In this episode I explore an easily-overlooked text with surprising political implications. In Romans 8:29-30, Paul claims that we were “predestined to become conformed to the Image of His Son” and that because of this will have been “glorified”. What does Paul mean? In her book Conformed to the Image of His Son, Dr. Haley Goranson Jacob argues that Paul is claiming believers are conformed to Jesus's status and function as the Son of God who rules over creation, and that our glorification denotes a sharing in that rule. She explains how ‘glory' when applied to humans in the Greek Old Testament regularly denotes power, authority, and dominion, that the restoration of human glory is an important subtheme in Romans 5-8, and that the sharing in Christ's inheritance which Paul articulates in Romans 8:12-17 is a participation in his rule. The language of ‘image' in Romans 8:29 is evocative of Genesis 1 and Psalm 8, where humans are, as God's image-bearers, given dominion over His creation, and since Jesus now rules are king over all creation his family, defined by faith and the Spirit, participate in that rule. The political implications are significant; I discuss how the church is God's set-apart family and that we are given the task of and empowered to rule over creation, which we must do in conformity with the crucified Messiah. The church exercises political power, but the political power must be cruciform and congruent with Christ's Messianic reign. I also discuss how passages like this should be brought into the conversation about the Bible and politics. Send us Fan MailI want to talk to you today about something that is constantly happening around us…The gravitational pull toward average. Because whether you realize it or not, there's always pressure trying to pull you into mediocrity.Average thinking.Average effort.Average expectations.Average faith. And if you do nothing intentionally…the drift is inevitable. In this episode, I break down why no one accidentally becomes extraordinary.Nobody unintentionally fulfills purpose. Nobody coasts into calling. The truth is you were never created to blend in.You were created to shine. We look at Matthew 5 and the powerful reminder that we are called to be salt and light in this earth.Salt changes environments. Light changes atmospheres.Neither one conforms to its surroundings they transform them. And that's what you are called to do too.But here's the challenge:The world constantly tries to normalize compromise, passivity, fear, and comfort.“Don't stand out.”“Don't be too bold.”“Lower your standards.”“Just fit in.”But God says the opposite. Shine. In this episode, I talk about:The slow drift toward average and how it happensWhy subtle compromise is more dangerous than dramatic failureThe difference between conformity and transformationHow Caleb carried a “different spirit”Why your environment matters more than you thinkAnd how to actively resist the pull toward mediocrityBecause average is never something people choose intentionally. It's where drift takes them. And if you want to walk fully in your purpose… you have to become intentional.Intentional with your thoughts.Intentional with your standards.Intentional with your faith.Intentional with who you allow to shape your thinking.I believe this with everything in me:The world does not need a watered-down version of you.It needs your light.Your boldness.Your obedience.Your conviction. So today, I want you to ask yourself—Where have I started settling? Where have I started drifting? And what would happen if I chose to fully follow God again with a different spirit?Because you were never created to be average. You were created to influence environments, carry light, and walk in purpose

Today, the guys are discussing the rest of Romans 10. In the text, we clearly see an emphasis on the absolute requirement of means for bringing people to salvation. People must hear the gospel before they believe and call out to God for salvation. We also discuss how Paul applies this truth to the Jewish people and ask why they aren't calling out. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Additionally, our aim is to introduce and explain passages of Scripture and difficult theological doctrines in a down-to-earth and easy-to-grasp manner. Theology and the Bible should impact your life, and our goal is that we might play a small part in seeing that happen. In today's podcast, the guys discuss the word of faith as Paul proclaimed it. In examining this text, we can see how we may present everything a person needs to know to believe in Jesus Christ and obtain salvation. This is not an impossible task that God requires us to complete. Salvation in Christ has drawn near and is accessible by faith. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Additionally, our aim is to introduce and explain passages of Scripture and difficult theological doctrines in a down-to-earth and easy-to-grasp manner. Pastor Nicoletti proceeds in Philippians with a sermon titled “Conformed to His Sacrificial Love” and from Philippians 3:10-11.
