For as long as Cigar Coop has been coming to the PCA/IPCPR Trade Show, Matt Booth and his Room101 brand have been present. The #25 Cigar of the Year for 2024 is the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022. The BII Viso Jalapa was first introduced by Cavalier Genève in 2021 as the third regular production line branded with the Cavalier brand. A little over a year later, Cavalier would launch its “Limited Release” series. The Cavalier Limited Release Series consists of “one-and-done” releases derived from their core lines but in one size with what the company describes as “interesting twists.” BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 was the first installment. This is no surprise, as the booth has been one of the most popular ever since Plasencia Cigars launched its brand at the 2017 IPCPR Show. In fact, the booth was named PCA's Best Medium-Sized Booth. In addition, the Cigar Coop team recognized Plasencia's booth as one of the top booths. This year, Plasencia showcased a new line extension to its Plasencia 149 line called Cortez. In 2011, La Palina Cigars introduced its second line, El Diario. La Palina positioned El Diario as an everyday smoke and was one meant to be more affordable than its ultra-premium Family Series. El Diario went on to capture Cigar Coop's #1 Cigar of the Year for 2011. The following year, La Palina unveiled a 4 1/4 x 40 petit corona line extension with a more robust tweaked blend known as KB. KB stands for “Kill Bill,” and it was named because the prototype of the sample given to La Palina owner Bill Paley was so strong that it threw him for a loop. Later, La Palina released a second KB size in the form of a 6 x 40 vitola, the KB II. Fast forward to 2021, and La Palina decided to discontinue the El Diario line while launching a new line around KB. In addition to the KB and KB II sizes coming over, La Palina added two new sizes: Part Three (5 x 52) and Part Four (6 x 54). There aren't any new offerings from Topper Cigars this year, but there were a couple of things of interest. First up, there is a second production run of the Topper 125th Anniversary Cigar - which, as the name indicates, commemorates 125 years of Topper Cigars. It's a stunning display that gives the feel of the El Reloj factory from both the inside and the outside. This year all of the new projects showcased at the J.C. Newman booth had a connection with El Reloj. This includes a new limited edition cigar being done out of the factory as well as some collectible accessories that feature El Reloj's signature product, Cigar Coop's 2020 Cigar of the Year, The American. In 2022, Quesada Cigars celebrated the 75th birthday of its patriarch, Manuel "Manolo" Quesada. At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Quesada Cigars would celebrate another milestone - the 15th anniversary of Casa Magna. Quesada Cigars is releasing a commemorative cigar to mark the occasion - the Casa Magna XV.  Quesada also had its annual Quesada Oktoberfest release showcased this year. Quesada Cigars has been on a roll the past few years, and in 2022 Cigar Coop voted Quesada's TABADEX the Small/Medium Factory of the Year.
