Music Entrepreneur Club founder Dame Ritter came back on the pod to help me break down four music industry myths: artists need to own everything. Ownership! I can’t make money on streaming NFTs will save me I’ll make all my money on tour All of these takes need nuance, and there’s no better person to talk to than Dame. He ran Funk Volume, a former independent record label that hit $4M in sales in its first four years. Dame Ritter Explains Why Hopsin Acts Like A P**** | 2014 | Funk Volume https://www.BeastHostBeard.com In 2014 while I was in attendance at the Team Backpack Mission Underground Event in Los Angeles, I attended a Q&A session with participants including then FUNK VOLUME CEO Damien "Dame" Ritter. The same Dame that a few years later would become a victim in one of Hop's dumb ass Social media sessions, causing the break up of a company Ritter worked hard to build. I asked him How as the CEO of a label he handled the PR issues and backlash that occurs when the figure head of his label was on social media acting like a "p****". Instead of arguing whether he was a p**** or not(He is by the way), Dame explained that Hopsin was over emotional and had no friends, and as a result didnt know any better than to turn to the internet, but that in todays hip hop, the short attention spans of fans made the damage negligible. This was well after my now infamous fist fight with Hopsin, but that's another memory. JUST IN CASE YOU THOUGHT I WAS NEW TO THIS.
