After more than two years and almost 100 episodes covering the wonderful worlds of Twin Peaks, the films of David Lynch, and the writing prowess of Mark Frost, we're saying a not-so-tearful goodbye. Well, not so much goodbye as a "We'll see you again... in less than 25 years." As we move on to our next shared love -- the complete works of William Shakespeare -- we are supremely thankful for all the wonderful people we've met doing our podcast, the insights we've received from other Peaks fans, and the fabulous experience of watching the show we loved come to life again after more than two decades of being away. Just like the show, we likely will be returning at some point to revisit the last works of Frost & Lynch we didn't quite get to -- Rabbits, Fantastic Four, and all the other late-career work that may still be coming -- so keep an eye here in case any new Lynch/Frost productions do come to light. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to follow us on our updated social media accounts and contact us by email: On Twitter - https://twitter.com/thebickspod On Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/thebickspod/ Email - thebickspod@gmail.com We hope you'll join us on April 23rd, as we start our new journey into something almost as arcane and impenetrable as Inland Empire itself -- Shakespeare's plays!
On this episode, Nick and Dylan are joined by Aidan and Lindsay from the Bickering Peaks podcast to discuss a most eventful Part 16. The four reflect on the joyful (if brief) return of Dale Cooper, the pathetic demise of Richard Horne, and Lynch's depiction of violence towards women vis-à-vis the Audrey and Diane storylines. Special Guests: Aidan and Lindsay.
Let's take it back. Way back. It's the Summer of 1992. The viewing public had long since learned the answer to the question of "Who Killed Laura Palmer?"; Twin Peaks had been off the air for a year, and all hope for a revival and answers to the plethora of questions raised by the Season 2 finale had been thoroughly and hopelessly dashed (or piqued even further) by Fire Walk With Me. For some bewildering reason, the suits at ABC entrusted Lynch and Frost to come up with another TV show. A sitcom. Based on the mid-century variety shows that had long gone out of favour, and the hilarious hijinks going on backstage at the fictional Zoblotnick Broadcasting Company. Predating 30 Rock and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip by a good dozen or more years, On the Air was a baffling collection of 7 episodes (3 of which aired between late June/early July on ABC before the show was cancelled). It's surreal. It's bizarre. It's utterly weirdly fantastic. And it's the subject of this week's Bickering Peaks. (Recorded in early 2017, re-released with a new intro. We hope you enjoy!)
This week on the Northern Nerdcast Dan and Chelsea sit down to chat with Lindsay Stamhuis and Aidan Hailes from a podcast called Bickering Peaks.
Episode in English.
Part 13 - "What story is that, Charlie?" With so many avenues left open to explore, Part 13 chooses to dwell in the lives of our favourite Twin Peaks residents as they circumnavigate the worlds in which they reside. Sarah seems stuck in a loop; similarly, Big Ed, Norma, and James circle back to their starting positions, as if the last twenty five years hadn't changed a thing. Meanwhile, Audrey remains trapped...where? And DougieCoop's amazing ability to avoid danger proves useful once again. It's a jam-packed Part, and so it's a jam-packed episode of Bickering Peaks! Notes: Crazy Casino Music Big Ed Reflection WE WERE WRONG! Both Big Ed and Nadine are wearing rings. I guess we both need new glasses...
Continuing our discussion from Part 1, Becks and Eeson of Time for Cherry Pie and Coffee joined us at Bickering Peaks for a rousing chat about the evil in those woods...and in Buckhorn, South Dakota...and Las Vegas, Nevada...and New York City. Seems like no corner of the continental United States is safe from the machinations of Mother, BOB, and Mr. C! We also took a round of listener questions, so check out if your question made the cut! As always, we'd love to hear from you, so please drop us a line on Facebook, Twitter, or via email. It's Part 8 of Twin Peaks The Return! Join us as we recap and discuss the latest episode, not only one of the most striking hours of Twin Peaks so far, but perhaps of modern television itself. We try to make sense of events that take us back to the origins of Killer BOB and the meeting place above the Convenience Store, interweaving Twin Peaks mythology from screen and page with the Manhattan Project, aliens and Kafka. We can't promise any answers, only our accounts of what we saw. Contains big spoilers for Parts 1-8 and the Twin Peaks canon.NEXT TIME… Although Twin Peaks is taking a break next week, we’re not! We are teaming up with Lindsay and Aidan from Bickering Peaks for a special crossover episode: “Listening Post Alpha”. We’ll be talking about everything that has happened so far and where things might be going in the new season. We would love to have your questions and comments about anything you would like to discuss. Get in touch on Twitter, Facebook, or our website. Wherein we discuss the pilot episode of Twin Peaks. Here we meet the cast of characters who populate this quirky Pacific Northwest town where everything is not as it seems. We learn about their connections to each other and the murder of homecoming queen, Laura Palmer. (We also screw up and use the word "Lynchian" to describe not just thematic elements but directorial elements, which may not fall under the purview of the generally accepted definition of "Lynchian" but we correct ourselves eventually. And I think we also say that Washington abuts Montana, not Idaho. Oops. #UnitedStatesGeographyFail) But we also talk about some of the running themes that will come up again and again in future episodes, the mundane/macabre events that serve as guideposts for the way this town seems to operate, and have a nice chat about everyone's favourite FBI Agent, Dale Cooper. Suffice it to say, there's a lot to talk about in this very special two hour episode of Bickering Peaks.

The Twin Peaks Tapes of Agent Cooper", Coop is revealed to have been in Seattle before the events of the series begins, which is where he is handed the Palmer case
