Cameron Hörst recently completed the hardest route of his climbing career: Big Bone (5.15a/9a+), a king line out Utah's massive Fynn Cave. What makes his first ascent especially compelling isn't just the grade—it's the journey. Big Bone was a project that demanded years of training, 60+ working goes and redpoint attempts, countless setbacks, and a level of patience few climbers ever develop. In this episode of the Training for Climbing Podcast, Cameron  unpacks the entire process. We dive into the physical, mental, and tactical challenges of working a multi-year project, the breakthroughs that finally moved the needle, and the lessons any climber can apply to their own long-term goals—whether you're projecting 5.10 or 5.15. One of the most fascinating takeaways is that the breakthrough wasn't a sudden gain in finger strength or power. Instead, it came from years of accumulated training adaptations, comprehensive energy system development, improved recovery, refined tactics, and learning when not to climb. Cameron shares how he finally broke through a plateau that had stalled his progress for multiple seasons. In this episode of the Grow A Small Business Podcast, host Troy Trewin interviews Alex Davids, founder of Next Evolution Performance, built a global neuroscience coaching business across 15 countries helping CEOs and executives achieve sustainable high performance and prevent burnout. Starting with a psychology background, she identified a gap where executives had no real support beyond being told to "take time off." After scaling to 40 coaches, she made the bold decision to step away, allowing a licensee to buy the business before rebuilding it stronger and more sustainably. Alex shares powerful insights on growing through referrals, genuine LinkedIn outreach, and the importance of daily self-review in both business and life. Her parting advice to every business owner — keep it fun, remember why you started, and trust that you can do it. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? Alex Davids shares that the hardest part of growing a small business is staying in it, believing you can do it, and trusting that it is worth it — a feeling most business owners would deeply relate to. The grind is invisible to the outside world; customers see the success but nobody sees the early mornings, cash flow stress, and lonely decisions that come with building something from scratch. Most people quit too early, not because their idea was bad, but because self-doubt becomes louder than the vision, making belief a daily choice every entrepreneur must consciously make. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Alex Davids shares that her favourite business book is "4000 Weeks" by Oliver Burkeman, a profound read that sits on the edge of business, productivity, and life. The book's core message is that humans have on average 4,000 weeks to live, and every time we find tools to become more productive — from microwaves to AI — we simply backfill that saved time with more work rather than reclaiming it for what truly matters. Alex found this deeply relevant to her work with executives, as it challenges the endless productivity chase and forces the reader to ask the most important question of all Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Alex Davids shares that one of her favourite podcasts is Tim Ferriss, whom she has followed since before podcasting was even a big deal, appreciating how he has evolved from the hardcore "Four Hour Work Week" mindset to exploring what truly matters in life and business. She also highly recommends Consulting Success, a community and resource platform out of Canada specifically designed to help consultants build successful businesses, offering incredible tools, community support, and a critical eye on growth strategies. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Alex Davids shares that the one tool she would recommend right now is Whisper Flow, an AI dictation tool that she describes as absolutely game changing for small business owners. It allows you to think out loud and dictate your thoughts into anything, turning spoken ideas into polished and meaningful content with ease. Beyond tools, she strongly recommends finding a group, team, or community that provides regular reflection and review support, specifically highlighting Consulting Success out of Canada as an incredible resource that has delivered huge value to her own business through its tools, community, and structured approach to helping consultants grow successfully. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Alex Davids shares that the advice she would give herself on day one of starting out in business is beautifully simple yet deeply powerful — keep it fun, remember why you started, and trust that you can do it. After 19 years of building a global business, stepping away, rebuilding, and navigating every challenge that comes with entrepreneurship, she believes that staying connected to your original purpose and maintaining a sense of joy in the work is what ultimately keeps you going through the toughest moments. It is a reminder that success is not just about the destination but about enjoying and believing in the journey every single day.  