Scripture: Numbers 27:1-8, 11b Rev. Nicole Anderson from Lake Poinsett Camp & Living Waters Retreat Center joined us for worship on Camp Sunday and introduced us to the summer 2025 Camp Curriculum "Another Way." Campers this summer are going to learn about the daughters of Zelophehad. After their father died, the women faced the reality that they were going to lose everything because inheritances went to sons or men in the family. But the people of Israel realized the law needed to be changed, and it was. According to this scripture, if we bring a justice issue forward, another way is possible. Learn more about camp! But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Luke 15:1-2 3 common elements in the 3 parables: 1. There was something of TOP-NOTCH VALUE missing. 2. There was an ALL-OUT SEARCH. 3. There was a JOY-FILLED CELEBRATION. Takeaway: You MATTER to God. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10 REPENTAdventure Camp Memory Verse: “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10REPRESENT Will OCC be the church of the loving father or the older brother?

Pastor Clay and Eric met up to discuss all the fun we had on Camp Sunday and Pastor Clay's message about Simon's sudden name change in Matthew's Gospel. Jesus changes a part of Simon's identity and speaks destiny over his life. But Jesus is simply following in God's footsteps as names changed as a sign of covenantal promises. What impact does Jesus calling you by a different name make? You are a beloved child of God! Connect with the Canton UMC!

Lent 4 2023 (March 19)The more things look the same…the more they've actually changed. In this week's encounter with Jesus and a blind man (John 9), we open and close the story with two similar scenes: a man, on his knees, humbling looking up to Jesus. But reflection quickly reveals the situations are very different.Likewise, if we looked at our life in early March 2020 and early March 2023, we might say, wow, things look the same. But reflection quickly reveals the situations are very different.Pastor Rob works with how Jesus encounters the man, taking on his shame to heal him, as way of understanding how God has encountered us these past three years. The picture of is former and current camp staff as we hosted “Camp Sunday” today.

The feast of Epiphany (“manifestation”) concludes the Christmas season with a celebration of God's glory revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. That glory is proclaimed for all nations and people. Like the light of the star that guided the magi to Jesus, the light of Christ reveals who we are: children of God who are claimed and washed in the waters of baptism. We are sent out to be beacons of the light of Christ, sharing the good news of God's love to all people.Scripture Readings: Psalm 18:1-6, 16-19; Acts 4:8-13; Matthew 16:13-19
Pastor Sean R. Moore kicks off Man Camp Sunday by teaching on the sin of independence and Pastor Damon Davis follows up by teaching on the importance of being present.
Pastor Joey Salinas teaches on creating the atmosphere for revival and Min. Greg Colbert teaches on the importance of having the proper perspective.
The term “famous last words” is common, but what about famous first words? Steven Spielberg‘s first word was “Why?” He came out of the womb asking questions. This summer we will look at the most famous first words of all time. Jesus spent his first 30 years in obscurity and when he finally launched his public ministry, he did so with three chapters filled with wisdom, life lessons, and insight. Jesus' famous first words are known as the sermon on the mount and this summer we are going to see that 2000 years after they were first spoken they are just as life-changing.
