1 hour and 17 minutes The Sponsors Thank you to Underground Printing for making this all possible. Rishi and Ryan have been our biggest supporters from the beginning. Check out their wide selection of officially licensed Michigan fan gear at their 3 store locations in Ann Arbor or learn about their custom apparel business at undergroundshirts.com. And let's not forget our associate sponsors: HomeSure Lending, Ann Arbor Elder Law, the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown, Michigan Law Grad, Human Element, The Phil Klein Insurance Group, and Information Entropy, the Raw Power app for iOS by Gentleman Coders, and SignalWire, which is the virtual office platform we recorded on during the pandemic because we'd had it up to here with Zoom (use the code MUPPETS and they'll buy your team lunch!) This episode however was recorded at Prentice 4M, on the other end of The Bridge, started by a couple of readers to have the perfect, affordable, safe, and clean living/renting/working space near campus. 1. Quarterback & Running Back starts at 1:00 We try to convince Brian to care about football by showing him all the wonderful things. Like Cade McNamara is the guy but his ceiling is…Shea Patterson? J.J. McCarthy is a much better floor. Not much from Bowman. But hey, running backs! Haskins is a Dude, way too good for Charbonnet to stick around. Corum is everything we desire in a running back. Picking out roles for Edwards makes it fun, as long as we can not think about how the backs were misused last year. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Wide Receiver & Tight End starts at 27:44 Ronnie Bell is he, but also the man who led the country in average YAC in 2019. Cornelius Johnson is an easy breakout candidate. Daylen Baldwin had legit Ohio State interest. AJ Henning inherits the Giles Jackson role, while Sainristil is the Jeter of the offense: coaches hype him every offseason, yet to see it. Don't sleep on Roman Wilson either. Tight end is thin unless the new wave of guys from nowhere appear, but All could have huge upside if he's only more like the guy who caught everything before he learned to block. 3. Offensive Line starts at 46:04 They clearly wanted Zinter to move to center but since that didn't happen it's Vastardis and both of Trente Jones and Karsen Barhart are waiting to get on the field. Not a terrible situation, really—Stueber can play and Hayes is locked in at LT, and they love Zinter, and the all-out melee at LG that Keegan won should mean he's pretty good. We disagree re: Moore. 4. Raw Takes and How it All Fits starts at 59:36 What is speed and space? It's Ronnie Bell leading the country in YAC. It is a big week here at The Scho Show, as Mark Schofield heads south for his fifth trip to the Senior Bowl. To kick off the week Mark breaks down the six quarterbacks who will be in attendence down at the big event. First up are two passers likely to hear their names called in the first round of the draft, Justin Herbert from Oregon and Jordan Love from Utah State. If you like arm talent, you'll like these two. The next two quarterbacks are probably Day Two prospects, but it includes one QB Mark is very excited to see. First is Anthony Gordon, a prospect from Washington State that has really caught Mark's attention this draft cycle. Then Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts, who certainly has a future in the NFL. The final two passers are probably more Day Three developmental types, but with a solid showing in Mobile both Shea Patterson and Steven Montez could secure a draft spot. It's really uncomfortable here under the bus, Ace. The Sponsors We can do this because people support us. You should support them! The show is presented by UGP & The Bo Store, and if it wasn’t for Rishi and Ryan we’d be writing for The Athletic if we're lucky. Our associate sponsors are also key to all of this: HomeSure Lending, Peak Wealth Management, Ann Arbor Elder Law, the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown, the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Michigan Law Grad, Human Element, The Phil Klein Insurance Group, FuegoBox and The Athletic 1. Hoops vs MSU starts at 1:00 Once Teske went out they went zone with Nunez. Breslin fouls on him nuked what was one of his best games. Still no answer for Cassius Winston—wish Michigan had just kept using the drop coverage and forced him to keep hitting his runner twos instead of hard hedges. When a Beilein roster shoots 5/23 from three on the road, it's a recipe. Johns so hesitant from deep after his early miss. Expected the Breslin, got the Breslin. Shout-out to Big Country who kept Michigan in this game with some cool finishes. Michigan doesn't know how to do enough gamesmanship (e.g. throw the ball at the ref's feet after a basket to prevent transitions off makes). 