POPULARITY
We're not gonna take it anymore! This week, Emily and V delve into righteous -- and rightful -- fannish anger at the constant, demoralizing, dehumanizing deaths of lesbian characters on television, and the straw that broke the fandom camel's back: the death of Lexa on The 100. Fans turned their heartbreak and rage over yet another dead WLW into a truly amazing, awe-inspiring call to action. Do you know how many dead WLW there were on TV in the season surrounding Lexa's murder? Do you want to cry your face off with your co-hosts this week?
Last week's Clexa discussion inspired us to look more generally at the trend of killing LGBTQ people for the sake of story. Val reads a long list of queer women killed for the sake of their story. We eventually give up reading them all because there are so many. Stop killing so many queer characters, dangit! www.inmediales.com Twitter: @inmediales Instagram: @inmediales Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/inmediales Tumblr: thepodinmediales.tumblr.com Music by tatianagladetsk Find out more at http://inmediales.com

Floating Ourselves: An Overly Complex Look at The CW's The 100
Star and Phoebe prepare to get really uncomfortable as in the next three episodes of Season 2 Lexa wants Clexa, Bellamy is extensively tortured in Mount Weather, and Murphy finds love in the desert (still no City of Light, though). Along the way, Star and Phoebe point out how much better it would be if Lincoln was replaced with Indra (in a mentor sense), get absolutely aggravated by the Griffin power showdown nobody wanted nor asked for, and just plain feel bad for all parties involved as the time has finally come to discuss the much alluded to Cheesecake Episode. Yeah. We wish it was The Cheesecake Factory type of cheesecake. Floating Ourselves: An Overly Complex Look at The CW's The 100
Star and Phoebe feel celebratory as they go through a couple of very special episodes where Clarke and the gang try to heal Lincoln of being a cannibal (a great plan there), Finn gets what he fucking deserves, and Clexa begins. Along the way, Star and Phoebe are dumbfounded and impressed by Clarke’s amazing and unintentional power moves, watch in horror as half the cast are slain at the hands of the Character Sniper, and once again question why anyone would give any Griffin any kind of power. YES. IT'S FINALLY HAPPENED. #SorryDefinitelyNotSorry Where You Can Find Us: Phoebe Cakes on Twitter: @edgyforchrist Starlit Taie on Twitter: @StarlitTaie Night of The Girls on Twitter: @StarandPhoebe Email (For The 100 memes and hate mail): starandphoebe@gmail.com Night of the Girls on YouTube: Night of the Girls Tumblr (We have no shame): nightofthegirls.tumlbr.com The Drinking Game: Drinker Beware Respect for Intro/Outro Music: "Leaving Home" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Victoria and Clexa expert Angelica discuss the CW's sci-fi series The 100. The 100 boasts a queer protagonist and positive representation of the LGTBQ+ community. Yet, it also reinforced the Bury Your Gays Trope with the particularly unjust death of a major queer character.

Our podcast explores the lack of fulfilment for viewers who wish to see a classic “happy ending” for their favourite queer ships. Be it due to the classic “Bury Your Gays” plot-line that has struck down hundreds of queer characters in the prime of their fictional life, cancellation of shows that supposedly have no audience interest, or simply poor writing that cannot handle powerful actors who provide depth to characters. This podcast focuses on the untimely death of Lexa from The 1OO. Social Media Platforms: Twitter: www.twitter.com/LezziesTakeOver Tumblr: www.thelesbianzine.tumblr.com
Episode 27 Andi and Lise are super-stoked this week because they managed to score an interview with three ClexaCon directors/organizers (Ashley had to step out to conduct official ClexaCon business during the interview, but we appreciate her dedication to the cause). Joining us is Holly W., Danielle J., and Ashley A., all of whom not only direct and organize this event, but coordinate with other team members to do whatever needs to be done. ClexaCon officially launched in March, 2017 as a response to the myriad deaths of queer women characters in media, particularly the death of the character of Commander Lexa of the CW show The 100 (pronounced “the hundred”). That character died in an egregious example of the “bury your gays” trope, and in the wake of her death, LGBTQ fans and allies rallied in opposition to this trope and sparked a revolution of organizing and community outreach that continues unabated. Named for the iconic ship of Clarke Griffin and Commander Lexa (Clexa), ClexaCon is the first and largest multi-fandom event for LGBTQ women and allies. It brings together thousands of diverse LGBTQ fans and content creators from around the world to celebrate and encourage positive media representation of and for LGBTQ women. The event is scheduled for 5-9 April in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Leigh and Ellie speak with the founders of Clexacon, the largest multi-fandom event for LGBTQ women & allies. Holly Winebarger and Danielle Jablonski along with Ashley Arnold put together this event after the devastating year in queer television in 2016 where a record number of queer women were killed off on network television. We talk Bury Your Gays, Clexa from the 100 and how a positive movement and space where queer women can celebrate and learn from the actresses, show runners and content creators we know and love. If you're going to Clexacon, come see Ellie and Leigh at their Podcast 101 Panel or just say hi! Concentrated Groundercast: Five minute commentary on the CW's The 100.
The episode " Hakeldama" is full of rich religious symbolism. Follow me down that rabbit hole as I talk about the various rolls our characters play in that allegory, from Bellamy as the Judas, to Clarke serving the role of martyr, prophet, and savior. Meanwhile the religious zealot Jaha, with his pill of enlightenment, converts the broken hearted Raven, and Lexa decides that mercy may be more valuable, and ultimately more difficult to achieve, than justice.
