Its the day before race day, and Chris is on the expo floor with 2 ultra marathoning professional athletes: Kyle Curtin and JP Giblin. Kyle an Army Veteran and JP a Navy Veteran currently run for Altra on their elite ultra marathoning team. Kyle and JP are in town to promote Altra as the footwear brand is in its first year of sponsorship of the Marine Corps Marathon. Chris talks to the guys about their weekend in DC and all the running around (literally) they've been doing. They also both talk about their path into Ultra running and the successes they've had over the years. Kyle a top 10 finish at Western States and JP winning the 2023 Leadville 100. First the story of Noah Lyles calling out the NBA for calling their NBA Finals the "World Champs". Then the talk is of the marathon in Mexico City that DQ'ed 11,000 runners for cutting the course. Farley is then joined by Hilary Biggs the Race Director for the DC Half. The DC Half Marathon is September 17th, and has had record sign ups. Hilary talks about her journey from working in Sports in DC 20+ years ago to now where she is putting on one of the largest Half Marathons in the DC area. In her first ever podcast, Hilary nails it!
Julie and Chris are back in studio for another episode of PTN! This week the hosts dive back into some hard hitting personal life discussions (Chris can't wait for the kids to go back to school, Julie does all the planning around the house) - and Chris continues to be amazed how much work there is to do to just get the kids organized for their activities. Typical... They are joined this week by the new head coach of the Atlanta Track Clubs elite team, Tommy Nohilly! Tommy is a New Yorker that is heading down south to run the mid distance track program for the club. Julie and Chris go down memory lane with Nohilly, talking to him about his career as a runner and all the coaching stops he's had along the way - including being a coach for Julie at the NJNY Track club in the 2010's. They finish the show with some optimism that the podcast is, in fact, back!!
PTN is back! Finally. Julie and Chris record from Clarendon for the 1st podcast of 2023. The hosts talk about where they have been, what they've been doing, and why it's taken so long to get back to recording a show. They are joined in studio by Tinoda Matsatsa, a High School star runner. Tinoda was the first African American runner to break 4 minutes in the mile. He also holds the 3rd fastest 800m time ever in the history of High School Running. Julie and Chris talk to Tinoda about his upcoming U20 national meet that is happening in Eugene Oregon. They close the show with the results from that race and a promise to be back in 2 weeks.
This week Farley is on location at the Georgetown Pacers Running store interviewing Author and Running Influencer, Alison Desir! Alison starts the show by reading a chapter from her new book: Running While Black. She tells a story of running from Harlem to Washington DC for the Women's March in 2017. Throughout the conversation we tease stories from her new book. In addition, we talk about the issues in running for minorities. The lack of diversity in running has been overlooked for years. Alison is leading the way in trying to change that. Its a lively discussion that ends with audience questions.
Julie is back! We quickly catch up with the co-host who has been away from the show for a month. After getting reacquainted, we set the stage for our guest running videographer, Johnny Pace. Johnny joins us to talk about his new short film that he did for Pacers Running, Cooper. We discuss how both Julie and Chris got to know Johnny. We talk about the story of Pace Photo, the business he is growing in this running space. Johnny also talks about balancing a full time job while doing content creation all over the country. We discuss how he is a professional with a nomadic life that is possible now in the world we live in. Chris is Mike reminisce about the good old days of the Pacers Racing team in the late 90s and Mike's journey to join the team. We spend the bulk of the interview talking about Mikes Run across America this past summer. A run that was inspired by the Movie Forrest Gump. Mike raised over $100,000 for World Vision! We end the show talking about the DC Half marathon and what an amazing experience it was.

Julie and Chris are back for a big show this week! We start by talking about Julies big week putting on the Brooks PR invitational track meet in Seattle. Brooks PRI is a High School national track meet with some of the best runners in the country. We transition to talk about another one of our favorite brands, Saucony, and their VP of US Sales Joe Toth. Joe joins us on the program while he is out in Spokane Washington for the Fleet Feet conference. We talk to Joe about little known (little known because he doesn't talk about it much) heart complications he's had throughout his life. When Joe was born he had open heart surgery. Doctors didn't give him much of a chance to live a normal life, but he has beaten the odds and has a family of his own, has become a distance runner, and has worked his way to a leadership position with one of the top running brands in the world, Saucony. Joe has had a few other heart complications since birth, and he describes some of them, while keeping an amazing attitude throughout. We also talk to Joe about Saucony being at Fashion Week in Paris to launch one of their new shoes. We close the show talking about Farley's hernia (hopefully for the last time!) and the “Mindset Experience” Podcast that Julie was a guest on.

Chris is solo this week, and although Julie is dearly missed we have a big show! We have 2 High School track super stars: Gary Martin and Juliette Whittaker join the show. We first talk to Gary about his sub 4 min mile in a HS race - the fastest sub 4 in an all High School race ever - 3:57. His time is 5th ever overall for HS. Gary tells us about his record breaking season and we get the details of the day he broke 4 and what we did after the race. We are then joined by Juliette Whittaker, who recently broke 2 minutes in the 800 meters. She is only the 2nd female to break the 2 minute barrier. We also talk to her about her "regular" High School experiences like almost missing her fastest race of her life because of traffic. We touch on her Dad as her coach, her Dad who was a star runner at Georgetown in the 90s. We finish with Juliette asking her if she is going to compete with the seniors and try to make the World Team in Eugene, or compete for a spot on the U20 team that goes to Columbia this Summer. We bring them both together at the end. We address a tweet from FastWomen.com and finish with a test. Spoiler, the both pass with flying colors.
We finalize our Boston marathon talk with Julie and Chris talking about Julies trip to Boston, one more time. CNN Reporter Tom Foreman joins the show to continue some of the Boston conversation. Foreman ran this years race and 6 days later ran the Big Sur Marathon. This is Tom's second time on PTN, we recap some of his first appearance and talk about his Book, "My Year of Running Dangerously". Tom gives advice on running in his 60s and still trying to be a "fast" runner. He also talks to Farley about not running marathons in his 30's and 40's - Julie asks about current events and Foreman touches on how hard it's been to cover the news in the past 2 to 3 years. We finish with a Farley story of missing a flight, but then not missing the flight.
A big show this week! Julie and Chris are joined by the CEO of Brooks Running - Jim Weber! He recently wrote a book, Running With Purpose, a leadership memoir. We talk to Jim about the book and his views on Brooks that has grown into Billion Dollar brand under is leadership. Jim, Chris and Julie connect on the culture that is Brooks (Julie's employer other than Pace the Nation!!). The book can be found wherever books are sold. We end the show with a proud dad moment and try to determine if Julie is as excited about the moment as Chris is. :)

Farley talks to Cooper about him growing up in Alameda, CA and how he became the runner he is today. We Off The Couch is a community based running club in Richmond, VA that help people live their best lives. Anthony Clary had a health scare that changed his life. He and his wife Tara started a running club for his hometown of Richmond VA. Julie and Chris talk to the couple about their club and the meaning it has to them and the 80+ runners they attract on a weekly basis. It's an inspiring story. Laura Thweatt professional marathon runner for Saucony is on Pace The Nation this week. She talks about her running - her 5th place finish at the Olympic Marathon trials in 2021 (a conversation she has with Des Linden who Julie was texting during the interview)and her 8th place finish at this past years NY City Marathon. Laura trains and lives in Louisville, Colorado. The Marshall Fires deviated her town. Six families from the Track team at Monarch high school, where Laura coaches, lost their homes. Laura mobilized a Go Fund Me and raised over $30,000 for those families. We talk about that and her perspective on life after the horrible fires.