Book a 20-minute Growth Chat with Troy Trewin to see if you qualify for our upcoming course. High-stakes sales puts pressure on the mind before it tests the deal strategy. Reps and leaders have to stay present through judgment, rejection, complex stakeholders, and the weight of the number. Dr. Michael Gervais joins John Kaplan and John McMahon to unpack FOPO, the fear of other people's opinions, and its impact on executive presence, listening, trust, and decision-making. Drawing from his work with Olympians, world champions, Fortune 100 leaders, and elite teams, Dr. Gervais explains how mental skills like awareness, breathing, self-talk, imagery, and honest team dynamics help people operate with more clarity under pressure. The conversation brings performance psychology into the realities of enterprise sales, where long cycles, executive buyers, and high-consequence conversations demand discipline before the moment arrives. Dr. Michael Gervais is a performance psychologist, the founder of Finding Mastery, host of the Finding Mastery podcast, co-creator of the Performance Science Institute at the University of Southern California, and author of The First Rule of Mastery: Stop Worrying About What People Think of You. But very few conversations explore what happens after you win… when the pressure rises, expectations grow, and your nervous system starts carrying more than it was ever designed to hold.In this episode, I unpack the hidden cost of success—and the skill that matters most if you want to sustain it: the ability to stay in the game.Using sport as a powerful metaphor for long-term performance, we look at the mindset behind elite consistency. Roger Federer is a perfect example—becoming one of the greatest of all time while losing nearly half the points he played, simply by staying present and focusing on the next shot. From there, we explore the real divide I see with high performers:The outer game — strategy, growth, resultsThe inner game — emotional wellbeing, meaning, relationships, and calmWithout the inner game, outer success can quietly turn into burnout, health challenges, strained relationships, or a constant pressure to maintain what you've built. We also go deeper into the relationship between wealth and emotional balance—why more money doesn't always mean more freedom, and how behaviour, identity, and temperament shape long-term outcomes.Along the way, I share real-world insights from individuals operating at a high level—those who have built significant success, yet still face challenges around trust, fulfilment, and connection. And importantly, we cover the practices that keep you grounded while you grow:MeditationMovementNutritionSimplifying when neededSurrounding yourself with people who stabilise and elevate youIf you're building something meaningful, leading at a high level, or stepping into more responsibility—this episode will help you do it in a way that is sustainable, grounded, and aligned.Because success isn't just about winning…It's about who you become—and how you sustain it.Support the showThank you for listening

Dr. Prior unpacks the difference between a fixed mindset vs. growth mindset, how childhood beliefs shape adult anxiety and self-sabotage, and the neuroscience behind why failure feels so personal — and how to rewire that response. We dive deep into performance psychology for everyday women, how to build stable confidence (hint: it's not a feeling, it's a skill), the dangers of helicopter parenting and enabling behavior, and why teenagers are struggling with motivation in the age of social media and dopamine addiction. Dr. Prior also shares why the anxious generation is real — and what parents can do about it.In the second half, we get into sleep science for women over 40, including why perimenopause and menopause wreck your sleep, the truth about over-the-counter melatonin (and why it could be doing more harm than good), how body temperature regulation impacts sleep quality, and proven strategies for falling back asleep at 3am without reaching for your phone.Whether you're a high achiever, a woman in midlife, or just someone who feels stuck — this episode will change how you think about your mind, your sleep, and your potential.Topics covered: fixed mindset vs growth mindset, performance psychology, sleep science for women, menopause and sleep, melatonin safety, confidence building, anxiety and mindset, dopamine and social media, parenting and core beliefs, sleep hygiene, women's mental health, personal development, behavior change.Shred Happens starts April 19.Join this revolutionary 6-week challenge aimed at shredding fat and building muscle, specifically for the midlife female. In this episode, I sit down with