Men's Basketball vs Auburn - Sweet Sixteen Starts at 1:00 It's times like this that make you think of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Ozymandias which has a passage about "when you're leading by 9 points with 12 minutes left don't give up a 20-2 run". Michigan made Auburn as dumb as Michigan for a half and then Auburn remembered they were the #1 overall seed. Michigan gives up 1.04 ppp overall. Turnovers were tied but Michigan was obliterated on rebounds. The season-long issues with the front court came to light in this game. This ended up being what you would expect in a game of Michigan vs Super Michigan. We'll miss Vlad Goldin, Craig has some nits to pick. 2. Looking Back on the Season Starts at 21:51 Dusty May comes into a roster with Will Tschetter and Nimari Burnett, most of his FAU squad doesn't follow him (besides Vlad Goldin). But he assembles this motley crew of a team. The question coming in was "can he assemble a good roster or did he just have one good recruiting class?" Turns out he can assemble a good roster. Brian hoped this could be a 6-seed coming into the season and people thought this was crazy. They probably should've been higher than a 5-seed. This season earns an A for exceeding all expectations, not an A+ but an A. Dusty May was the better choice over Niko Medved. 3. Hot Takes and Looking Forward to Next Season Starts at 42:43 Takes hotter than whatever Craig is about to say. Michigan loses Rubin Jones, Jace Howard, Vlad Goldin, Justin Pippen, and probably Danny Wolf, You now have a roster cap of 15, they can be scholarship or not. They'll be looking for centers in the portal. Get ready for an L.J. Cason glow up. Looking ahead to Trey McKenney as a freshman. If Sam Walters was going to hit the portal, wouldn't he have done it by now? There appear to be a lot of high quality centers in the portal. Transfer portal targets, Brian wants Magoon Gwath. What's the ceiling for next year? They'll finally have some continuity on the roster. Just find a guy who's 7 feet tall and put him on the roster. 4. Michigan Football Spring Practice and Hockey Starts at 1:26:08 The only QBs available are Bryce Underwood and Jadyn Davis, Mikey Keene is injured. Otherwise we're not hearing much of anything. Shamari Earls is supposedly turning out and is Charles Woodson sized. There will not be Jeremy Clark slander. Michigan hockey had a disappointing end to the season, how will they bounce back? How much will Michigan pay for hockey after football and basketball? What does the rest of the Big Ten look like? The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Episode 287 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're continuing our block on some of the NFL's best postseason games of all time.In this episode we're discussing the 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff game between the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders. On a snowy night in what was the last game ever played at Foxboro Stadium, the New England Patriots took on the Oakland Raiders in one of the most controversial games in NFL history.Oakland steadily built a 13-3 lead behind quarterback Rich Gannon towards the end of the 3rd Quarter, and all seemed to be going the Raiders' way.New England, led by their former backup quarterback Tom Brady, however mounted a valiant comeback in the final quarter.A Brady touchdown run cut the deficit to 13-10, and an enormous stop on 3rd and 1 before the Two Minute Warning allowed the Patriots to regain possession for one final drive in regulation. On that final drive, controversy reared its ugly head. On what was a complete and total fumble forced by future HOF cornerback Charles Woodson, the referees stepped in and brought out “The Tuck Rule” which ruled the play incomplete and New England retained possession.Adam Vinatieri kicked an amazing field goal to tie the game and send it to overtime. Then in sudden death, Vinatieri iced the game with a field goal to hand the Patriots the win, 16-13.This in turn led to an eventual Super Bowl victory for the Patriots, and two decades worth of dominance of professional football.Connect with us on Instagram!Chris Quinn: @cquinncomedyDominic DiTolla: @ditolladominicProducer: @ty_englestudioInstagram: @thesportsexperiencepodcastIf you enjoy this podcast, please help support us @:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support#sportspodcast#comedypodcast #oaklandraiders#newenglandpatriots#nflplayoffs

