Host Michael Azevedo is joined on this episode by Ben Loeterman, the writer and director of Bombshell, a new documentary that Explores How The U.S. government manipulated the narrative around the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Ben's film will premiere on PBS as part of the American Experience series on January 6 and will be available on the PBS app and the American Experience website thereafter. Through propaganda, censorship and the co-opting of the press, the government presented a benevolent picture of atomic power, minimizing the horrific human toll of the bombings. The U.S. media became pivotal in promoting — and then piercing — the official narrative. While President Truman publicly declared that “it has never been the habit of the scientists of this country or this government to withhold from the world scientific knowledge,” that is precisely what General Groves, leader of the Manhattan Project, insisted upon. Bombshell sheds light on the efforts of courageous journalists to inform the world about the human costs of nuclear weapons, despite government censorship. Tonight on Hidden Killers, Tony Brueski reads — in full — the November 3, 2025 letter sent by Congressman Jamie Raskin to Attorney General Pam Bondi, demanding answers about what he calls a “gigantic cover-up” surrounding the shutdown of the Epstein co-conspirator investigation. The claims laid out in this letter are extraordinary, and they raise questions that cut to the heart of how justice works in America. According to Raskin's letter, until early 2025 the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York was still pursuing leads involving Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's alleged co-conspirators. Nearly fifty survivors had reportedly provided testimony naming individuals connected to the trafficking network. Raskin alleges the investigation was active, growing, and producing evidence — until it was suddenly transferred from SDNY to DOJ headquarters in Washington, D.C. Six months later, the case was closed. In his letter, Raskin asks the DOJ to explain: • Why a federal trafficking probe was halted mid-investigation • Why banks reportedly flagged over $1.5 billion in Epstein-linked transactions without follow-up • Why survivors whose testimony helped convict Ghislaine Maxwell were later assessed as “not credible” • And whether the closure protected certain individuals from scrutiny Tony Brueski reads the entire letter unedited and uninterrupted, allowing listeners to hear Raskin's concerns exactly as written. This episode does not claim the allegations are proven — it presents the congressional questions now publicly on the record. If these claims are accurate, the implications are enormous. If they're not, why were they raised at all? Tonight, you hear the letter — and decide for yourself. #JamieRaskin #EpsteinInvestigation #JeffreyEpstein #GhislaineMaxwell #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #DOJ #FBI #TrueCrimePodcast #JusticeForSurvivors Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Scott Peterson case has never been short on controversy, but the newest filings from the Los Angeles Innocence Project may be the most explosive revelations yet. In this Hidden Killers investigation, Tony Brueski breaks down two seismic developments that could shake the foundation of one of America's most famous murder convictions. First: the alleged destruction of key evidence. According to internal Modesto Police logs cited in the LA Innocence Project's 600-page petition, detectives met behind closed doors on May 6, 2003, to discuss discovery decisions. By the next day, two major items were reportedly marked for destruction: • The videotaped interrogations of Medina-burglary suspects Steven Todd and Glenn Pierce • The safe stolen from the Medina home, just yards from the Peterson residence Within weeks, the petition claims, both were gone — no copies, no transcripts, no forensic testing. California law is clear: under Trombetta and Youngblood, intentional destruction of potentially exculpatory evidence can constitute a constitutional violation. If these allegations are accurate, the petition argues, this wasn't a mistake. It was a turning point. Then comes the second bombshell: the recantation of the very expert whose testimony jurors described as “the nail in the coffin.” Dr. Terry D'Vor now states that updated NIH and WHO fetal-growth data contradict his 2004 conclusions, showing baby Connor's measurements were consistent with a January death — when Scott Peterson was already under round-the-clock surveillance. If modern science shifts the timeline, the prosecution's central theory may not survive. This episode unpacks the evidence, the science, and the law — and asks whether the case against Scott Peterson is structurally sound… or structurally broken. #ScottPeterson #LaciPeterson #LAInnocenceProject #HiddenKillers #WrongfulConviction #ForensicScience #EvidenceDestruction #TonyBrueski #TrueCrimeAnalysis #JusticeForLaci Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Alex Murdaugh case is entering one of its most explosive phases yet. South Carolina prosecutors have filed a massive 182-page brief urging the state supreme court to deny Murdaugh's push for a new trial — even as jury-tampering allegations against former court clerk Becky Hill continue to shake public confidence. In this episode of Hidden Killers, Tony Brueski breaks down how the State is framing Hill's alleged misconduct as “foolish and fleeting,” not something that could overturn a double-murder conviction. The prosecution argues that the evidence — the kennel video, the timeline, the lies — was so overwhelming that nothing Hill said could have changed the verdict. But the courtroom battle is only half the story. Tony, Stacy Cole, and Todd Michaels take listeners deep into Murdaugh's original trial performance, analyzing the psychological theater behind his testimony. From his emphatic denial — “I did not shoot my wife and son” — to the unconscious body language that contradicted him, Murdaugh's time on the stand revealed a man waging a desperate internal war. Nodding while denying guilt. Shifting explanations. A sudden admission he lied about being at the kennels. His “snot-cry” apology to Buster. His attempt to reframe decades of manipulation as addiction-driven paranoia. Was this grief? Guilt? Or the collapse of a lifelong pattern of control? We examine how his financial crimes, betrayals, and compulsive deceit shaped juror perception — and why prosecutors now insist that even if Hill crossed a line, Murdaugh crossed many more. With oral arguments expected this fall and a ruling likely in 2026, the South Carolina Supreme Court must now decide: was Hill's comment a harmless slip… or a judicial crack big enough to break the foundation of a historic conviction? #AlexMurdaugh #MurdaughTrial #MurdaughAppeal #JuryTampering #CourtroomDrama #TrueCrimeAnalysis #HiddenKillers #LegalUpdate #ForensicPsychology Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? With oral arguments expected this fall and a ruling likely in 2026, the South Carolina Supreme Court must now decide: was Hill's comment a harmless slip… or a judicial crack big enough to break the foundation of a historic conviction? #AlexMurdaugh #MurdaughTrial #MurdaughAppeal #JuryTampering #CourtroomDrama #TrueCrimeAnalysis #HiddenKillers #LegalUpdate #ForensicPsychology Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? This episode pulls back the curtain on two of the most controversial and emotionally charged elements of the Delphi murders case: the evidence linked to Ron Logan that jurors never heard, and the personal devastation endured by Richard Allen's wife, Kathy Allen, in the aftermath of his conviction. We start with the Logan file — an FBI affidavit outlining a falsified alibi, phone data placing Logan near the crime scene, past incidents of violence, and physical characteristics some believed matched the figure seen on the Monon High Bridge. Investigators executed a full search of Logan's property, yet none of this information reached the jury in Richard Allen's trial. Why was such a significant alternative lead effectively erased from the courtroom narrative? Was it investigative error, strategic omission, or an institutional decision to narrow the lens too early? These questions go to the heart of public confidence in the Delphi investigation. Then we shift to the human cost. Richard Allen's transfer to an out-of-state facility placed him far from Kathy Allen, isolating him from the support system most defendants rely on during the appeals process. Kathy's voice — steady, emotional, and often overlooked — brings forward the deeply personal reality of a case dominated by legal battles and public speculation. Defense attorney Bob Motta explains why she never took the stand and how her testimony might have reshaped the jury's understanding of the man they were judging. This is the intersection of overlooked evidence, investigative blind spots, and the collateral damage left behind when a community demands closure before all questions are answered. #DelphiMurders #RonLogan #RichardAllen #KathyAllen #TrueCrimeNews #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #HiddenKillers #WrongfulConvictionConcerns #DelphiCase #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Original air date: November 14, 2025 President Trump is angrily urging Republicans not to join Democrats in pushing for release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. But all of a sudden, with the discharge petition set to force a House vote, things are rapidly going in the wrong direction for Trump. In a surprise, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene now predicts that the number