“When ‘Sweet' Feels Cringe: Love Languages, Lake Travis Chaos & a Bridesmaid at 60 You Won't Forget” What if the sweetest compliment you could give your partner made them want to “turn themselves inside out”? That's exactly where this episode of The JB and Sandy Show kicks off—diving headfirst into one of the most hilariously unconventional “love languages” you'll ever hear. JB, Sandy, and Tricia unpack a relationship dynamic that flips romance on its head… where affection sounds more like discomfort—and somehow, it works. Then things take a jaw-dropping turn with a real-life story straight out of an action movie (minus the good decisions). A pilot buzzing boats on Lake Travis pushes things too far, leaving everyone asking: when does showing off cross the line into reckless? The fallout is wild—but the unexpected twist? The very people he startled end up rescuing him. Listeners also weigh in on what makes a relationship healthy—and not everyone agrees that traditional romance is the answer. One caller drops a perspective that might completely shift how you think about long-term love: “You're not faking it… you're just being yourselves.” And just wait until you meet JB's sister, Chris. She absolutely steals the show with a story that proves life doesn't slow down at 60—it just gets better. From being a bridesmaid decades later to her unforgettable one-liners, including, “For a fat girl like me, this is the golden ticket of Willy Wonka,” you'll be laughing the entire way through. Plus: A surprising stat about first dates that might make you rethink your next dinner outing A nostalgic (and slightly awkward) look at restaurant culture making a comeback And one painfully funny story about a first date meal that went very wrong

The squad is losing it over Dak Prescott allegedly being caught with his ex's bridesmaid at a bullfight just months after their relationship "didn't make it off the dock". We hit a wild Homie Helpline for Jimmy, whose 11-year-old was caught searching "hot girls" on the family TV, leading to a hilarious debate on whether a cake-filled "spicy function" presentation is the move. Don't You Know I'm Local, so we're saving your wallet with $1 summer movie deals at Regal while investigating Pete Davidson's "deadbeat" allegations after his baby mama whispered her frustrations on TikTok. We're also twerking for our mental health after a new study claims dancing beats anti-depressants and reacting to the terrifying "crack" of a fan getting hit by a foul ball while taking a selfie. A new book provides both a candid and humorous insights to help bridesmaids set boundaries, manage emotional and financial stress, and support their friends without losing themselves in the process. Ruhama Wolle loves weddings, but after being a bridesmaid three times in a little more than a year, she reached a breaking point. The financial and emotional burden was too much, and in an article for Glamour magazine, she publicly resigned from ever being a bridesmaid again. Now, Wolle has written “I Hope You Elope: A Bridesmaid Survival Guide,” with practical tips on how to navigate the ask with authenticity, honesty and boundaries. In this episode of “Modern Love,” Wolle tells host Anna Martin about the bridesmaid dynamics that made her call it quits. I have been fascinated by today's guest ever since I came across a profile piece about her when I was working at Refinery29. I never got the chance to film a Lucie for Hire episode with her back then, but when we recently put a casting call out for people who have interesting jobs, Jen wrote in and the rest is history.Jen Glantz is a bridesmaid for hire. Brides from all over the country and beyond pay her to show up to their wedding, stand in the bridal party, and be the supportive best friend they needs on their big day. She attends engagement parties, bachelorette trips, and bridal showers. She memorizes a fake name, a fake backstory, and every detail of the bride's life so she can blend in seamlessly. In most cases, not even the person the bride is marrying knows she's been hired. What started as a half-joking Craigslist ad posted on a frustrated Friday night has become Jen's full-time business, with packages starting at $2,500, an hourly rate of around $200, and a team of bridesmaids she can send when she's double-booked. She's worked over 100 weddings since 2014 and the stories she has from those weddings are absolutely wild.In this episode, we talk about the many reasons why brides actually hire her; what the job really involves, the craziest things she's witnessed on the job, the ethics of the whole thing, and the emotional whiplash of stepping back into real life after a weekend undercover.I