Updated State of the Basketball Program and NFL Draft Stuff Starts at 1:00 We're not going to talk about basketball, but this is mostly a basketball segment. Discussing Sanderson's departure from the program from Sanderson's perspective. It's unbelievable that Juwan didn't get fired for this. Basketball standings are the Big Ten West's revenge. There's no reason to believe that Michigan will be good next year, teams that mainly use the portal have not been that great and Michigan probably won't even fill the roster. This is year five, that's on Juwan. If Juwan is retained, add it to the list of Warde Manual bag fumbles. Apparently Warde is good with speaking to people and managing non-revenue sports. Has he even had to make a hire in major sport? Sherrone Moore and Naurato were a given. Warde likes to just sit around and wait for whatever happens to happen. Even Graig Ross says this is one of the worst teams since he was in school. If Juwan gets fired it won't be until the end of the season. Do you enjoy watching the Combine? Dave does, Brian does not. The NFL draft will be fun to watch this year because there will be a lot of Michigan players getting drafted and every time they do there will be a lot of highlights of Ohio State getting dunked on. Mike Sainristil knew Washington's plays because Mike Sainristil is football smart. It was Mikey all along!! According to scouts, all of Michigan's offensive linemen are two years ahead of everyone else in terms of maturity. Cornelius Johnson tested out amazingly. He didn't get a ton of targets but he bailed out JJ a lot, and that skill set will translate to the NFL. Blake Corum changed his skill set from speed back to inside guy based on what the team needed. 2. 2024 Defensive Line and 2024 Linebackers Starts at 31:56 The defense only lost Keon Sabb to the portal, they look just as loaded this year as last year but without the ability to roll out nine defensive linemen. This should be Derrick Moore's blowup year. Josiah Stewart came on in a big way after struggling a bit the first half of the season. Is it time for TJ Guy to get some serious snaps? Will he become “TJ Dude”?? Brian's head almost explodes trying to talk about the defensive tackles. Mason Graham will be the best defensive tackle in the country and should be a 99 in NCAA 25. And then the other guy is KENNETH GRANT. Trey Pierce looked fine as a true freshman but not much you can tell about him yet. It should be the best defensive line in the country, just need 3rd string depth. Linebackers lose Barrett and Colson and is a little more up inI the air. Hausmann was a good rotational piece, Rolder looked like a player as a true freshman but was rough against Ohio State. Jaishawn Barham comes in from Maryland and is a good run stuffer. These three are the makings of a good linebacker corps. 3. Hot Takes and 2024 Secondary Starts at 54:48 Takes hotter than JJ McCarthy's draft stock. Will Johnson will be the highest graded player in NCAA 25 (unless you use The Seth Roster, then it will be Mason Graham). He'll basically be Charles Woodson. The safeties look stacked and apparently Michigan is looking to get Quinten Johnson back. Makari Paige started in 2020, Rod Moore started in 2021, they'll be fine. Once again, the biggest question mark is the second cornerback. Also for as amazing as Mike Sainristil was, we might still be underrating him because he was the glue. Whoever you insert at the second corner spot is going to be the least experienced corner on the field and they'll be replacing the most experienced corner in Josh Wallace. Will they go to the post spring roster and pick up another corner again? They'll still be one of the best defenses in America. Martindale will be a drop off because Minter was running coverages Marvin Harrison had never seen before but it shouldn't be a major drop off. Seth is Brian's Mike Hart. It's an Alex Drain-ass coaching staff (Alex if you're reading this, Brian's words. Not mine). 4. Hockey at Minnesota Starts at 1:29:36 Michigan splits with Minnesota but there's chaos on the college hockey bubble. Michigan moves up from 14th to 13 in Pairwise and Pairwise Predictor has them at 69% in. In game 2, Michigan goes up 3-0 in the first period and ends up winning in OT. Michigan's goalie looked great in the first two periods of this game but gave up 5 goals in the 3rd. When things start to go wrong, everything spirals out of control. Is this team on par for what we expected them to be this year? Kind of. A 6 month accelerated-aged Kentucky Bourbon. The mash is made in Kentucky, then sent in barrels to a manufacturer to accelerate the aging process by using ultrasonic waves (more Bourbon to stave contact). The Bourbon is then finished at their San Diego distillery in French Oak Cabernet wine barrels used to make Charles Woodson's Napa Valley wine. The fellas jump in to see if the flavor follows the process. Stay Black and Keep it Brown. Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and guest host Andrew Siciliano discuss his new episode of MGM+'s ‘NFL Icons,' if Colorado Buffaloes 2-way star Travis Hunter could play offense and defense in the NFL, how bad things had gotten for the Raiders under former head coach Josh McDaniels, and his reaction as a Michigan alum to the Jim Harbaugh sign-stealing allegations. NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger tells Andrew what the Rams can expect out of the newly signed Carson Wentz, if it's worth it for Aaron Rodgers to attempt a comeback with the New York Jets this season, what the Dallas Cowboys are missing this season to make them legit contenders, if the Baltimore Ravens are the NFL's best team, and why the NFC's top teams have struggled mightily against stout AFC offenses. Virginia native Andrew makes the case for the NCAA to allow unbeaten James Madison to play in a bowl game this season. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021, his first year on the ballot, and enshrined in Canton that August. Ryan starts the conversation off by quoting Charles on an important message that he shared during his Hall of Fame speech, and asking the significance of the line, "They say a woman can't raise a man, I call bullcrap, because my mom raised two men." Charles shares why it was important for him to put that message out to the world and let him serve as proof that strong men can be raised in single mother households and talks about his own experience of being raised by his mother and how his work ethic and his will to never give up is all from watching his mom and the values she instilled in him. As hard as the NFL is and as many ups and downs, injuries, bad days and the days that make you want to walk away, Charles always remained grounded by his mother's efforts and life approach which he used to sustain his own success. Channing doesn't miss a moment in poking a little fun at Charles' singing comparing him to Demarcus Ware's recent performance, as Charles chose to sing a tribute for his mother at his Hall of Fame induction which gives the guys some material for a fun conversation. Prior to his professional career, Woodson was a two-time All-American at Michigan and led the Wolverines to an undefeated season and national championship in 1997, the same year he became the only individual to win the Heisman Trophy while playing on both sides of the ball. Fred asks about playing with Tom Brady during those years at college and what type of player he was then and the difference in Brady during the early years vs becoming one of the best to ever play in the NFL. With all the surrounding controversy around Michigan football today, Woodson remains loyal to the program and doesn't find any foul play with the information he is aware of that's gone on. Woodson goes on to talk about his own NFL career and later on playing against his college teammate sharing how a day doesn't go by where someone doesn't ask him about the infamous loss to Brady in the 2002 postseason, where Charles sacked Tom who fumbled to seal the win for the Raiders yet, it was overturned due to the "Tuck rule" and the Patriots went onto win. A moment that haunted Woodson for years which is why winning the Super Bowl with Green Bay Packers meant so much to him later on in his NFL tenure. Talking about how some of the greatest cornerbacks are often compared to Woodson, he reiterates how and why people view him as one of the greatest defensive players to step on the field with no argument on this from Ryan, Fred or Channing as they reiterate Woodson's achievements and go on to say that he himself often looks back at some of the things he did, and can't believe he did it either. Featured Musician: Jesse Clayton The Video: [After THE JUMP: The saidening.] --------------------- 1 and 2. Bowling Green Preview starts at the top and at 16:27 Alex is not impressed, except we would take Hilaire. Biggest concern is they dink-dink-dink down the field and get a couple of good catches from Hilaire or their Washington transfer. Defensively they're climbing out of a huge hole—Steve Morrison is on hand and has installed something like the 1990s Michigan defense, but they do not have the players yet, especially at boundary safety. 3. UNLV After Review starts at 27:52 Seth likes all the DTs and Derrick Moore. JJ McCarthy is incredible. What's up with the running game? Don't get it unless there's something off-field with Trente Jones, and Henderson is picking up a new offense. Barnhart is whiffing on linebackers. Hinton isn't made for stretch, although he didn't have 7 pass pro minuses this week. You can see why they want him to become Runyan Jr. but he's got a long way to go. 4. Greg Harden starts at 12:45 Stay Sane in an Insane World: How to Control the Controllables and Thrive is the collected wisdom of sports therapy's icon, the man who worked with Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, and hundreds more elite athletes. He spent over 30 years at Michigan, and now in his later years he put this book together to make sure his message lives on. Preview: About the Featured Musician: Jesse Clayton This year we are partnering with The Blind Pig for bumper music, since that's where I've seen most of the bands I've been pushing anyways. Jesse