Many articles, films, and interviews have been made about Illmind's extraordinary career producing many albums for several of the top names in Hip-Hop today. This isn't one of those interviews. In this week's episode, John digs deep into the early experiences and upbringing that shaped Ramon Ibanga Jr - AKA !llmind - as a musician and planted the seeds of what has become a life's quest towards community building. After years of social innovation within the Producer Community, we catch up with this 2x GRAMMY Award winning artist just days before he speaks at Gary Vaynerchuck's VeeCon and just a couple months after the launch of his landmark NFT project: Squad of Knights. The "#illMind of #Hopsin 7 by Hopsin is where we will begin this second part of a series on "#Privilege, #Power, Position, Status and Secrets to Unlocking #DivineIntervention." "Ill Mind Of Hopsin 7" by Hopsin Intro/Outro: It's us, find power It's us, find power Live life, mind power It's us, find power Live life, mind power Yo, f*k anybody I might alarm Life is a tour, I sit and ride along Taking some notes and then I write the song I'm staring down the road my life has gone Is this where I belong? Is it wrong to not believe in right & wrong? My mental state is f*ing me up And I cry the pond while asking you for some answers But we don't have that type of bond That my desires gone with the way that I've been living lately If I died right now, you'd turn the fire on Sick of this bulls*t, niggas call me a sellout Cause I hopped on Christianity so strongly then I fell out Now I'm avoiding questions like a scared dog with his tail down Feeling so damn humiliated because they looking at me like I'm hellbound What story should I tell now? I'll just expose the truth I'm so close to the f*ing edge, I should be close to you But who the fuck are You? You never showed the proof And I'm only f*ing human yo, what am I supposed to do? There's way too many different religions with vivid descriptions...." Hopsin rap suggests that he's at a place where he is experiencing critical thinking at work. You see, that's what happen when you begin to expose oneself and think critically, it clashes with beliefs that you had once held because those beliefs came to you as a top-down approach with no ability to question them for yourselves which locks your brain in a particular reality. Until you are able to break free from that. When you are able to, it challenges you to a point of distress and frustration. But that is good, because it means now you are open to tremendous possibilities and the understanding of all things beyond any particular perspectives that were borrowed at best and had monopolized the mind so as to make it complicit and a willing participant in external abuse. That is what we must guard against which is why we should develop the individual so that he can think for him or herself without the possibility of being hijacked. As we think about Privilege, Power, Position within the development of human society overtime and the challenges they pose for progress, critical thinking and communication become absolutely necessary because knowledge or the ability to think critically, while having access to information that is decentralized and de-monopolized are key to augmenting the individual so as to avert external manipulation and discrimination. The lecture that I did on Critical thinking at The Jamaica Theological Seminary for the course “Caribbean Thought” sometime ago, is worth sharing as we explore the issue of privilege and power, position and status and this drive to want to regulate information and to create laws about teaching critical history... Certainly, as we think about how to protect against disinformation and manipulative power, while we realize effective communication which is “to make popular what was the monopoly,” critical thinking becomes paramount. When others seek to create laws & policies or regulatory methods, which would suggest that people can't think for themselves, we are about facilitating learning geared towards augmenting thinking that do the critical thinking that is needed to filter news, narratives & perspectives. More laws and regulations do not necessarily change anything, they more than anything centralize ownership and limit access. Which then create or expand an underground market, that people can still access. Recently, Former President Obama said, “The way I'm going to evaluate any proposal touching on social media & the internet is whether it strengthens or weakens the prospects for healthy, inclusive democracy.” But, what does this mean? In my opinion, being a really good entrepreneur and business owner fundamentally comes down to being really good at solving problems...Basically seeing holes other people don't see and knowing how to efficiently fill them.As music producers, we're constantly being bombarded with other people's problems and it's up to us to figure out how to solve them for those people. One very basic example of this in our everyday lives comes down to making beats: rappers and singers need instrumentals to write over and that's where our job comes in.But we shouldn't stop there, especially because there are TONS of ways to provide value at a deeper level for the people we work with...One way Grammy-Winning super producer, !llmind, is doing that is by building a community of creatives with NFT's and web3 technology.I recently talked to him on my podcast, where he told me he's launching this project called Squad of Knights...If you follow him on socials, you might've seen him talking about it already, but his idea for this community is pretty next-level if you ask me❗He's built out NFT's specifically for creators to inspire a community of collaboration and partnered with a bunch of recording studios to help creatives come together.People who hold his NFT can get studio time at no cost and can network with the people inside his community..."Need artwork for your next beat tape...❓There are graphic designers inside his private community that can help you with that""Need studio time❓ Go record everything you need at one of !llmind's partnered studios..."The logistics of all of this might sound confusing, especially if you're new to all of this NFT, web3, and metaverse stuff......but after seeing what influencers like Gary Vee and Omari MC have done with all this new technology, I had to chat with !llmind to see how music producers in my community can level up with all of this❗So... we broke it down for you on the newest episode of MidiMoney Podcast. Also I know I might be a little annoying with all this web3 stuff lately...