was absolutely riveted by this conversation and I think you will be too. And whether you could ever do something like this yourself or not, I promise you'll be thinking about it long after the episode ends.Find Jen:www.bridesmaidsforhire.comwww.jenglantz.comwww.instagram.com/jenglantz/Watch this episode in video form on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjmevEcbh5h5FEX0pazPEtN86t7eb2OgX To apply to be a guest on the show, visit luciefink.com/apply and send us your story. Joey wondered if his knees hurt because it’s cold or because he’s old. It was only 8 degrees this morning! Yesterday, Nancy saw a coyote chasing a skunk down her iced-over road. She thinks it was a redneck omen of sorts. A guy in Canada opened a museum full of people’s failures. Pieces included a divorced woman’s wedding dress, someone’s dead plant, and more. We joked about some of Nancy’s failures, such as her kid’s cussing, her blender obsession, and one of her businesses. Nancy then poked at Joey’s “helicopter parenting.” Joey came back and made fun of her baby talk voice she uses with her grandson. Nancy’s dad keeps having to go to his friends’ funerals. At what age does this become normal? Hot Tea: Morgan Wallen, HARDY, Tim McGraw, and Eric Church put up similar cryptic posts on their social media pages. What does it mean? People think the NFL rigged the Super Bowl due to a post from back in September that had the two teams’ quarterbacks in the front of the image. A man stole a full-sized harp, took his clothes off, jumped in a river, and had to be rescued before he was arrested. We all watched Alex Honnold climb Taipei 101, the skyscraper over the weekend. It made Joey’s palms sweat. Joey showed Nancy some other dangerous stunt videos to get her reaction. Joey’s 9-year-old keeps sneezing really loud, and he thinks that he learned it from his mom. Joey keeps trying to make him sneeze at least a little quieter. Karly says that sneezing sounds are learned, and people that speak other languages don’t say “achoo” when sneezing. Lucky 7 for $50 to the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants The weather over the weekend was not as bad as expected, but people don’t need to be hating on the meteorologists! Joey was most upset that his electric snow shovel didn’t come in the mail. Group Therapy – How Do I Get Out of Being a Bridesmaid for a Girl I Barely Know? Hey friend — welcome to our latest People's Court episode where we dive into an Am I the Asshole post about a 19-year-old bridesmaid who finally got her ears pierced and wore one-inch silver hoops to her sister's wedding, only to be called "trashy" and accused of disrespecting the bride. Spoiler: we're not surprised by how wild this got. We walk through why that reaction felt wildly over the top — the bridesmaid is an adult making a small, tasteful choice, and calling your sibling trashy at your wedding? Cold. We compare it to the exact opposite energy of chill brides who gift matching earrings and set clear, reasonable boundaries, and we laugh (a little cruelly) about how dramatic family weddings can be. Have your own juicy wedding drama? The uncle who threw up, the brother-in-law who got handsy, or the cousin who caused a scene — we want to hear it. Send us your stories at truecrimesagainstwine@gmail.com or find us on TikTok and Instagram — we'll read the best ones on the show and might even send you some swag. Pour a drink, settle in, and let's judge some people together — because honestly, it's way more fun from the guest table.
Ep. 364: Live at Metrograph! Mark Asch on Eight Hours of Terror, Marty Supreme, Ella McCay, The Bridesmaid, and more Welcome to The Last Thing I Saw, with your host, Nicolas Rapold. On a recent wintry night, I was delighted to record a very special episode of the podcast at Metrograph in front of a living, breathing audience. Joining me for this adventure was critic Mark Asch, a friend of the pod and my editor many years ago. We first talked about the movie that the audience had just watched, Seijun Suzuki's Eight Hours of Terror, a 1957 treat plucked from a previous conversation on The Last Thing I Saw. Our discussion first followed our Lower East Side setting by starting with Marty Supreme (directed by Josh Safdie) and then onto other December films, including The Bridesmaid (Paul Feig) and Ella McCay (James L. Brooks). Thank you to Metrograph and their devoted team for all their assistance and hospitality in hosting this special recording of The Last Thing I Saw. Dr. Naomi shares a story about her son and a female classmate that has her mom antennas up and she and Jordana discuss the developing “relationship” between the two little ones.