Taylor Eigsti, and this conversation goes everywhere I hoped it would. We talk about preparation versus spontaneity, writing music that leaves room for the present moment, and why the best ensembles feel more like carefully cast films than perfectly rehearsed machines.Taylor shares what it's been like working recently with Michael League, Ben Wendel, Kendrick Scott, Antonio Sánchez, and others, and we get deep into his compositional mindset—why quantity matters, why “bad ideas” are necessary, and how composition is a muscle that has to be exercised. We also talk about his Grammy-winning albums Tree Falls and Plot Armor, the long studio hours behind them, and why recognition doesn't always translate the way people expect.Along the way, we hit on collaboration, identity, touring life, teaching, football fandom, and what it really means to show up prepared and fully present for the moment that actually matters—the short window onstage when everything finally comes alive.Music from the Episode:Let You Bee (Taylor Eigsti)Bucket of F's (Taylor Eigsti)Look Around You (Taylor Eigsti)Thank you for listening. How to turn down the chatter of negative self-talk.If you want to have better conversations with others, Ethan Kross says you first have to quiet down the chatter in your own head.A professor, researcher, and author, Kross defines chatter as a “negative thought loop” that hijacks our attention and undermines our ability to perform. “We have a limited capacity to focus our attention,” he says. “Attentional resources are a limited commodity, and chatter acts like a sponge that consumes that capacity. It leaves very little leftover that allows us to do the things that we want or need to do.” In his work researching, teaching, and writing about emotional regulation and the conscious mind, Kross has explored how to manage the negative self-talk that sabotages our concentration. “Here's the good news,” he says. “You can get out of it. Managing your chatter [is] a lot like becoming physically fit” — and he's developed tools and frameworks for building the muscles to turn down the noise. In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Kross joins host Matt Abrahams to share methods for quieting chatter and reclaiming precious mental resources. From distanced self-talk to mental time travel, his tools offer a way to tune out the static and tune into clarity and connection. To listen to the extended Deep Thinks version of this episode, please visit FasterSmarter.io/premium.Episode Reference Links:Ethan KrossEthan's Books: Chatter / ShiftEp.179 Finding Positive in Negative Emotions: Communication, Happiness & Wellbeing Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:27) - Defining Chatter (04:57) - Breaking the Loop (09:54) - Technology & Emotional Sharing (13:20) - Why “Get Over It” Fails (18:40) - Emotions as Data (21:11) - The Final Three Questions (25:01) - Conclusion   ********Thank you to our sponsors.  These partnerships support the ongoing production of the podcast, allowing us to bring it to you at no cost. This episode is brought to you by Babbel. It is a privilege to welcome actor, model, and producer Jake Jensen to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.  Jake is a former professional tennis player turned actor, producer, sports psychologist, and mental health performance coach. He brings a rare blend of grit, intellect, and emotional depth to every role he inhabits – on screen and in life. His portrayal of Finn Larsen in Challengers is a profound statement of his ability to channel lived experience into cinematic authenticity. As a trash-talking Scandinavian tennis pro, Jensen's character embodies the psychological warfare and raw ambition that define the sport's most competitive tiers.  Yet Jake's story doesn't begin—or end—on the court. He holds a PhD in Sport & Performance Psychology and serves as a tenured professor at California State University, Northridge. His work with elite athletes, actors, and creatives focuses on optimizing mental performance through mindfulness, emotional regulation, and strategic mindset training. Whether coaching one-on-one or lecturing in the classroom, Jake's approach is grounded, intuitive, and transformative.  As a producer and creative collaborator, Jake is currently leading the romantic fantasy drama Believe, where he stars as a war veteran entangled in a mysterious love story with Eve from the Bible. He's also a gifted pianist and composer, scoring original work while developing new scripts that fuse psychological insight with artistic storytelling.   