We continue our look back at some of the strongest and most interesting horror films of 2025 (#2025stillalive) by examining a decisively unconventional and deeply affecting horror film called THE RULE OF JENNY PEN. Starring Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow in powerhouse performances, The Rule of Jenny Pen tells the story of an elderly judge (Rush) who, following a debilitating stroke, finds himself in a long-term care facility that is menaced by a maniacal bully (Lithgow). As his physical condition worsens and the staff become increasingly less likely to intervene, he finds every inch of his perceived power and authority stripped away from him. It is a harrowing and thought-provoking film of truly unique impact. We're joined by a host of FoG friends and Final Girl gamers: Paula Deming, Meg Oak, and Julie Ahern. Together we unpack all of the various terrors and hopes that this film has to offer, resulting in one of our heartiest and most vigorous conversations ever. Also featuring a Patron-only segment where we continue our journey through STRANGER THINGS Season 5, this is a lengthy but deeply thoughtful conversation that we really hope you enjoy.4:32 - Favorite Final Girl Stories19:53 - Recent Favorite Board Game PlaysPatron Only Segment: STRANGER THINGS, Season 5, Episode 334:42 - THE RULE OF JENNY PENSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The first set of seven episodes was released on May 27, 2022, and the second set of two episodes was released on July 1. The season was produced by the show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, along with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Iain Paterson, and Curtis Gwinn. The season stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Brett Gelman, Priah Ferguson, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser. Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, Joseph Quinn, Eduardo Franco, Mason Dye, Sherman Augustus, Tom Wlaschiha, and Nikola Đuričko appear in recurring roles. The season received highly positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances, visuals, action sequences, realistic themes, soundtrack, emotional weight, and the darker, more mature tone, though some criticized the lengthier episode runtimes. The first volume of the season received 13 nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, winning five; the second volume received five nominations for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.[1][2] Premise Set in March 1986, eight months after the events of the third season, the fourth season is split between three different plotlines. The first plotline takes place in Hawkins, Indiana, where a series of mysterious teenage murders begin haunting the town. Eddie Munson, leader of the Hellfire Club, Hawkins High School's Dungeons & Dragons group, becomes a prime suspect in the murders after senior cheerleading captain Chrissy Cunningham dies in his trailer, so Dustin Henderson, Lucas and Erica Sinclair, Max Mayfield, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and Robin Buckley begin investigating to clear Eddie's name. While other classmates, lead by Jason Carver, hunt Eddie. The group discovers that the true perpetrator is a powerful being who resides in the Upside Down, whom they dub "Vecna" after a Dungeons & Dragons character. The second plotline involves Mike Wheeler visiting Eleven, Will Byers, and Jonathan Byers at their new home in Lenora Hills, California. Due to the events in Hawkins and the imminent danger to her friends, Eleven, after being arrested for assaulting her bully, goes with Dr. Sam Owens to a secret facility in the Nevada desert to regain her powers, an operation titled the Nina Project, where she is reunited with Dr. Martin Brenner and forced to confront her past in Hawkins National Laboratory with the aid of an isolation tank. While the U.S. Military, lead by Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan, is simultaneously searching for Eleven, Mike, Will, Jonathan, and their new friend Argyle attempt to reach Eleven before she regains her powers. The third plotline follows Joyce Byers and Murray Bauman as they venture to Russia upon learning that Jim Hopper may still be alive. Meanwhile, Hopper is held in a Soviet prison camp in Kamchatka, where he and the other inmates, including Dmitri Antonov, are forced to battle a Demogorgon that the Russians have captured.