Illmind Drop Too Many Gems. Those Courses you paid for... Nah, this all you need. Illmind goes over how he made over 7 figures over the last year. He talks about producer mindset and mistakes producers make that can hold them back from selling beats. He also talked about Russ, beat tags, selling kits, twitch, work ethic, etc.
On this Episode of "This, That and The Third", Ammbaataa talks with the Homie and his first podcast guest ever in life, Seattle's own Jake One. Since the 1998 Conception Records “Walkman Rotation” Jake One has been on a slow and steady trajectory. A full fledge member of the G-Unit era sorority of producers: Hi-Tek, Needlz, Illmind, Focus, Buckwild, Red Spyda, DJ Khalil, Mr. Porter and last but definitely not least Nottz. Multiple Grammy nods, classic cuts like the De La Soul MF Doom assisted “Rock Co. Kane Flow”, to the Dynamic Duo comprised of himself and Mayer Hawthorne (Tuxedo), to his single from J. Cole's latest full length release The Off Season "My Life" (with 21 Savage and Morray). I was introduced to Jake One's music via the Bay Area music Don Dada Ian Davis (Little Brother/Heiroglyphics). Ian Davis would give me Jake One beat CD’s that eventually became my families Sunday morning traveling music. I wanted to talk specifically about J.Coles “My Life”, but a run down of some of Snare Jordan’s greatest hits became the mission. Tune in. TTT3 J. Cole 2013 • 06. "3 Wishes" J. At face value, they might not seem like they're worth much to most businesses (and to be honest I didn't see much value in them at first either)......but after Omari started explaining them to me, it's no surprise why some music producers like himself and Illmind have already started to leverage them. They're sort of like a stock that you would trade on a stock exchange, but for influencers and creators. So let's say I created a Creator Coin for my music production business, Legion Beats; if you wanted to support Legion Beats, you would put capital towards the Legion Beats Creator Coin. The value of the coin goes up and down, kinda like stocks fluctuate in the stock market, but with Creator Coins there's an added incentive for investing. That's because you can incentivize people who support your Coin, and one way you can do that is by rewarding people and giving them access to special content and deals only they have access to.Isn't that pretty sweet?I'd say so - I can't think of many other currencies that have this much power to build brand loyalty.DISCLAMIER: It's still a very new concept, though! That's why I highly suggest you start learning about it ASAP so you're ahead of the competition when more people start adopting it.Start taking your first steps by watching my discussion with Omari in the newest episode of the MM Podcast. On the newest episode of the Midi Money Podcast RIZR confessed to me that he'd only been DJing for two weeks when he was asked to open as a DJ for Illmind...This sounded like a great opportunity to get recognition in the music industry, but he'd never spun a record before, and he only considered himself to be a producer at the time. However, since he realized that this one opportunity could open up more doors for him in the future, RIZR decided to grab a turntable and start practicing. He ended up performing at that show, which led to even more gigs with Illmind and opened up other shows for him, including one with Just Blaze who was a longtime idol of his. From there, RIZR has been able to land a Netflix placement and has been apart of projects that charted on iTunes, which he talks about on this episode.Remember, big futures often disguise themselves as just small opportunities in the present, so it's important to be aware of every door that's opened in front of you, because you never know what they'll lead to.
