusses just that. It is ok to be unsure- it is important to realize what happens the next day after feeling that doubt. Dr. Carrington goes into this doubt and how to handle it Dr. Carrington's advice for a healthy relationship comes down to a few big questions to ask your partner.
