In this Eyes Up Here Flashback episode, Francine takes us back to one of the wildest international experiences of her career—FMW’s 20th Anniversary Show in Japan. She was ringside for a high-stakes main event as Raven & Tommy Dreamer teamed up to face Tetsuhiro Kuroda & Hisakatsu Oya for the WEW World Tag Team Championships. From navigating culture shock to soaking in the energy of the FMW crowd, Francine shares behind-the-scenes memories, what it was like representing ECW overseas, and how this match became a highlight of her post-ECW run. If you love wrestling history with an extreme edge, you’ll love this one.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"Five years ago, America was in anguish. The killing of George Floyd didn't just break hearts—it broke something deeper. It shattered illusions. It exposed truths that were too often ignored, too easily silenced.Out of that pain, Colors was born. Two friends—one Black, one White—looked each other in the eye and said, We have to talk. Not later. Not when it's convenient. Now.We launched this podcast not as experts, but as witnesses—witnesses to injustice, to discomfort, and to the urgent need for a real, human dialogue on race in America.Chris Core joins me to talk about where things stand five years after we started this podcast. THE ANNIVERSARY SHOW 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING! This week is the OFFICIAL celebration of our first 10 years on the air...or internet whatever we're on, anyway this week we celebrate 10 years and 11 seasons of madness and fun AND...it's also our SEASON FINALE! What craziness will ensue as we wrap up the season? Find out that and tons more on The Smokin' Hot Toddcast 10th Anniversary Special! The Ollie Report is based on a hilarious segment from The Howard Stern Show.
You waited a month for another new Omakase (if you cared at all) but don't worry, because here's one that's over four hours long!! Wow! John is joined by first time guest and longtime listener Arametha as they spend the first half hour of this show embarrassingly weebing out together. Anime! Tokusatsu! Anime cons! Iowa city names, for some reason! Once that is mercifully out of the way, the two of them head to the World Wonder Ring for 90 minutes of STARDOM talk, starting with a full review of the Natsu & Saory 10th Anniversary Show from Ota Ward Gym. They talk about the impact of the original Actwres Girlz class, Saori & Poi apparently getting free reign over Bushiroad, some theories on why the young women wrestlers of Japan seem so far ahead of the men right now and much more! Then the two of them talk about recent shows in Osaka & Kyoto plus the two May Korakuens, before finally wrapping up the STARDOM talk with a brief look ahead to the next Korakuen show coming up in the first week of June. Then they move over to New Japan for a full recap of the Best of the Super Juniors 32 tournament, including a review of the finals match between YOH and Kosei Fujita, block rankings by average star rating with thoughts on each wrestler's tournaments, and some big picture thoughts on where the booking may have struggled. Afterward they give a brief audio preview of the upcoming Dominion card as John shares some thoughts on why they're not quite as hyped for this show as some others.Next the two of them talk about DREAM STAR FIGHTING MARIGOLD, a first for Omakase, with a full review of the Marigold Shine Forever show! They discuss the diverging paths of Marigold's young wrestlers, an absolutely *incredible* debut match, Mayu Iwatani's somewhat confusing "grand slam" goal, and the retirement of Nanae Takahashi (including some brief thoughts on her overall career and some past match recommendations if you're so inclined!).Finally, because this episode just wasn't long enough already, they wrap things up with some brief King of DDT thoughts on the semifinals and an outstanding final match, plus Minoru Suzuki vs. Danshoku Dieno, because why not at this point?! If you want to hear an absolute metric ton of Japanese wrestling audio, well, you've definitely come to the right place this week!Follow Wrestling Omakase on Twitter @WrestleOmakase, or follow John on Bluesky instead @justoneenby.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Jimmy and Producer Joe celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special live recording with guests Michael Emerson, Greg Pak and Cynthia Von Buhler. While a bit last minute due to schedules & other glitches, it all came together nicely! As usual, Jimmy wrote some silly parody songs and sang them along with the CNI Chorus consisting of Sara Garfinkel, Kami Graves and Amy Wolk. Always funnier since we didn't really rehearse it much. We also get a very special news segment with Sara and Kami though make sure you check their sources. Thanks to the friends who came and even brought friends! It was a different set up as well because Producer Joe had to stay in the tech booth for most of the show. But it all turned out to be the usual fun times had by all! Also, get a hold of us! Thanks for listening!

The actual 5th anniversary of the show flew by without mention which should not come as a surprise, but here we are. This week I'm talking about how I'm all done with the Red Sox, good music and then bad music and about the last 5 years of the show along with the good fortune I've had to talk with some great people. Then it's on to Three Gripes: Capitalism, people who talk on planes and common sense. After five years this show is still mostly awful, but occasionally less so...sadly, today is not one of those occasions! Check it out!
Greg shares the history of Priority Talk and plays audio clips of the first moments on the air in 2011 along with the show's first caller and other notable call-ins from listeners. During the live show, Tommy Tuberville announces he will be the next Governor of the Alabama.

No Soap Radio - Fibber McGee & Molly: The 6th Anniversary Show (1941) Our 8th NO SOAP RADIO production created in July, 2024. As always we're presenting this show exactly as written in 1941 for historical accuracy. We don't condone every attitude expressed in the show. You might recognize the voice of the actor playing Fibber. It's none other than Larry Groebe of Project Audion fame. This show was produced, directed and edited by Paul Kovit. Paul also managed to decipher the four part hamonies of The Kings Men. He then was able to recreate their song, “Let's Get Away From It All” using singers who were scattered throughout the U.S. We hope you like the results. CAST: Annette Bochenek as Mrs. Uppington Zach Dillinger as Harlow Wilcox Zach Eastman as The Old Timer Victoria Gordon as The Little Girl Larry Groebe as Fibber McGee Anne O'Sullivan as Molly Paul Patterson as The Oculist Tony Semczuk as Throckmorton Gildersleeve & Wallace Wimple Paul Kovit, Tony Semczuk, Mark Saunders, Alexander Rynerson as The Kings Men

In this episode of our podcast, DLS co-host Florian Duijsens tells us about journalist, writer, and witness to history Dorothy Thompson. As a foreign correspondent in Germany, she was among the first to caution against the growing tides of fascism, warning urgently against the Nazis and Hitler. Unfortunately, the world didn't listen. Dorothy continued to speak out throughout her life, and during her career peak, was read and heard on the radio by millions. Her personal life at times also made the news — she was married to Pulitzer Prize-winning author and alcoholic Sinclair ‘Hal' Lewis but was also less openly involved with German-Hungarian novelist, playwright and sculptor Christa Winsloe, the author of the notorious girl's boarding school lesbian story which became Mädchen in Uniform, an even more notorious film starring Dead Lady Romy Schneider. Katy Derbyshire, our other DLS co-founder joins host/producer Susan Stone to introduce the story.