Today, the guys are looking at only one verse. But this verse is packed with wonderful Gospel truths. Christ earned a perfect righteousness satisfying all of the law's demands. He died a sacrificial death satisfying the law's penalty. Now his perfect righteousness is offered freely to all who will simply believe and take hold of Christ by faith. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Dr. Roger L. Smith introduces a sermon series on Romans Chapters 12–15, titled "Arise in Transformation." Building on the foundational mercies of God detailed in Romans 1–11, Dr. Smith emphasizes the believer’s responsibility to live in light of grace. He calls for an active, collective commitment to God by presenting oneself as a "living sacrifice," which constitutes reasonable spiritual worship. Central to this life is the "renewal of the mind," a process of rejecting worldly conformity in favor of radical, Spirit-led transformation. By partnering with God and studying His Word, believers shift from the false reasoning of the current age to divine truth. Ultimately, this internal transformation is essential for discerning God’s perfect will and living an obedient, impactful life that represents His kingdom.

In this episode, we launch the Formed Not Conformed MasterClass series with a deep dive into Genesis 3, unpacking the serpent's deception, humanity's hunger for godlike knowledge, and the modern parallels found in artificial intelligence. Together, we explore why knowledge without trust leads to emptiness, how AI can mirror the ancient temptation to replace God, and why spiritual formation through Scripture, prayer, confession, and dependence on Christ remains the only path to life and freedom.

Hello to you listening in Forres, Scotland! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The Scots word “smooring” is an old practice of subduing a fire with ash or peat to keep the embers warm overnight until they're rekindled in the morning. Maybe like me something or someone smoored your self-expression. Perhaps you were told that you were a handful, a free spirit, loudly curious, or just plain too much. After a time you conformed to what they wanted. You smoored your self-expression. You stopped freely sharing your feelings, ideas, curiosity, and thoughts. As your self-expression was subdued, you became less visible. And yet, like a smoored fire the embers of your self-expression are still there waiting to be rekindled into flame so that you regain your visibility. 4 Practical Tips: I have four tried and true tips for you: 1. Nurture self-awareness so that you become visible to yourself. 2. Awaken natural talents to reignite the fire of your self-expression. 3. Seek out the people and places where you belong, where you and your self-expression are welcome 4. Practice saying what you mean and meaning what you say as the courageous act of a warrior. The question is no longer: Who will let me?; the question is: “Who do they think they are to try and stop me? Thank you for listening! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! *Listen to the Show notes and podcast transcript with this multi-language player. Summary This conversation explores the progression of God's purpose for believers—from being predestined in Christ to ultimately being glorified and walking in the fullness of God. The speakers emphasize that the Kingdom of God requires a spiritual determination, a “violence of spirit,” that refuses to remain on a lower level of life and presses into the presence and purposes of God. Romans 8 is presented as a key passage revealing that God's work of salvation—from foreknowledge to glorification—is spoken of in past tense. Believers are called to be conformed to the image of Christ in spirit, soul, and body, not merely experiencing inward redemption but moving toward a full expression of Christ's life. The conversation highlights that this fulfillment is not meant to occur through isolated spiritual individuals but through a corporate Body of believers functioning together in love and unity. As the Body of Christ grows into maturity, faith becomes collective—where one member's strength supports another. Through this unity, the life of Christ can be manifested more fully. Ultimately, the speakers point to a time when the glory of God will be revealed through His people. As believers step into their identity as sons of God and walk in the fullness of Christ's life, creation itself will experience freedom through the revealing of God's children. Show Notes Pressing Into the Kingdom The Kingdom of God advances through spiritual determination and pursuit.Believers must shake themselves free from spiritual ruts and press into the presence of the Lord. The call is to rise to the level where Christ is and dwell in the Father's presence. Conformed to the Image of Christ Romans 8 reveals that believers are predestined to become like Christ. This transformation involves the whole person—spirit, soul, and body. The life of Christ is meant to be manifested through believers. A Corporate Fulfillment God's ultimate purpose is not fulfilled through one spiritual hero. The fulfillment of Scripture requires a family of believers walking together in love. The Body of Christ functions collectively, with shared