This week marks the 10th anniversary of Donald Trump's infamous escalator ride that began his run for the presidency and command of the headlines over the past ten years. Michael asks you this provocative question: Does Barack Obama have any obligation to be more visible in his opposition to Donald Trump? As political violence escalates and leadership on the left feels absent, is Obama's silence a problem—or is it the former President's right? Hear Michael's take, and more reflections on recent violence against lawmakers. A must-listen for anyone following the 2025 (and even 2028) political drama.

You waited a month for another new Omakase (if you cared at all) but don't worry, because here's one that's over four hours long!! Wow! John is joined by first time guest and longtime listener Arametha as they spend the first half hour of this show embarrassingly weebing out together. Anime! Tokusatsu! Anime cons! Iowa city names, for some reason! Once that is mercifully out of the way, the two of them head to the World Wonder Ring for 90 minutes of STARDOM talk, starting with a full review of the Natsu & Saory 10th Anniversary Show from Ota Ward Gym. They talk about the impact of the original Actwres Girlz class, Saori & Poi apparently getting free reign over Bushiroad, some theories on why the young women wrestlers of Japan seem so far ahead of the men right now and much more! Then the two of them talk about recent shows in Osaka & Kyoto plus the two May Korakuens, before finally wrapping up the STARDOM talk with a brief look ahead to the next Korakuen show coming up in the first week of June. Then they move over to New Japan for a full recap of the Best of the Super Juniors 32 tournament, including a review of the finals match between YOH and Kosei Fujita, block rankings by average star rating with thoughts on each wrestler's tournaments, and some big picture thoughts on where the booking may have struggled. Afterward they give a brief audio preview of the upcoming Dominion card as John shares some thoughts on why they're not quite as hyped for this show as some others.Next the two of them talk about DREAM STAR FIGHTING MARIGOLD, a first for Omakase, with a full review of the Marigold Shine Forever show! They discuss the diverging paths of Marigold's young wrestlers, an absolutely *incredible* debut match, Mayu Iwatani's somewhat confusing "grand slam" goal, and the retirement of Nanae Takahashi (including some brief thoughts on her overall career and some past match recommendations if you're so inclined!).Finally, because this episode just wasn't long enough already, they wrap things up with some brief King of DDT thoughts on the semifinals and an outstanding final match, plus Minoru Suzuki vs. Danshoku Dieno, because why not at this point?! If you want to hear an absolute metric ton of Japanese wrestling audio, well, you've definitely come to the right place this week!Follow Wrestling Omakase on Twitter @WrestleOmakase, or follow John on Bluesky instead @justoneenby.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

After being closed for renovations, the Mario Finlayson gallery has now reopened and is looking better than ever to mark its 10th anniversary. The gallery celebrates Gibraltar's heritage and identity, featuring work from Mario Finlayson, Gustavo Bacarisas and others, and has added a new room with works by Christian Hook. Today's episode was recorded live from the Mario Finlayson gallery, as they hosted an open day for its reopening. Minister for Culture Christian Santos was a friend of Mario Finlayson and no stranger to City Hall from his time as Mayor. He told us how grateful he was that Mario Finlayson was able to experience the gallery before his passing. One of Gibraltar's most renowned current artists Christian Hook highlighted how important it is for locals to see the evolution of Gibraltarian art and inspire future generations of artists, and told us how Mario Finlayson encouraged him to pursue a career in art.Mercedes Corbacho knows Gibraltarian art very well. She's the Director of Museo Cruz Herera de La Linea, and also works as a restorer. As a result, she has a close relationship with Gibraltarian artists and their pieces.Alice Mascarenhas has family ties to Mario Finlayson, and has fond memories of interviewing him throughout her career. She told us how Mario carried the history of local art with him, and felt strongly that Gibraltar needed a national art gallery. She's put together a panel that will be celebrating the legacy of Mario Finlayson. From one family member to another: Richard Gomila, known from the band Vibrations, also happens to be Mario Finlayson's nephew. He recounted how much creative flare Mario had, and how he loved not just painting but other forms of art too. Chief Cultural Officer Seamus Byrne has, along with his team, have worked incredibly hard to renovate the gallery. He feels strongly about how every painting tells a story, and how their work will be remembered for generations to come. Davina Barbara is part of the team from Cultural Services told us how thrilled she is to see such great feedback from visitors to the new and improved gallery. We put her on the spot to try and pick a favourite Gibraltarian artist, but found that she was spoilt for choice. And having recently won the Spring Visual Arts competition, local artist Naomi Duarte shared her excitement in being part of the renovation project, and how inspiring it is to be surrounded by so many local works. She's keen to promote Gibraltarian art to young people in the future. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The tenth anniversary of the 1980 eruption inspired the station to mount an ambitious and expensive production, the likes of which aren't seen much on the radio landscape these days. As described on the May 18, 2025 broadcast of CASCADE OF HISTORY by Bill Yeend and Andy Ludlum, the pair broadcast from the edge of the volcano's crater from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with a mixture of live and pre-recorded reports. Yeend and Ludlum were joined in the broadcast tent by KIRO Newsradio 71's managing editor Karen Anderson and broadcast engineer Norm Graham. Among other voices heard on this recording are Paul Brendle, John Chelminiak, Dave Dolacky, Rebecca Hale, Gregg Hersholt, Dave Stone, Kathleen Warren and former Governor Dixy Lee Ray. Ten years ago this month we launched our first show at a time of new beginnings for podcasts. We were early to this game, and well before podcasting became part of mainstream media. In contrast to other shows about politics and current affairs we ran against the grain, avoiding snarky slogans and angry attacks. How Do We Fix It? focused instead on solutions journalism and what might be improved if we