Christ's Advent: We believe that the eternal Son of God came into this world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. He was born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Ghost, received a human body, and a sinless nature.Salvation: We believe that, owing to death through sin, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again. This redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made to be sin, dying in our stead, and that He was bodily and physically raised from the dead for our justification. We believe that the new birth of the believer is an act of the Holy Ghost and comes only through individual faith in Christ.The Church: We believe that God has ordained that through the local church the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be spread and that it is the duty of everyone who is born again to seek out a local fellowship for the furtherance of the Gospel and his own edification. I spent half of my life in and out of jails, prisons, rehabs, and other facilities.  Unfortunately, the programs that were offered did not help me to become a productive member of society, it just made me a better inmate.  Whatchanged me, was a new life in Jesus Christ and reading/studying a King James Bible.Many prisons, jails, and other institutions have heard from many of their inmates that they are changed due to religion. However, most are seen back within the next year or two. As God gave Moses a burden for the Children of Israel, so God gave me a burden for those in jails and prisons. Churches send missionaries to foreign countries, in support, hopes and prayers, they can win the nationals to Jesus, train them and then send the nationals back to their own people. This is what Jesus has done for me. He saved me out of this life of crimes and addiction, and now sends me back to my people who are in jails/prisons, to win them to Christ and send them back to their own peopleThis is where Liberty Behind Bars Ministry steps in.  Not only do we minister to those behind the jail walls we help them transition into society; differently than they did in the past.  The goal is to break the cycle of recidicism and help people have a changed life in Jesus Christ.  I have my Doctorate in Christian Biblical Counseling and use this knowledge to not only help those within the jail/prison walls, but also to support their family members.  You may also write to us at:Liberty Behind Bars MinistryP.O. James Fraser exemplified this through his innovative approach: he formed an “entrepreneurial” network of intercessors back in England, tasking them with regular, committed prayers for the Lisu people he was trying to reach in remote China. These prayers were not haphazard; they were systematic and intentional, teaching us that powerful prayer often involves faithful partnership and unwavering commitment across distance and time. A major turning point in Fraser's ministry—and in Jenny Guinness' understanding—came in the realization that demonic oppression wasn't an ancient relic but a present reality for many. Fraser's confrontation with the demonic practices among the Lisu forced him to wrestle with New Testament accounts of spiritual warfare and rely on more than just persuasive words; he learned to battle through persistent, “fighting” prayer anchored in scripture, much like Jesus did when confronted by evil. Fraser's persistence, even in the face of repeated setbacks and unresponsiveness, illustrates that prayer is more than asking for blessings—it is warfare for spiritual breakthrough. Jenny Guinness points out the importance of leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God during spiritual opposition. Fraser labored for years without visible results among the Lisu, which led to moments of deep discouragement. However, he learned the critical lesson of not giving up, trusting God's timing above his own. Jenny Guinness discusses practical steps when facing unanswered prayer, including honest spiritual “inventory”: humbly asking whether there's unresolved sin, spiritual strongholds, or simply an issue of God's timing at work. Even when prayer seems unanswered, the lesson is to keep the lifeline to God open, trusting His goodness and perfect timing. When discussing Halloween, Jenny Guinness cautions us, that while many cultural celebrations are harmless for children, the spiritual realm is real. Christians are called not to live in fear, but to be wise, discerning, and rooted in biblical truth, aware of ways the enemy seeks footholds. To inform and equip believers for spiritual battles, Jenny Guinness recommends resources by authors such as Francis McNutt, Derek Prince, and Randy Clark. She emphasizes that understanding and engaging in spiritual warfare should be based on biblical principles, wisdom, and community support—not fear or curiosity. Let's commit to the kind of prayer that is persistent, Spirit-led, and shaped by scripture—standing together as the body of Christ even across great distances, for God's glory and the freedom of others. He was a Galilean, the son of Alphaeus, and was originally named Levi. He was a tax-collector (an occupation despised by the Jews of Palestine) until he met the Lord, who said to him, "Follow me." From that day he was one of the disciples.   After the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the Apostle was appointed to bring the Gospel to his fellow Jews, for whom, according to the Church's tradition, he wrote down the Gospel for the first time, in the Aramaic language, eight years after the Ascension. Some years later, this book was translated into Greek by St James, the first Bishop of Jerusalem. No copy in the original language has survived.   Later, St Matthew traveled to Parthia and the city of Hierapolis (on the Euphrates river) to proclaim the Gospel to the pagans there. One tradition holds that he reposed in peace in that region at a great age. Another tradition holds that he was martyred by a king of that region, who later repented and was baptized, taking the name Matthew. The king then cast down the idols and established the Christian faith in his realm.   When St Matthew is portrayed in icons, the likeness of a man is shown with him, one of the four living creatures spoken of in the first chapter of Ezekiel. St Irenaeus writes that the man symbolizes Christ's Incarnation.

The third of our “Johns” of Series 17 is only the second native-born Englishman since the 8th century to be raised by the Church to the status of Doctor of the Church. It is because of this remarkable man, and what was done by Pope Leo XIV on 1 November 2025 in Rome, that I designed Series 17 to include these three Johns: John the Evangelist, John Chrysostom, and John Henry Newman. It is one thing to be a profound thinker, even a holy thinker of the great Mysteries of God and God's way with human beings. John Henry Newman was that. But it is quite another capacity for that same person to be able to stay in close to the way human beings actually are - Pope Francis spoke of pastors being “close enough to the sheep to take on their smell” - rather than as they ought to be. John Henry Newman was this also. There is a beautiful, articulate humanity that comes through in John's writings.In order to get a sense of this about John, I have chosen to concentrate attention on his justly revered Parochial and Plain Sermons (eight volumes of them), paying close attention to perhaps four of those sermons. Welcome to the conclusion of Series 17 of The Night School.