We continue our look back at some horror films from 2025 with a film that's already been discussed a good bit on the show through interviews and Whatcha segments. Adam Cesare's book CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD first hit Reed's radar when it was published back in 2020. He had already been pitching it for years as "Scream: The Novel". Naturally, when Eli Craig (of Tucker and Dale Vs Evil fame) directed the adaptation, we had to cover it! Last year, we had the chance to sit down with both Adam Cesare and (briefly) Eli Craig to discuss the film. And this week we invite back friends of the show A J Porfirio and Evan Derrick of Van Ryder Games (creator of the smash board game hit Final Girl) to discuss it in all its spoiler glory. Also joining us is Gorey Gamer Matt Murray (who also visits Hawkins with us in a Patron-only segment about Stranger Things Season 5, Episode 2). On this hearty episode, we not only discuss all the clowns in all the cornfields, we also play a Board Game trivia contest and share the latest updates about FINAL GIRL SERIES 4, which launches on Kickstarter Feb 4.So, kick back and enjoy this lively conversation that we really hope you'll enjoy!5:14 - Final Girl Series 4 Kickstarter UpdatePatron Only Segment: STRANGER THINGS, Season 5, Episode 218:43 - Board Game Trivia!27:32 - CLOWN IN A CORNFIELDSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Our heroes say goodbye to the 80s.
Pax, Rob, and Michael talk about a lot of things in this first half of this month's lounge: The Rise of Skywalker, Wonder Woman on TV and in comics, Stranger Things Season 5, Stephen King and Maurice Sendak's Hansel and Gretel, and Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, for example. We also talk about our good friend (and frequent podcast guest) William Bruce West, who - we learned the day after recording this - recently suffered a stroke and is currently in the hospital. We hope and pray that he's going to be okay, but in the meantime, there's a GoFundMe campaign in progress for Will and his family as they start to navigate the uncertainty of what lies ahead for them. We hope that you'll consider donating.

New Year's resolutions hit everyone differently. Some people vow to slim down, shake up their love life, chase a new career, or finally finish that long‑abandoned project. Others aim for something a little more fun. Co‑host Mike admitted he's been sitting on a mountain of genre films he's never seen, so we figured—why not turn that into our annual tradition? Each co‑host picked a genre title they'd always meant to watch, dove in, and came back ready to talk about it.This year's cinematic spread is a wild one: Lucio Fulci's 1981 Lovecraft‑soaked nightmare The HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY, the 2015 supernatural noir HE NEVER DIED, the 2025 festival‑favorite EDGAR ALLEN POE'S THE OVAL PORTRAIT, HBO Max's electrifying STRANGER THINGS Season 4, and the scrappy, sci‑fi‑comedy debut from John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon, DARK STAR.As we kick off another year of deep dives and dark delights, Dark Discussions wishes all our listeners a fantastic 2026. A special shout‑out goes to our Patreon supporters—new faces and longtime friends alike. We'd love to hear which unseen films you're planning to tackle this year. Drop us a line at darkdiscussions@aol.com and share your picks.

We're here with the second half - actually the final final episode of our Stranger Things podcast, we promise!!! - of our conversation about Volumes 2 and 3 of Season 5 of Stranger Things (episodes 5 - 8). All F&F proceeds from this miniseries will go to humanitarian aid in Gaza, starting with UN Crisis Relief: https://crisisrelief.un.org/opt-crisis. We felt it was important to speak out here, given disturbing statements previously made by Noah Schnapp and Brett Gelman supporting Israel. A simple wish for peace is insufficient in wake of the ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian people. We encourage you to give if you can. We stand with Palestine. Come talk to us on the website, Tumblr, or email us and please review us on iTunes.

Its been 10 years since season 1 of Stranger Things and the last time DTW covered a season of the show...until now! Raul and Dan discuss the epic 5th and final season (focus on the finale ep) of this beloved Netflix TV show, and naturally many of the seasonal ebbs and flows are discussed as certain parts of the season hit more forcefully and meaningfully than others (Will both becomes a sorcerer and comes out in different eps, equally to great effect at both ends of the spectrum; one choice needed to be left in the Upside Down, Duffers...). This oversized pod is proof the boys could not stop blathering on about the show, and it just goes to show, although this series had its ups and downs it will remain a steadfastly successful, immensely entertaining, genre-busting piece of pop culture that will be adored by generations of future TV-watchers for years to come.