On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Jake Jensen spoke about the lessons that he learned from the Challengers and King Richard sets, previewed Believe and Power 98.5's In the Actors and Athletes Studio, where he co-hosts with Steven Cuoco. Big goals shouldn't feel like hauling a suitcase of rocks up a hill. We're talking about how ambitious people accidentally strap on extra weight with the wrong scorecard - chasing outcomes, timelines, and approval - when the real leverage lives in daily process, commitment to daily work, clear systems, and consistent action.Today, I'm walking you through a practical high-performance exercise that reframes control, so you can stop measuring what you don't own and start optimizing the inputs you do.We dig into concrete examples across life and work: training vs winning, habits vs goals, preparation vs luck, and systems vs willpower. On the communication and leadership side, we unpack speaking clearly vs being understood, authenticity vs approval, boundaries vs reactions, and decision quality vs outcome certainty. In creative strategy, we anchor on experimentation, iteration, and feedback instead of perfection and prediction, showing how curiosity and small learning loops speed up real progress and reduce burnout. We'll finish with 2 grounding questions that tie it all together, 2 questions you must ask yourself whenever life, goals and work feel heavy. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or judged by an external scoreboard, this conversation gives you a lighter way to travel - focused, energized, and resilient over the long haul.If the episode resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend who's chasing something big, and leave a quick review to help others find it.Then tell me: what controllable input will you commit to this week? Also, try my new GPT - Negative Self-Talk Trainer: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-68f9e96bb94c81918b16bc403c31adfe-self-talk-trainer  Text Me Your Thoughts and IdeasSupport the showBrought to you by Angela Shurina Behavior-First, Executive, Leadership and Optimal Performance Coach 360, Change Leadership & Culture Transformation Consultant

The flow state represents the pinnacle of human performance and consciousness - that magical zone where time dissolves, self-doubt vanishes, and you become pure creative force in action. In this state, your neural networks synchronize in ways that amplify focus, accelerate learning, and unlock capabilities that seem almost superhuman. Professional athletes call it "the zone," artists know it as creative ecstasy, and entrepreneurs recognize it as the birthplace of breakthrough innovations. When you're in flow, you're not just performing at your best - you're accessing a dimension of consciousness where the impossible becomes inevitable, where challenges transform into opportunities, and where your authentic genius emerges effortlessly. This activation is designed to rewire your nervous system for on-demand access to flow states. Rather than waiting for these peak experiences to happen randomly, you'll learn to generate them consciously through specific neurological triggers and consciousness techniques. We'll activate the precise brainwave patterns, release the optimal neurochemical cocktails, and align your awareness with the quantum field where miracles live. By the end of this session, you'll possess the keys to unlock flow whenever you need it most - whether you're creating, competing, solving problems, or simply wanting to experience life from the highest levels of human potential. This isn't just about performance enhancement; this is about stepping into the version of yourself that operates from pure flow as your natural state of being.

Send us a textThe obstacle isn't in your path—it is the path. We dive into a no-fluff approach for turning constraints into momentum using simple, repeatable tools you can run today. Instead of waiting for “more time” or “more budget,” we show how specific limits become the outline of a workable plan that advances your goals without the drama. We start by drawing a sharp line between excuses and measurements, then shift the language from “until X changes, we can't do Y” to “given X, how do we still do Y?” That shift opens practical routes in business and health: using a zero-budget month to build targeted organic partnerships; turning travel into hotel-room training with resistance bands; reframing injury to emphasize technique and long-term performance; and designing meals that prevent late-night snacking. Each example shows how constraints define edges—and edges define the road. You'll learn the 3R framework—Reality, Reframe, Route—to move from fuzzy intentions to measurable action. Reality names the facts without blame. Reframe extracts the advantage created by the constraint. Route sets one minimum viable move you can complete today, not a 12-week fantasy. Layer that with “because-of” rules (pre-decisions that kill bargaining at the moment of choice) and time-boxed, single-scope blocks that build trust with yourself fast. Expect pivots, because winners adjust; owning mistakes beats telling stories, and consistency beats intensity every time.Walk away with a checklist you can deploy now: define today's constraint, write one “because-of” rule, set a 10–20 minute block, and execute a measurable move.
