If God owns it all, how do we steward what he gives us?We learn from Jesus how to steward what he entrusts to us in all aspects of life. It fits into how we participate in God's creation mandate and gospel mission. In a fresh teaching on Jesus' parable of the talents, Pastor Roger discusses "the tragedy of wasted opportunity." The emphasis in this parable is on working, not for our salvation but as evidence of the grace of God in our lives. Tune in as we learn about the responsibility we receive, the reaction we have, the reckoning we face, and the reward we gain as we pursue the call to "be faithful to maximize [our] opportunity" by taking what we've been given and produce a return for the Master. -Featuring Roger Hirth

In session seven of Entrusted, false teachers opposed marriage and instructed their followers to abstain from certain foods. These deceptive doctrines led people away from the truth found in Scripture that Jesus came to fulfill the Law and through Him all things are declared clean.Verses Used:1 Timothy 4:3-7Genesis 1:27Proverbs 12:4Proverbs 18:22Hebrews 13:4Romans 10:3-4Ephesians 2:15Discussion Questions:1. What false doctrines were being taught in 1 Timothy 4:1-7? What are modern day examples of restrictions people try to impose on others in the name of God? Why is this so harmful?2. Have you ever found yourself believing something that later turned out to be contrary to Scripture? What helped you recognize the truth and realign your perspective?3. How can you ensure you are trusting in sound doctrine? ( See 1 Timothy 4:6, Hebrews 5:14)4. How does Paul address personal convictions regarding food and drink in Romans 14:14-21 and Romans 14:2- 4? How does this freedom in Christ apply today? 5. Why do we tend to judge others based on our personal preferences?
Pastor James continues our series, Entrusted, walking through the book of 2 Timothy. This week we looked at 2 Timothy 2:14-19 and saw that we must rightly handle the truth of the Gospel.
In the final week of our Entrusted series, we see how the unfaithful servant wasted what was given to him out of fear and complacency, missing the purpose his master intended. Jesus warns us through this parable that fear can paralyze our faith, and wasted potential is still disobedience. Yet, when we courageously use what God has entrusted to us—our time, gifts, and opportunities—faithfulness leads to joy and fruit that outlives us. This week challenges us to live not for “well liked,” but for “well done, good and faithful servant.”

In session six of Entrusted, we learn about the importance of serving and how it is central to our calling as followers of Christ. To follow Him is to serve Him. When we serve others, we bring glory to God and reflect His love in action. Verses Used:1 Timothy 3:8-16Acts 6:1-41 Corinthians 3:5-9Ephesians 6: 6 & 7John 12:26Discussion Questions:What are the requirements listed for a deacon in 1 Timothy 3:8-12? Why are these important? What is the impact on the church if those in leadership don't possess these qualities? What things do we see deacons (also translated as servants or ministers) do in Scripture? (See Colossians 1:25-29, 1 Corinthians 3:5-9, Ephesians 6:21-22, and Colossians 4:7-9)What are modern-day examples of what roles deacons may fulfill? What does 1 Timothy 3:13 say that deacons receive? How would being a servant in the church grant you great confidence in the faith? What keeps you from serving? Read the verse James 1:22. What does obedience to this verse look like?
In Matthew 25, we’re reminded that the Master will return, and how we steward what God has entrusted to us matters. God celebrates faithfulness, not perfection or results, and invites us to share in His joy through obedience and perseverance. Faithfulness requires action—our quiet, unseen efforts count just as much as the visible ones. Every step of faithful living now prepares us for the eternal reward of hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
In Session Five of Entrusted, we explore the qualifications for the role of elder (overseer) within the church. This list includes essential qualities such as being above reproach, faithful in relationships, self-controlled, hospitable, gentle, and spiritually mature. Each of us is called to respect and support our elders. As we do, we not only honor God's design for leadership but the church as a whole thrives spiritually.Verses Used:1 Timothy 3:1Acts 20:281 Timothy 3:2-31 Timothy 3:4-51 Timothy 3:6-7Hebrews 13:171 Thessalonians 5:12-13Discussion Questions:Read the qualifications of an elder in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Why do you think this is such a long list? What is the impact on the church when it is not led by men of good repute? What impact on the surrounding community does an elder have who meets Biblical qualifications? How does Hebrews 13:17a describe the role of leaders in the church? What does Hebrews 13:17b instruct us to do? What does this mean? How have you seen this done well? How have you seen this done poorly?

Entrusted with the GospelSeries: Lectionary Preacher: Rev. Jeff SimpsonDate: 1st October 2025Passage: 2 Timothy 1:1-14
As Paul addresses order within the church, he outlines specific boundaries for women that are not rooted in competence or experience, but in God's ordained structure of authority. He emphasizes that there is both protection and blessing in embracing our God-given roles, not only within our homes but also in the life of the church. In Session Four of Entrusted, we explore Scripture's instruction for women as they pursue a life marked by godliness.Verses Used:1 Timothy 2:9-101 Peter 3:3-41 Timothy 2:11-15Genesis 2:18 & 21-23Genesis 3:27-28Genesis 3:9Discussion Questions:How does Paul want women to adorn themselves in 1 Timothy 2:9? Why do you think this matters, and how can this verse be applied in present day? What does Paul say should accompany a woman who makes a claim to godliness in 1 Timothy 2:10?As a believer, why are good works important, and what should be the result of our good works? (See Ephesians 2:10 and Matthew 5:14-16?Why does Paul say he does not allow a woman to exercise authority over a man, and to what contexts does this statement apply? What are possible interpretations of 1 Timothy 2:15 where it says, “women will be preserved through the bearing of children?” Which do you think is most valid?
Pastor James continues our series, Entrusted, walking through the book of 2 Timothy. This week we saw that we must be unashamed of the Gospel.
Kyle Kauffman | Sept 28 2025 Our bodies are such an important part of our lives in this world, and yet we don't often stop to reflect on what God says about our bodies and what our bodies say about God. Our bodies are designed by God, belong to Him, and are central to His redemptive plan. Though deeply affected by sin—our bodies remain good, and for the Christian our bodies have been purchased by Jesus and are now temples where God dwells. We are called to see our bodies as gifts to be honored, cared for, and used for God's glory and service. Even in suffering, our physical limitations are part of God's good design and refinement. And as Christians we know that while our bodies play a part in our identity, the most important part of our identity is Christ who now dwells in us.