This week on Wow, Nice Segue, the crew does what they do best to not get off topic too fast. The episode kicks off with a deep (and deeply unserious) dive into conspiracy theories, like too many street lights flickering in a row. From there, things get historical as the gang debates which famous figures definitely would've had burner Twitter accounts, and what they'd be tweeting at 2:47 a.m.Hunger strikes next as the conversation pivots to SWVA specialty pizza flavors, where local pride, questionable topping choices, and strong opinions collide. Things stay spoiler-free but hype-heavy with a Stranger Things Season 5 chat, focusing on vibes, theories, and emotional preparedness—without ruining anything for anybody absolute SPOILER FREEThe tone shifts (briefly) with reactions to a recent Averngers: Doomsday-related leak, before snapping right back to everyday chaos with a surprisingly passionate rant about the mysterious lack of self-checkouts at Dollar General. Finally, the episode wraps with a cathartic and highly debatable segment where the hosts rank the Top 5 Things That Grind Our Gears, guaranteeing at least one “that's so true” and one “absolutely not” from listeners.Fast, funny, and all over the place in the best way—Wow, Nice Segue delivers another episode that proves you don't need a plan when the tangents are this good.If you enjoy this podcast please let us know by liking, rating, reviewing and commenting. After the holiday hiatus the gang is reunited — Sleazy, Mr. PBS and Robzilla blast back into the studio with their signature blend of laughs, perplexing headlines and cinephile deep dives. Kicking things off in Crazy News the crew tackles the tragic shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, a story that's sparked nationwide controversy, protests and questions about law enforcement tactics and accountability in immigration enforcement. They also break down the bizarre case of authorities finding hundreds of bones in a man's basement and celebrate Hollywood's most unexpected hero moment when Matthew Lillard chased off an intruder wearing nothing but his underwear. From there the vibe shifts into spoiler territory as the hosts dissect the finale of Stranger Things Season 5, unpacking wild twists, emotional beats and what it all means for the Upside-Down universe. Then it's time for a fan favorite as Zilla drops his Tubi Pick — streaming goodness you might've missed.Next up, Mr. PBS and Sleazy sit down for a thoughtful conversation about the powerful new documentary Predators, which explores the dark side of the To Catch a Predator franchise and the real human toll behind the cameras. To close the show out the crew reflects on their Letterboxd 2025 Year in Review, sharing stats, standout films and the flicks that shaped their year. All that and more on The Sleazy Podcast Episode 224 — grab your headphones, we're just getting started
https://m.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?sid=tindogpodcast&_pgn=1&isRefine=true&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l49496 Stranger Things Season 2 (Fall 1984) deepens the mystery of the Upside Down, focusing on Will Byers being haunted and possessed by a massive shadow entity, the Mind Flayer, which uses him as a spy to spread its influence in Hawkins through underground tunnels, while Eleven discovers her past and reunites with friends, and the gang faces new threats like Demodogs, leading to a fight to close the gate and save Will and the town. New characters, including the pragmatic Max Mayfield, join the crew, and storylines explore the aftermath of Season 1, including Barb's legacy and Hopper's secret with Eleven. Key Plot Points: Will's Possession: Will suffers from terrifying visions of the Mind Flayer after a tentacle attaches to him, becoming a puppet for the monster's hive mind. The Mind Flayer's Plan: The shadow monster tries to expand the Upside Down into their world, creating tunnels beneath Hawkins. Eleven's Journey: El lives hidden with Hopper but eventually leaves to find her mother and learns about her origins, returning to help her friends. New Threats: The group encounters Demodogs (Demogorgon pups), and Dustin adopts a creature he names Dart, a pollywog from the Upside Down. New Faces: Max Mayfield (Max) arrives as a new student, challenging the group dynamic, while Joyce dates Bob Newby. Justice for Barb: Nancy and Jonathan team up with conspiracy theorist Murray Bauman to expose the truth about Barb's death.
We're here with the first half of our conversation about Volumes 2 and 3 of Season 5 of Stranger Things (episodes 5 - 8).
