Many couples who end up getting a divorce tend to part their ways in pain and not in good terms. The Love Counselor Bill Ferguson talks about how he discovered what messes up relationships as he tackles healing right after. Bill is a former divorce attorney whose successful approach to life has been called the “penicillin of psychology.” He generously imparts his wisdom on how we can deal with hurt, looking at it from a different perspective as not part in the realm of truth. Bill lays down some steps that will help identify the core motivations of why we hurt and how to overcome it in order to get that power back within ourselves. Dick Traum has been inspiring many people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events through Achilles International. He was the first runner to complete a marathon with a prosthetic leg when he competed in the 1976 New York City Marathon. Through Achilles International, Dick provides a community that supports people, being a great believer in the power of micro communities. In the 136th episode of Keep Moving Forward I interview the first amputee athlete to run a marathon and founder of Achilles International, Dick Traum. “My role changed from that of child to that of an adult. From athlete to volunteer.” After a tragic accident caused Dick Traum to lose his leg, he decided that he would not be defeated and determined that though one real leg short, he would complete a marathon. As though the mental strength in this feat alone was not enough, Dick didn’t stop there. In fact, his most impressive accomplishments came in the aftermath of the completion of his marathon. Seeing a great need in the community with regards to helping individuals with disabilities discover purpose, Dick founded Achilles International to empower people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement. Starting with 6 disabled persons competing in the 1983 New York City Marathon, Achilles has grown to be a worldwide organization and in 2018, over 1000 individuals with disabilities competed in runs with 250 of those in the New York City Marathon. Dick is a pioneer is so many ways and it was an honor to have the chance to speak with him. I hope you all enjoy my interview with Dick Traum.