Clayton is a Michigan artist, member of legendary Ann Arbor band The Macpodz, and a hometown favorite who's since made it big as a music industry professional, from touring with members of Frank Zappa's band to scoring films. He'll be performing Future Gods on September 26th at the Blind Pig. I've been writing to Iridescence this week. Defensive Line Starts at 1:00 This podcast is actually two hours about Coco Gauff- I'm getting word from our sponsors that we must resume football discussion. Kris Jenkins is looking to be a first or second round pick, he's the best pass rusher in the interior. His nickname is "The Mutant" and it shows. Mason Graham is the dude next to him, the best freshman DT since... ever? Freshman DTs just aren't that good but Mason Graham was good. Kenneth Grant, God's gift to football, is in the lineup, but might be a year away from fully realizing his ability. Rayshaun Benny showed some flashes in the Spring Game and is probably behind Kris Jenkins. Rumor is Cam Goode is in better shape coming into this year. The freshmen probably won't contribute much but they're on their way. Edge position is pretty set in stone and will probably be fine, not great. Jaylen Harrell is reliable but a little small and could drop back into a linebacker role. He's had some oddly optimistic draft projections. There's reason to be optimistic about Josiah Stewart. Braiden McGregor feels like he's never fully recovered from his knee injury, despite being physically shaped like Aidan Hutchinson. Derrick Moore has Taco Charlton potential. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Linebackers and Cornerback Starts at 39:43 Junior Colson has had his ups and downs at Michigan but is coming in with a lot of hype. He's a similar mold to Jonas Mouton. Would have some +2s in UFR, which are amazing, but then would end up grading negatively overall. He could be the proverbial X-Factor - you can see the potential in the All-American talk. Michael Barrett is one of the most 'football guys' on the team and it's so great to see him mold into a good linebacker. He has a lot of versatility which helps Minter call different plays. Ernest Hausmann is a great get from a not great Nebraska defense, he looked great in the Spring Game. Jimmy Rolder saw some decent play time towards the end of last year. Jaydon Hood probably won't crack the two-deep. Will Johnson could possibly be the best cornerback in the country, did not get toasted by Marvin Harrison Jr. Could he be following the Charles Woodson path? Mike Sainristil? Mike Sainristil! Responsible for the best Michigan defensive play since...? We play "Remember Some Dudes" with just one guy. Blake Corum, Mike Sainristil, and Michael Barrett created a culture of "football dudes". Biggest question on the whole team is "who is going to be CB #2"? Josh Wallace is a great pickup from UMass and was probably recommended by Don Brown. In terms of best case scenario going into the Ohio State game, though, it's probably Jyaire Hill. Amorion Walker is on the Freaks List but that finished product is probably a year away. There are issues but not like the Rich Rodriguez era "Never Forget Banner", these issues are simply "put a safety over the CB that needs help and let Will Johnson go 1-on-1." Whoever comes out of this mess is going to be decent, and all you really need is someone to be decent. 3. Hot Takes, Safeties, and Special Teams Starts at 1:15:58 Takes hotter than Coco Gauff at the Southern and Western Open. Is there a conspiracy to hide Ja'den McBurrows from us?? Rod Moore is possibly one of the top available safeties in the NFL draft. He's a three-star out of Ohio (Ohio State recruited Lathan Ransom, oopsie). Makari Paige is a very reliable tackler. Best safety duo since who? Quinten Johnson is a fast guy who hasn't quite put it together yet. We haven't heard much about Sabb. Zeke Berry looked pretty good in the Spring Game. If one of the starters gets hurt then there could be issues. Caden Kolesar would be pretty good as a third safety for most of the year. Tommy Doman is the punter and a six-star! James Turner comes in as a kicker and is 32 for 33 inside the 40. We've heard all about Alex Orji as a punt returner. Mullings as a punt returner? Eamonn Dennis as a kick returner makes sense but we need Alex Orji for the memes. The long snapper is- 4. Defense in Summary Starts at 1:44:06 It's a little shakier than the offense, there are still a few questions, but it won't be a disaster. Need to get pass rushing out of the actual pass rushers. It could still be a top 10 unit and could still be better than last year. Lots of time this season to figure it out. Biggest concern on the defense (besides CB #2)? Breakout player? SP+ final finish? Who's your dude? Alejandro, we need you to publish the mattress story. MUSIC: “Pull Up”— Lil Mosey “Rolling”— Michael Kiwanuka “Pretend”— Alex_G_offline “Across 110th Street”
