Although it seemed appropriate from the beginning, I wrote this homily intentionally omitting references to President Biden--we've had our fair share of intense politics. But then I came across the news of what he did on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and his first day in office. Even if codifying Roe v. Wade is something he was planning to do, there was no need to highlight this on the day we mourn for the 65 million aborted babies in the last 48 years. This was an affront of the middle-finger type to Catholics in good standing with the Church. Because of his high office and his promotion of his Catholicism, this poses a grave danger to Catholics in general, and children in particular. If procuring an abortion results in an automatic excommunication, can supporting abortion really be moral and not affect one's standing with the Church? I approached this issue not in terms of policy, but in terms of the consistency and coherency of such a faith with Christ's words in the Gospel, and leave it to you to honestly determine whether the proposed logic rooted in history is flawed or compels affirmation...

[Page 283]Abstract: With the trained eye of an anthropologist and a historian, Steven Olsen refutes claims that the Book of Mormon is a simple hodge-podge of biblical phrases and responses to controversies that Joseph Smith absorbed from his surroundings. Through a careful discussion of four main claims, he illustrates his thesis that the Book of […] The post The Covenant of Christ's Gospel in the Book of Mormon first appeared on The Interpreter Foundation.
In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss the hostility among people that seems to surround us. Malice - among nations, between ethnicities, against other races, toward different political or religious views, of one person against another. Why is that? When it doesn't have to be this way. We discuss New Testament cases of animosity resulting in violent persecution and the fact that God has no racial, ethnic or gender partiality. We note that Christ's Gospel removes prejudice and strife when obeyed. Finally, we discuss some things we need to remember. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. We encourage you to have your bible available to make sure we use the scriptures correctly.

Bible study from 2.Corinthians.
Christ's Gospel flavors our lives and seasons our conversations. It's too good to take off the table.
2 Corinthians 4:1-7. The heart of the Church's ministry is to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christians facing all the challenges associated with ministering to an almost-Christian culture often find the work discouraging. In this message, pastor Richard encourages the Church to remain faithful to Christ's Gospel.

My walk with Christ. From lost in the teachings of man, to saved in Christ's Gospel!
This week people across the nation remember tragic acts of violence committed against other humans in Orlando, FL and Charleston, SC. At the Pulse Nightclub, nearly 50 people were killed, mostly homosexuals, by a person who was apparently struggling with sexual orientation issues. At Mother Emanuel AME Church, 9 persons were killed after a bible study because of a young deranged man using race as a motive to commit such a crime. The chuch universal is affected whenever violence occurs because the church is made of people. Is it the church's responsibility to raise awareness of these hate crimes? How can the church create one voice to speak directly to those who have hate in their hearts towards their fellow humans? Join Pastor Neal for this and other topics on Zera Today

A new MP3 sermon from Still Waters Revival Books is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: The World Turned Upside Down: Christ's Gospel Does Turn the World Upside Down Subtitle: 1 Spurgeon Sermons from SWRB Speaker: C. H. Spurgeon Broadcaster: Still Waters Revival Books Event: Audio Book Date: 8/16/2016 Bible: Acts 17:6; John 18:36 Length: 47 min.
Our Scripture verse on preaching is 2 Timothy 3:15-16 which reads: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." Our quote on preaching today is from Walter Chantry. He said, "Much of modern preaching is anaemic, with the life-blood of God's nature absent from the message. Evangelists centre their message upon the man. Man has sinned and missed a great blessing. If man wants to retrieve his immense loss he must act thus and so. But the Gospel of Christ is very different. It begins with God and His glory. It tells men that they have offended a holy God, who will by no means pass by sin. It reminds sinners that the only hope of salvation is to be found in the grace and power of this same God. Christ's Gospel sends men to beg pardon of the Holy One." Our first topic is titled "The Call to the Ministry, Part 8" from "Lectures to My Students" by Charles H. Spurgeon. He writes: Prophets whose words are powerless, sowers whose seed all withers, fishers who take no fish, soldiers who give no wounds–are these God's men? Surely it were better to be a mud-raker, or a chimney-sweep, than to stand in the ministry as an utterly barren tree. The meanest occupation confers some benefit upon mankind, but the wretched man who occupies a pulpit and never glorifies his God by conversions is a blank, a blot, an eyesore, a mischief. He is not worth the salt he eats, much less his bread; and if he writes to newspapers to complain of the smallness of his salary, his conscience, if he has any, might well reply, "And what you have is undeserved." ... Our second topic is titled "The Qualifications of the Preacher, Part 21" from "The Preacher and his Preaching" by Alfred P. Gibbs. This section is titled: HE MUST BE FIT FOR THE WORK (PART 6) The preaching gift must be developed in the atmosphere of spirituality. Spiritual gifts require spiritual power for their operation. This demands that the preacher himself must be spiritual. We cannot do better than quote the weighty words of an honored servant of Christ, the late Henry Groves. Speaking of the early disciples, he said, “It was a spiritual work they had to do, therefore He spiritualized the men who were to do it. It was faith they had to plant, therefore He made His missionaries men of faith. They had to deliver the nations from the idolatry of gold and silver, therefore He took care His messengers should have none. ... Our third topic is titled "Tools of the Trade, Part 5" from "Biblical Preaching" by Haddon W. Robinson. He writes: Topical exposition faces two problems. First, the topic we are considering may be dealt with in several passages of Scripture. Each of the individual passages, therefore, must be examined in its context. Isolating a single passage on which to base a teaching may ignore tensions built into the biblical record. Usually, topical exposition takes more study than exposition based on a single passage. ...
I've not met a more happily fearless person than Benny Prasad. From our first communications, he proved friendly and intriguing. As a world traveler, he's full of amazing stories of sharing Christ's Gospel to those in the world most hostile toward it. I asked Benny if he feels fear in these situations and simply overcomes it with bravery. He told me "no," that once you're through being afraid of death, you become free to share Christ with anyone, no matter how hostile to Jesus they may be. He truly lives free from fear. It's a work only the Holy Spirit can do - Benny is an astonishing creation of our Lord. But don't take my word for it. Watch! And hear how Benny trusts God implicitly, to the point of facing possible death, while tapping into God's presence to derive his security. Oh, and he has a *really* cool guitar.

What do we mean when we speak of "revival"? Interim Chaplain Dr. Dave McDowell explores the characteristics of revival throughout church history. He lists five characteristics of revivals: 1) Revivals are often preceded by faithful preaching of the Word, as well as a time of crisis; 2) they entail acute awareness of the resplendent glory of God, as well as awareness of the depth of our sin; 3) they consist of both confession and repentance of sin, as well as knowledge of the forgiveness of sin; 4) revivals cannot be controlled—they begin and end suddenly; and 5) revivals greatly impact society and the spread of the Christ's Gospel throughout the world.