2. Basketball Outlook starts at 24:02 First tactical issue all year was MSU's breaks. Will have the best non-conf resume of tournament teams. Brooks is up, Johns has shown signs, and Castleton needs to Garza up. Rutgers is one spot behind Indiana! Ohio State looked ragged against West Virginia, and losing to Wisconsin at home is hooo. Don't be disappointed if this is a six seed. Can't make fun of Richard Pitino for now. Recruiting: Williams and Dickinson! Williams is JaeSean Tate/Kenny Goins late career/Iggy Brazdeikis-ish? Josh Christopher fills the NBA-level two-guard need that Michigan has way more than Greg Brown the 5-star who said he's taking a Michigan visit on his way to Kentucky or Memphis. Everyone thinks Christopher's going to end up at UCLA for…reasons. But Corey Evans moved his FutureCast to Michigan. Todd's a bigger recruiting get for showing what Juwan can get than what we'll get since he'll mostly develop after his one-and-done year. Get Chet! Would you take Beilein back right now? 3. The Citrus Bowl starts at 11:11:28 Both an excellent and bad summary of Shea Patterson's career, since the thing he was good at he was terrible at in this game: Deep ball accuracy! Giles Jackson looks fast when he's playing Alabama. Imagining the game if they don't throw that horseshit flag on Aidan Hutchinson, or if Bell doesn't step out of bounds, or if Alabama wasn't just so perfect on their throws. Hard to have takeaways about Chris Hinton because they didn't try him until the end. 4. Football Outlook starts at 1:35:14 Skill position looks very good, what do you have at quarterback? Blake Corum is the perfect addition to a running back room that adds Chris Evans too. OL seems fine—the guys leaving are probably getting passed by young'uns except for Ruiz. Most important guys on next year's team are Mazi Smith and Chris Hinton because DTs and QBs are the game these days. Outlook for the conference. The green light goes on a lot earlier: good for Livers, fine as long as it's not an off-the-dribble two. Brandon Johns looked pretty good. Is he aggressive enough to be the fourth banana? Yes. Bajema redshirt? Nunez did not look good on D. Pick and roll coverage is now dropping the center. Instead of double-byes, let's have Thanksgiving in peace. What a Big Ten week it was. Four questions for Michigan before Notre Dame test

Previewing the No. 20 Michigan football team's matchup against No. 8 Notre Dame, we look at four key questions we think the Wolverines must answer to come away with the win, then offer our predictions for the game. First, we look at whether the Michigan offense's solid second-half showing at Penn State is indicative of what's to come, or just a flash in the pan due to the Nittany Lions holding an early lead. In the discussion, we also look at why Shea Patterson and the offensive line improved, and what Notre Dame's defense brings to the table. We then consider how concerning Michigan's big-play defense is, and if the Wolverines can avoid lapses against a pretty balanced and dangerous Fighting Irish offense. Our final questions center around Michigan's challenge of emotionally bouncing back from a virtual title-eliminating loss, as well as why the Wolverines seem to show up so much better in big home games than big road games. Finally, we close with our over-under predictions and our final projections for how the game will shake out. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode, we look at two game balls, opine on four lasting takeaways and discuss seven questions stemming from the No. 16 Michigan football team's 42-25 win at Illinois.  Our game balls, as is usually the case, are split between the offense and the defense. Our offensive MVP is a surprising skill position player who had by far the best game of his career, while our defensive standout is a player who had a lot of excitement around this season and hasn't been bad, but had something of a breakthrough in Saturday's game. Our takeaways include thoughts on Michigan's fumbles woes, a reassessment of the ceiling of the Wolverines, a take on why the way Michigan collapsed could be concerning for future games and a look at a breakout player. Our questions center around Ambry Thomas' NFL Draft stock, a defense that was spotty Saturday, what worked and what didn't for Shea Patterson, a concern meter after the game, midseason MVPs and position group rankings and what Michigan needs the most to beat Penn State.  Learn more about your ad choices. Working without Steve Lorenz due to a scheduling conflict, Zach Shaw breaks down what he expects to see in Saturday’s matchup between Michigan and Illinois. Threading the podcast’s traditional over-under game throughout his preview, Shaw looks at Shea Patterson’s situation, and why the senior quarterback needs more than just a get-well game. He also looks at Michigan’s running backs, how the Wolverines can make progress and more on the Fighting Illini’s woeful defense. He also digs into Michigan’s potential to work in backup players such as Joe Milton and Hassan Haskins, and other reasons that a fast start can be beneficial. On the defensive side of the ball, Shaw explains why he expects the Wolverines’ defensive line to continue to improve, why stopping Illinois’ serviceable run game is important and what to look for from the Fighting Illini’s pass game with backup quarterback Matt Robinson likely to start. Shaw closes with things Michigan fans should watch in the game, and offers his prediction for the matchup. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
