Repost: One Goal, Many Paths - Next Steps After Not Matching feat. Drs. Brian Fung, Beju Shah, David Vu, Tony Dao Today's episode is a REPOST to 2019's special episode about next steps after not matching. The four of us have had different stories on what we did after not matching and want to let you know that it's OKAY. There's still Phase 2, there's still other pathways to get to where you want to go. Original Shownotes from 2019: This year, over 4000 thousand applicants matched for a PGY1 or PGY2 pharmacy residency program. These individuals are moving on to an amazing opportunity where they can continue to expand their skillset and evolve their knowledge. But… over 2000 applicants did NOT get this chance. If you were one of the individuals who did not match, know that you are NOT alone. Know that it's OKAY. Know that there are MANY different pathways to achieve your end goal. On today's special episode, Dr. Beju Shah, Dr. Brian Fung, Dr. David Vu, and Dr. Tony Dao all share their stories of how they did not match for residency and talk about the next steps they took that eventually navigated them into their DREAM careers. We encourage anyone who's listening to share your story and let everyone know that they are NOT alone. Beju Shah joins us and highlights the importance of managing and understanding data: "Data isn't strategic, it's important and because you need it to give you importance over time. If there are executives that are not putting the emphasis on the data, they are accountable for that data and the decision making on it."
Beju Shah joins us and shares the importance of how data is more useful over time: "Technique is a very subjective topic. And if you really get into true conditions, the level of data inputs and the sensory inputs that you need are incredibly granular. Very, very fine. Not at the level that you're getting now."
Beju Shah joins us and shares the importance of understanding and contextualizing data at The Bank of England: "Within our organization for PRA based data, supervision of banking data is about 80% digitized. The fabric's there and we're collecting it digitally; that now means that perhaps we need to look at the content to see if we can clean up the content and the definitions or we can make that more efficient, and how that then aligns to other jurisdictions and so on."
Beju Shah joins us and shares how data can communicate from the organization to the customer: "If you're looking at supervisors who are looking at capital ratios versus people in charge of resolution and they're not talking to each other, but they're sharing the same information, it'd be really good if they could just flip between the two and go, “Actually, what's going on there?” It gives them other insights."
Beju Shah joins us and highlights the importance of managing and understanding data: "Data isn't strategic, it's important and because it's important you need toit to give you importance over time. If there are executives that are not putting the emphasis on the data, they are accountable for that data and the decision making on it."
On this episode, we speak with Dr. Beju Shah, a clinical informatics pharmacist at MUSC, and we dive into his experience at ASHP and he gives us some insights as to why it's a great event for pharmacists to attend and also gives some advice on how to get the best out of the event. Beju Shah joins us and shares insight on designing the most efficient FTE possible: So right now it's about the money for me because then you can prove to say, “Well, look, by doing this, we've saved X amount of money or we did that way, that didn't work. We tried it again and it helped us save money here. But more importantly, we want to mature.