faith and mutual support. The Atmosphere God Has Been Waiting For Love, humility, and service toward one another create the environment where God's purposes can unfold.Laying aside self allows the Body to move together into the fulfillment of God's promises. The Hope of His Coming The coming of Christ is not only future but is also being completed within His people.Persistent faith and prayer bring the manifestation of what God has spoken. Refusing a Lesser Level Believers are called to refuse living on a lower spiritual plane. The “violence of spirit” is a determination to walk in the level God intends. The Glory Revealed Through the Sons of God Romans 8 reveals that creation itself awaits the revealing of the sons of God.As believers step into their identity and glorification, creation experiences freedom. Key Quotes Mike: “Sometimes we just gotta shake ourselves loose in the spirit and go after things in the Lord.” Trisha: “We are predestined from Romans eight to be conformed to the image of Christ… spirit, soul, and body.” Roger: “It cannot be fulfilled except in a family of people who really have given their lives one to another, to love each other.” Ken: “We refuse to live on a lesser plane, a lesser level, but insist on being where God is bringing forth His people.” Roger: “Where we're lacking, one is lacking faith that's made up for by somebody else's faith that we can go on into the fullness of God.” Mike: “If we've been glorified, then creation is set free to come into the glory of the sons of God.” Scriptural References Matthew 11 (12)“The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”John 14 (2–3)“In My Father's house are many dwelling places… that where I am, there you may be also.”Romans 8 (28–30)Predestined, called, justified, and glorified.Romans 8 (19–21)Creation waits for the revealing of the sons of God.Malachi 4 (2)“You will go out leaping like calves released from the stall.”John 9 (1–3)The blind man healed so that the works of God might be displayed.Luke 18 (1–8)The persistent widow before the unjust judge.1 Thessalonians 5 (23)“May your spirit and soul and body be kept blameless.” Takeaway God's purpose for His people moves from predestination to glorification, forming a corporate Body that reflects the life of Christ. This fulfillment does not come through isolated individuals but through a unified people walking in love, faith, and determination. As believers press into the fullness of God and become conformed to Christ in spirit, soul, and body, the glory of God is revealed through them—and creation itself begins to experience freedom.
What is shaping you? In this message, Pastor Gary encourages listeners to let the Word of God shape them. When we designate time every day for reading and thinking on scripture, it changes us. It tells us what is normal, gives us peace and correction, and it helps us to distinguish between the swarming messages of the world and the words of life that come from God. Today, the guys are back after a snow-induced providential break. Before explaining why God's word has not failed, Paul lays his heart open to the Romans. He has great sorrow and unceasing anguish for his kinsmen according to the flesh. Listen in as the guys discuss how vs. 1-5 can inspire us to cultivate a heart that cares for those yet to trust in Christ. Conformed to Christ is a ministry of Christ's Fellowship Church. https://cfclawton.org/ ***Be sure to subscribe on YouTube, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, and Amazon Music YouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UCgQBeT-Mj1CmngPdhZyWybQ iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/conformed-to-christ/id1503247486 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkLnBvZGJlYW4uY29tL2NvbmZvcm1lZHRvY2hyaXN0L2ZlZWQueG1s
What if the spiritual life we're living is perfectly designed to produce the results we're getting? This powerful message confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: we are all being formed into something, whether we realize it or not. Just as our physical systems adapt to our environment, our spiritual lives are shaped by a constellation of choices—the media we consume, the relationships we nurture, the practices we maintain. The central question isn't whether we're being formed, but what we're being formed into. Are we being conformed to the patterns of this world, or transformed into the image of Christ? Drawing from Romans 12:2 and the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, we discover that spiritual formation isn't about earning salvation—it's about establishing guardrails in our lives so that when pressure comes, when we're pulled in multiple directions, we can hear God's voice above the noise. The Mario Kart analogy brilliantly illustrates this: without spiritual practices, we're constantly falling off the edge and being rescued, but with intentional formation, we build guardrails that keep us on track even when we take wide turns. We were created in God's image, deformed by a broken world, but through Christ, we can be reformed. The challenge before us is clear: will we establish rhythms of prayer, Scripture, community, and service that connect us to God, or will we sleep through the critical moments like the disciples did?