Can producers sign major deals for making beats? Yes, absolutely. But many big producers signed bad publishing deals. S1 recently tweeted about a bad publishing deal and in this episode, we discuss why the deal was unfavorable. Also, Dame is not accepting demos, but he does want rappers to check their inboxes more.
In this episode, I welcome artist extraordinaire, Andre Oshea to the show to talk about the business & marketing secrets of success in the non-fungible token art space, especially given his recent five figure sale of a collab with Grammy award winning music producer, Illmind, on a series of four pieces (two animated, two still), collectively titled G.R.O.W., an acronym for give, respect, own and WIN). Andre's body of work is futuristic, ethereal, multidimensional, and thought-provoking. He is a 3D generalist and animator who hails from Georgia. And he's worked on several compelling projects with a wide range of clients including Adult Swim, Snapchat, Tidal, and John Legend and in this episode he talks about another amazing project he has been commissioned to participate in with Netflix. He is a bright light in the art world and beyond and I know you will enjoy this conversation as much as I enjoyed having it. Welcome to the Decibel Boost Podcast album roundup for the month of March 2021. The first quarter of the year is now over,
What’s up Hardcore Humans! Today on The Hardcore Humanism Podcast we talk with Hip Hop artist Hopsin. As an artist he has written, performed, and produced many singles, mixtapes and albums, including the “Ill Mind of Hopsin” song and video series. Hopsin is also the founder of the record label and merch line Undercover Prodigy. During this conversation, we talk with Hopsin about how he charted his own path to becoming an independent artist and entrepreneur. And specifically, we talk with Hopsin about how he needed to be an independent thinker in order to find his unique path to pursuing his professional goals. Unfortunately, sometimes having an independent mind isn’t necessarily easy or comfortable. Often, people who are independent and divergent thinkers – whether they are innovative in art, science or business – are discouraged from their path because it clashes with familial expectation or norms in a society. Unfortunately, many of us succumb to this pressure and do in fact become discouraged from pursuing our purpose in life.During our conversation, Hopsin focuses on how he was able to chart his own path by being artistically creative and innovative in his business model. In order to do so, Hopsin had to do something which is often very difficult – keep focused on his sense of purpose – which was to make great music and reach his fans, rather than on only achieving an intermediate step such as being signed to a major label. And as Hopsin was developing his music and stage performance, he was also examining which business models worked best to connect with his fans. Ultimately, Hopsin decided to create his own independent label – Undercover Prodigy – to serve as the vehicle for sharing his music and developing his other entrepreneurial ventures. Further, Hopsin explained how he was able to build a business culture around him that supported rather than hindered his professional goals. Whatever our career and personal paths may be, musician or not, we can learn lessons from Hopsin’s experiences that we can apply to charting our own unique life course.*****Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/GBmf0iU/HardcoreHumanismSignUpInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hardcorehumanism/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HardcoreHumanism/Twitter: https://twitter.com/hardcorhumanismLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/hardcore-humanism

Hopsin's beef with Dame Ritter lead to targeted harassment, especially following Illmind of Hopsin 8's release. Somehow, even this podcast became a target. Now and Hopsin and Dame sat down to explain the Funk Volume split, it's time to speak on the facts and get a little petty.
Sadhguru looks at how an ill mind can create a poisonous chemical soup within the body. He explains how modern society sees disease as a normal fact of life, which is a serious mistake. THISENT.com presents the 30TH Episode of THIS Podcast hosted by Mr. Joe Walker! It's amazing how quickly time passes. Here in this episode we're going to do a little time traveling, taking a trip back to 2010 for an interview I conducted with hip-hop artists Skyzoo and Illmind that was previously unreleased. I've been gradually building up to this moment starting with Skyzoo's feature in our “GOOD QUESTION” column, then in our kindness column “Shining Example”, and finally an interview in Episode 14 of THIS Podcast. During our conversation it's mentioned that he and I hadn't spoken in 10 years, the last time being when I talked with him and producer Illmind about their Live from the Tape Deck album. We're paying off that buildup by giving you that unreleased interview in its entirety! In it we discuss Ice Cube's 20-year solo career, generational conflict in urban music, and being the narrator of your life. Have fun time traveling with us and thank you for continuing to support THISENT.com and THIS Podcast! Enjoy!