listen carefully to others who we don't agree with. We urge listeners to get out of their comfort zone.Right from the start, co-hosts Jim Meigs (leans red) and Richard Davies (leans blue) embraced nuance and celebrated the ideas of contrarians and compromisers alike. Their weekly podcast partnership lasted nine years. Together in this episode Richard and Jim consider a range of ideas that we have discussed. Our podcast was well ahead of many others in its stout defense of free speech for all sides and firm support of enlightenment ideals. We also share examples here of how we broke ground with episodes on the impact of smartphones on children and college students, the spread of COVID, and the need for carbon-free nuclear power to be part of the response to climate change. In this episode we include extracts from our rich catalog of episodes that date back to 2015. All of our shows can be found at howdowefixit.me.Recommendations: Jim and Richard are both avid podcast listeners. Two of their favorites are "Breaking History" and "Strangers on a Bench". Eli Lake interviews historians, academics and reporters for Breaking History, "mining the past of human experience to figure out the present. " British singer-songwriter Tom Rosenthal hosts Strangers on a Bench. He meets people for the first time while sitting on a park bench, usually somewhere in London.. How Do We Fix It? is a proud member of the Democracy Group podcast network. We recorded this episode at The Manhattan Institute in New York. Thanks for their help and support. Hosted on Acast. While it may have served Will Wood well to fall in line with the demands many artists face when confronted with an unexpected viral moment, the cult singer-songwriter has remained defiantly himself. In the theater, Wood's emotive storytelling and standup intertwines with his widely varying style of music in a way that refuses to conform to either tradition, and when with his band his raucous "Tapeworms" concerts are equally unconventional. His upcoming "Mr. Wood is Dead" 10-year-anniversary tour will be bringing both around the country, in front of larger audiences than ever before. All Home Care Matters and our host, Lance A. Slatton were honored to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of AlzAuthors with the founding members and more.   About Marianne Sciucco:   Marianne Sciucco is a founder of AlzAuthors and the author of Blue Hydrangeas, an Alzheimer's love story. She's also co-producer and host of their podcast Untangling Alzheimer's and Dementia.   About Deb Bunt:   Deb took early retirement from her role in the youth offending service in London and moved to Suffolk seven years ago. As well as acquiring four grandchildren since she's been in Suffolk, she has also built an enduring friendship with Peter. This friendship Peter has given Deb a new lens through which to view her life.   Peter has enabled Deb to fulfil one of her life's ambitions – to be a published writer – and she now spends her time with Peter raising awareness of the condition or cycling insane distances around the county. Without question, Peter has enriched Deb's life.   About Tanya Ward Goodman:   Tanya Ward Goodman is the author of the award winning memoir, “Leaving Tinkertown.” Her essays and articles about travel, art, and the challenges and rewards of caregiving have appeared in numerous publications including The Washington Post, Orange County Register, Luxe, Premium Magazine, Atlas Obscura, and Variable West.   About Vicki Tapia:   Trained as an educator, Vicki Tapia has a proclivity for caring, spending over 30 years working as a Lactation Consultant teaching mothers and babies the art of breastfeeding.   When both her parents were diagnosed with dementia (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's-related) within a few months of each other, she took on the role of caregiver. As a coping mechanism, Vicki kept a journal detailing the many challenges her family faced along the way. Over time, her diary became a roadmap of sorts, morphing into the award-winning memoir Somebody Stole My Iron: A Family Memoir of Dementia.   About Dorothy Horne: Dorothy Horne is an author, speaker, and a former award-winning blogger for the Longview News-Journal. She was honored to be named a “Star Over Longview” in 2016. Dorothy is a member of AlzAuthors, “a global community of authors writing about Alzheimer's and dementia from personal experience to light the way for others." She has served on the board of the East Texas Alzheimer's Alliance and facilitated several Alzheimer's support groups. Dorothy is a retired first grade teacher. One of her greatest delights is being "Dot-Dot" to her four grandsons. She lives in East Texas and enjoys photography and traveling.   About Susan Landeis:   Susan is a member of the AlzAuthors management team and Board of Directors. She became a featured author on the AlzAuthors website in 2020, and team member later the same year. Her roles include Graphic Designer, Curator of Custom Caregiver Collections, and LinkedIn Manager.    Susan is the author of her memoir, In Search of Rainbows: A daughter's story of loss, hope, and redemption and she also penned Optimal Caregiving: A guide for managing senior health and well-being.   About Jean Lee:   Jean Lee wrote lesson plans for 22 years as an elementary school teacher. She had no aspirations to write a book, however when both parents were diagnosed on the same day with Alzheimer's, her journey as their caregiver poured out on paper through Alzheimer's Daughter. After the sadness of her parents decline, life brought her comfort and healing through the formation of AlzAuthors.com, cofounded with Marianne Sciucco and Vicki Tapia. What started as a one-month collaboration has now taken on a thriving life of its own for a decade.   About Carol Bradley Bursack:   Carol Bradley Bursack was a caregiver for an older neighbor and seven aging family members, all of whom are represented by first-person vignettes in Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories. However, Carol wanted to do more than tell her own stories. She wanted to give other caregivers a chance to do the same.   About Christy Byrne Yates:   Christy is an expert in navigating the challenges and opportunities in life including living in the “Sandwich Generation” — that time period of raising children while also caring for an aging loved one. Her book, “Building a Legacy of Love: Thriving in the Sandwich Generation” recounts her journey and learning as a working mother of two who also managed the care of her parents, both of whom had some form of dementia. She incorporates meditation, mindfulness and other evidence based mind/body practices into her work to support growth, resilience, and a pathway to living life fully.