What are the spiritual blessings that we've been given in Christ? What does it mean to be "conformed" to the image of Christ in Romans 8? Do we need to agree with everything that Israel ever does out of fear of being cursed (Genesis 12)? What does it mean to be unequally yoked? Doesn't Genesis 9 teach that we will be punished for taking a life? How does that reconcile with our forgiveness in Christ? *previously aired
Message from Elder Ronnie Loudermilk on January 18, 2026
Covering the introduction and Facet 1
HITTING YOUR SPIRITUAL RESET BUTTON: NEW CHALLENGE, NEW PLAN FOR NEW YEAR JANUARY 4 & JANUARY 11, 2026 Philippians 3:2-14 – “It's all about more Intimacy with Jesus” è Philippians 3:2, 3 – True Relationships vs. zealous error of self-generated religious performance. è Philippians 3:4-6 – Paul's “religious credentials”, “Pedigree” è Philippians 3:7-9 – The righteous view of self-promotion, self-absorbed, outward achievement vs Romans 5:17 – The Gift! è Philippians 3:10 – What am I “running after”; pursuing, reaching for? • Knowing Him (personal intimacy) • Power of resurrection life; victory over everything death deals • Fellowship of His sufferings • There is an intimacy with Jesus that comes through shared suffering! (i.e. fighting vs. sin, rejection, abandonment, betrayal, watching loved ones suffer; waiting on God to reveal) (i.e. having to wait on God to reveal to our loved ones what we already know would help, heal, restore, encourage, etc. [see Matthew 23:37; John 16:12]) • Can't have resurrection without crucifixion! • Conformed to His death: Connected, by faith, to the forgiveness, Grace, breaking of sin's power over us. (Romans 6:6, 7) • Conformed to His death: By Faith we connect with His death which paid for and broke the power of everything that sin and satan broke, stole, destroyed! • Through His death the debt of sin was paid and the legal power of sin (mine, yours) was broken! • The benefits of His death were released to His sons and daughters (His heirs) by His resurrection and administered through His Holy Spirit! (John 16:13-15) è Philippians 3:12-14 – What am I Pressing For, Reaching/Running After? • We must NOT BECOME SATISFIED with “MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO”. WE MUST PRESS ON, REACH …. For a more intimate walk with Jesus! • Forgive me, Lord, for staying content in my Relationship with You! • PRESS: All out desires and corresponding actions (seek FIRST – Matthew 6:33) • FORGETTING: Paul's successes, failures; Ours? Glance, not a gaze! (Acts 8, 9 vs. 2 Corinthians 11, 12) God has chosen NOT to HOLD your sin in His remembrance (Hebrews 10:17) • REACHING: Growing; aspiring for more • Philippians 3:14 – The “Upward” call”: The promotion, favor, reward of humbling ourselves and walking in obedient Grace. • John 8:31, 32; Romans 8:29 • 2 Corinthians 3:18

Romans 8:28-30 — Why does Christianity claim to be the only way of salvation? As Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones preaches this sermon from Romans 8:28-30 titled “Confirmed to Christ,” the gospel is a message of exclusivity that tells of salvation through Christ by His life, death, and resurrection. The teaching that all those who do not believe in the gospel in this life will be judged and condemned in the next is found throughout the Bible. Nevertheless, many fight and resist this teaching on the basis that it is narrow and unloving of God to condemn sinners to an eternity in hell. But, as Dr. Lloyd-Jones reminds the listener, all are in sin and under the condemnation and judgment of God on account of their unrighteousness and rebellion against Him. All have fallen in Adam who was the head of the whole human race. As the head of the new humanity, Christ died and conquered the grave so that all creation would be redeemed and made new. What was lost in Adam will be regained in Christ and more. It is only in Christ that people can become partakers of His blessings and become children of God. There is no salvation outside of Christ. This ought to compel all believers to proclaim the gospel to all who are lost and live in darkness. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/603/29?v=20251111
Conformed to His ImageNovember 23, 2025 • RD McClenagan • Philippians 1:6, Romans 8:28–30This Sunday, R.D. wrapped up our fall series, More Like Him. We are all shaped by what we behold, but God's vision is that we would be conformed to the image of Christ as we fix our eyes on Him. Through the gospel, we are made new and invited into a life where the Spirit grows us in Christlikeness in the ordinary places of our week. God meets us in our fears and patterns, freeing us from the need for approval or control and helping us live from His love and His strength. And the good news is this: the God who began the work in us is the One who will complete it.MORE LIKE HIM RESOURCES: https://fellowshipknox.org/moreWEBSITE: https://fellowshipknox.org/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/fellowshipknox/
