The gospel of God is to be offered freely to all. Accordingly, all who hear the gospel have a warrant to believe it. As Samuel Rutherford wrote, 'reprobates have as fair a warrant to believe as the elect have.' This week we consider the offer of the gospel made freely by God, addressed to every sinner—indeed, addressed to you and to me.    Featured resources: – Iain H. Acts Chapter 14 Bible Study: Paul's Steadfast Gospel Preaching Amid Persecution and Miracles

In this Bible study on Acts chapter 14, Paul and Barnabas preach in Iconium (modern Konya, Turkey), leading many Jews and Greeks to believe despite opposition, then flee threats of stoning to Lystra and Derbe in Lycaonia, continuing to share the gospel defined in 1 Corinthians 15 as Christ's death for sins, burial, and resurrection witnessed by Cephas, the twelve, and over 500 brethren. In Lystra, Paul commands a lifelong cripple with perceived faith to stand, resulting in the man leaping and walking, though the crowd mistakes Paul for Mercury and Barnabas for Jupiter and attempts sacrifices until the apostles urge turning to the living God who created all things and left witnesses through fruitful seasons for all nations descending from Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After Jews from Antioch and Iconium stone Paul nearly to death, he rises, returns to strengthen disciples amid tribulation, ordains elders with prayer and fasting, and preaches through Pisidia, Pamphylia, Perga, and Attalia before reporting in Antioch how God opened faith to Gentiles. The study emphasizes believers' burden to reach others with the gospel, the need for steadfastness without forsaking assembly for mutual exhortation, and entering spiritual battle upon salvation while knowing God never leaves us.

Bobby looks back on the life and ministry of Pastor Russ G. Young, the faithful shepherd who shaped his family, church, and calling. From a hungry youth group that exploded from ~15 teens to hundreds, to a church built—literally and spiritually—on the Word, Pastor Young modeled uncompromising preaching, Spirit-dependence, and love for souls. Bobby recounts personal moments (including sharing gratitude at Pastor Young's bedside) and connects the story to a call for total surrender and confidence that, in Christ, we are “more than conquerors.” The episode is part remembrance and part rallying cry for young believers to say “yes” to Jesus and watch God use their lives.Topics DiscussedPastor Russ Young's legacy in Maple Shade/Pennsauken, NJPreaching the Bible plainly and applying it to real teen issuesYouth ministry that was both fun and gospel-focused (“Bigger & Better,” outreach, soulwinning)God's providence in redirecting callings (missionary aviation → pastor)The power of Spirit-anointed preaching and evangelismSurrender, obedience, and living as “more than conquerors” in ChristGratitude, grief, and hope in the face of deathKey TakeawaysFaithful, clear Bible preaching—without apology or compromise—shapes lives and churches.God often redirects good plans to His best; say “yes” to Jesus and trust His leading.Healthy youth ministry blends joyful activity with bold, gospel-centered proclamation.Legacy multiplies through people reached, discipled, and sent.In Christ, even grief is framed by victory: we are more than conquerors through His love. From curvy mountain roads to palm-lined beaches, Ben's journey was filled with gospel opportunities—three Cola Clash–style youth outreaches, preaching in multiple communities, and connecting with local believers. Yet, the greatest lesson came not from the events themselves, but from what followed: the urgent need to pray for and invest in disciples, not just decisions. Through firsthand experiences and the example of national pastor Jeremy Scott, Ben shares how intentional, life-on-life ministry can break strongholds and multiply lasting fruit.Topics DiscussedLocation, culture, and spiritual climate of GrenadaInternship under national pastor Jeremy ScottThree Cola Clash–style youth outreaches in Victoria, Chantimelle, and Mount RichOvercoming challenges of rainy season and cultural differencesSpiritual strongholds: works-based religion, drinking, immorality, and subtle animismMiraculous connections with young men hungry for God's WordThe importance of praying for disciples as fervently as for salvation decisionsPastor Scott's “life-on-life” discipleship modelApplying disciplemaking principles both overseas and in the U.S.Ben's personal call to missions and growing burden for the Hispanic worldKey TakeawaysSalvation decisions are only the starting point; true Great Commission work requires making disciples.Prayer for discipleship should be just as urgent and intentional as prayer for conversions.Life-on-life investment—sharing ministry and everyday moments—is essential for spiritual growth.Cultural openness to the gospel does not eliminate the need to address deep-rooted spiritual strongholds. The principles of effective disciplemaking overseas are just as vital to practice at home.If you have your own unique story of gospel advance or if you sense God leading you toward a particular people group, we'd love to hear about it. The Gospel is the proclamation that God has triumphed over sin and death through the work of Jesus. Every Christian sermon has to proclaim this Gospel by announcing the death and resurrection of Jesus. Since the whole text of Holy Scripture centers on Jesus' death and resurrection, every sermon has to explain, illustrate, and apply the sermon text. The job of the sermon is not merely to explain and instruct in good theology, but to explain and apply the text itself. And while the question of whether or not the sermon should apply the text by telling people what to do is sometimes controversial in churches that believe in salvation by grace through faith alone, applying the text not by giving rules but by applying the Gospel is mandatory. In other words, the Gospel is not just news that sins are forgiven, it's also the good news that Jesus is Lord of the universe, and now we are free–by the power of Jesus–to be the humans he has redeemed us to be.
