Humans make them and use them. They can be safe, clunky contraptions or svelte streamline bodies, but they are designed to make our lives better. And in the process we imbue them with our emotions and sometimes are neurosis. TO SERVE MAN looks at how robots are depicted in movies.Weighing in with commentary and humor are Alexis den Boggende, Boston Hassle film critic and David Giancola, film director. You see their faces in movies and on TV. You hear their voices in animation, but you never quite know who they are. Listen in as film directors Hope Madden and David Giancola join MC Garen Daly as they try and define what a character actor is in the 21st century. As humans, sinister robots have been around since the days of Edison. We see them in the malfunctioning Yul Brenner of WESTWORLD, or the single-minded killing machine of THE TERMINATOR, or Alicia Vikander's AI powered humanoid in EX MACHINA or the nascent super intelligence of Ultron . They threaten us. Host Garen Daly dives into this world of emotionless adversaries with film critic Erin Underwood and film director David Giancola. Existential threats, ethical mine fields, and the emergent AI. are all at the intersection of technology and cinema. They are the unwavering bad boys of cinema, BAD BOTS.Please note BAD BOTS is recorded live with inserted film clips. David Giancola is an independent film director who got his start with the movie Time Chasers, a flick that found its first home in the niche VHS bin and then its second in Season 8 of MST3K. He operates out of Edgewood Studios and continues to put out exciting projects to this day. In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, David and I talk about the life of Time Chasers both before and after MST3K, the different eras of indie film, and how old-fashioned movie fans can find what they're looking for in this day and age. — See Show Notes at www.AaronBossig.com Follow me on Twitter - @AaronBossig Podcast logo and graphics by Marcie London www.MarcieLondon.com - @MarcieLondonArt

Special Guest David Giancola, the writer and director of Time Chasers, Illegal Aliens, and his newest movie Axcellerator joins them for a discussion on making Time Chasers, the process of getting the movie on Mystery Science Theater 3000, and dishes out some unknown secrets about top tier celebrities! It's scandalous!
Director David Giancola recalls the production of his film Illegal Aliens, which, unknowingly, became actress/model Anna Nicole Smith’s final film.
Today we have a very special guest joining us: David Giancola! The MFF podcast is back and we're talking about snowmobile action scenes and the 2000 B-movie classic Icebreaker. If you are into movies featuring legendary mountain burgers, angry bosses and a bald Bruce Campbell chewing scenery you will love every second of this podcast. What we love most about Icebreaker is how director David Giancola gathered seemingly everyone in Vermont to cameo in this movie while actors Sean Astin, Stacy Keach and Bruce Campbell channeled every ounce of their professionalism to endure the experience of being in a true B-movie. In this podcast, you will hear us talk about snowmobiles, frightening fight scenes and Alexander Payne directing movies based on Avril Lavigne songs.
Episode 11 – David Giancola. Special two hour RiffTrax/Time Chasers Omnibus Special. In honor of the May 5 Rifftrax show, we interview Director David Giancola, who’s first movie “Time Chasers” is being riffed in a live Fathom Event tonight by Rifftrax. Greg, Ryan and Blake discuss Joel Hodgson’s “new” secret/un-secret “Mystery Bot;” the Mystery Science Theater cast reunion in Minneapolis, and “RenFest,” a comedy series starring Mary Jo Pehl, Trace Belieau and Dave “Gruber” Allen. In the “Feedback Loop” segment, the Podcast Gang lets fans say what Mystery Science Theater means to them. Lots of geeky discussion of “Captain America: Civil War” and Cap Himself, Chris Evans. In “Cheesy Movies We’d Like to See Riffed,” Howard the Duck rears his ugly beak. Greg and Ryan fiend over Cock & Bull Ginger Beer in the “Mini Soda Review,” but Blake is not so sure. And in “Reviewers in the MSTie,” James contemplates Donald Pleasence’s melted face by reviewing “Warrior of the Lost World.” (This podcast does not represent Alternaversal, Shout Factory or the Kickstarter campaign in any official capacity). EDITOR’S NOTE: In June 2019, this podcast merged with the Damn Dirty Geeks Podcast and became The Damn Dirty Drive-in. These are our classic back catalog episodes, dating back to March 2016. Please enjoy! The new Drive-In podcast opens for business with original sketches, movie discussions, interviews, weird food tastings and more at Episode 168.
