Jon didn't start shooting clay targets competitively until he was 22 years old. 203,000 registered targets later he was able to win the US Open 8 times, was on the All American team 23 times and won 7 team gold medals shooting for Team USA. Jon was also the first inductee to the NSCA Hall of Fame in 1998 and shot on the PSCA for 2 years. After Jon's accident in 1989, he went on to win 40 straight tournaments that lasted about 13 months. He is definitely a legend in American sporting clays and is still coaching today. We were so glad to be able to talk with him and look forward to the next one.

And we turned to the Snowman Gods and said, “Not Today!” After Jon tried to lose his file at the final moments of the episode, we were able to reclaim it from the depths of an alternate dimension and reassemble it into an episode! The film is the 2001 cult classic Donnie Darko. Directed by Richard Kelly and picked by Ben, we try and come to grips with this movie 20 years later, and I think we all agree we might not be quite as high on it as we were in our younger years. Still, plenty to discuss, Kelly is obviously talented, and it is a shame he hasn’t made anything in a decade; no matter his post Darko track record. Download. Listen. Enjoy. Jon Manning started Arthur Ellis in 2017, naming this movement after his Grandfathers. Arthur Manning and Ellis Graham. Ellis suffered with Schizoaffective Disorder. Without anyone knowing how to deal with this enduring illness, Ellis deteriorated to the degree where he sadly spent most of his life in hospital. After Jon suffered with a mental illness for 20 years without being able to access meaningful support, he decided to set up Arthur Ellis to change the way we see and support mental health. To ensure that we create a culture where if someone is experiencing any difficulties, we individually have the knowledge to practically help. In this episode Jon shares his on story and struggling with mental health and how one incident changed the way he viewed how to manage his mental health. He now uses his journey and message to help others with his lead role at Arthur Ellis: Mental Health Support. He does this by training schools, businesses and other organisations in the use of evidence-based, practical tools, strategies and methods to improve mental health directly, alleviating pressures on the services and creating a country that is #IndependentFromIllness. Over the last few years, we have seen a huge increase of referrals into specialist mental health services which are now unable to cope. Referrals have increased by 300% in some areas of the country. Alongside a lack of funding, around 75% of children and young people that are referred are denied from accessing these services. There simply isn't room! So why are we relying on signposting?? 10% of children and young people between the ages of 5 and 16 years old have a diagnosable mental health problem but 70% are unable to access the appropriate intervention. With 50% of mental health issues being established by the time our children are 14, early intervention is key. This lack of support or lengthy wait for support leads to mental health issues getting further embedded as we grow older with 75% of mental health conditions established by 24 years old. With over 110,000 children in this position of not accessing help last year, Arthur Ellis are improving the mental health of children and young people in the UK with our 1:1 Mentoring service which provides children with 8 sessions of 1:1 support with a qualified and trained Mentor. Where we can help that child or young person learn positive strategies and discuss their issues to help them long term into adolescents or even adulthood. We want our service to be there for these children and families within 48 hours of receiving their referral and to develop into a free, nationwide support system for these children and families who are currently unable to access help. In addition to providing companies with our training and support, we support adults with paid sessions which fund children's sessions. We also work with amazing companies and organisations to sponsor children that we work with to ensure they get meaningful support when they need it! An also and award-winning Social Entrepreneur, Keynote Speaker and normal chap changing the way the nation sees, prevents, manages and supports mental ill health. In this week's episode of "The MindSide Podcast" Dr. Bhrett McCabe takes a look back at three of the best podcasts over the last few years.  We decided to give you a "Best Of" because next week we're launching a whole new podcast called "Exploring the MindSide". We think you're going to like it.  Picking the best three was tough, but this is what we narrowed it down to.  First up is Jon Gordon. Jon is a best-selling author and motivational speaker. He loves sharing the value of positivity and the impact that it can have on your life.    After Jon we have Brandon Sneed. Brandon is a writer for Bleacher Report as well as CNN. He's also a published author with his book ‘Head in the Game'. He gives some of his insights on our minds and the effects that our daily lives can have on the way we think.   After Brandon we have the guys from Mindpump. Sal Di Stefano, Adam Schafer, and Justin Andrews have over 40 years of combined experience in different areas of the fitness world. Their goal is to showcase great people doing great things in the fitness industry. This podcast is edgy and it does have a little foul language. That makes it raw. We hope you enjoy it.   Those are just some of the guests we've had on the MindSide podcast over the last few years. We hope you enjoyed listening to this “best of” edition. Don't forget, next week, the new revamped version of the Mindside podcast will debut. We think you're gonna like it. Thanks for listening.   For more information on The MindSide: Sports and Performance Psychology please visit: www.themindside.com