of Republicans who will vote to release the files will be “a lot higher” than anyone expects. If the GOP defectors hit truly sizable numbers, as suddenly looks likely, it will be a bombshell with terrible implications for Trump, ramping up the pressure across the board in any number of ways. But the process that's about to unfold is complex. So we talked to Democratic Representative Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, a high profile voice throughout this saga. She explains what it's like to talk personally with Epstein's victims, why Republicans are finding it harder to resist pressure, what Democrats will do next to keep the story alive, and why this will keep getting worse for Trump until the truth comes out in the end. Unlock the hidden horrors of Bryan Kohberger's post-conviction world in this explosive double-feature from Hidden Killers 2025 Year in Review – a look back at the biggest cases of the year. Fresh off his July 2025 guilty plea and four life sentences, dive into the frantic 48-hour plea negotiations that blindsided victims' families, with leaked emails exposing prosecutors' "betrayal" by cutting a no-death-penalty deal without full disclosure. Was it mercy or a rush to closure? Then, hear the chilling whispers from Kohberger's Pennsylvania jail guard—revealing his eerie nighttime pacing, inmate disturbances, and psychological unraveling behind bars that echo his pre-murder red flags at WSU. This Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski: True Crime Today retrospective dissects the plea drama: Defense's last-ditch survivor witness strategy scrapped, families' fury over the email snub, and how it dodged a capital trial spectacle. Shift to solitary confinement insights—guard accounts of Kohberger's isolation-induced "madness," sleep-deprived rants, and the mental toll mirroring FBI profiler warnings of his fractured psyche. These revelations amplify the Goncalves family's November 19, 2025, WSU lawsuit, alleging ignored stalking behaviors that could've prevented the #Idaho4 slaughter. Plus, restitution rifts: The $30K victim fund payout and urn cost battles post-November 5 hearing underscore ongoing justice fights. True crime die-hards, this is unmissable: From secret deal fallout to guard's front-row seat on a killer's breakdown, it's raw intel on accountability gaps in academia and prisons. Expert breakdowns tie it all to premeditated Amazon buys, sheath DNA, and why his calm facade cracked under lockup pressure. #BryanKohberger #IdahoMurders #PleaDealExposed #JailGuardSecrets #TrueCrime #KohbergerLifeSentence #Idaho4 #HiddenKillers2025 #CrimeYearInReview #WSULawsuit #TrueCrimePodcast #MurderMystery Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The interrogation practices used in the Richard Allen case have become one of the most troubling — and consequential — aspects of the Delphi murders investigation. In this episode, we break down the reported tactics that raise profound ethical and procedural concerns far beyond Carroll County. From the use of deceptive pretenses to initiate questioning to the unclear delivery and reinforcement of Miranda rights, this interrogation reveals how fragile constitutional protections can become under pressure. When those protections are blurred, a suspect's ability to understand and exercise their rights is severely compromised. We examine how investigators allegedly used false evidence claims, exaggerated forensic certainty, and coercive language during questioning — all while operating under what appears to be a presumption of guilt. Leading questions and narrative-steering hypotheticals amplified that bias, creating an environment designed not to discover truth, but to confirm a theory. These tactics take on even greater significance when considering the weakness of the ballistic evidence at the center of the case. Despite being presented to Allen as definitive, expert analysis reveals substantial uncertainty surrounding the alleged forensic match. Throughout it all, Richard Allen repeatedly maintained his innocence, even as the psychological weight of the interrogation — and the broader investigation — intensified around him. His experience serves as a sobering reminder of how easily confirmation bias can take root, steering investigators toward narrow conclusions while overlooking critical context. This episode explores what happens when interrogation rooms become echo chambers, when pressure replaces clarity, and when the pursuit of justice risks being overshadowed by the pursuit of a confession. These concerns matter not just for the Delphi case, but for every system that relies on fair, evidence-based investigation. #DelphiCase #RichardAllen #TrueCrimeNews #InterrogationAnalysis #BallisticsDebate #JusticeSystem #ConfirmationBias #HiddenKillers #TrueCrimePodcast #DueProcessRights Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
