Discussing these various scenarios provides a great opportunity to drill down into elk behavior and give the ElkNut an opportunity to provide some key insights for elk hunters looking to fine tune the elk sounds they employ.
On this installment of the ElkNut Listener Series, Tayler interviews Jeff Moran, founder of Built 4 the Hunt, at the Hunt Expo in Salt Lake City. We did our best to find a relatively quiet location, but there will be some background noise and the occasional interruption from customers asking us how to shoot AccuBow's cool bow/app setup (hat tip to those guys for letting us record the episode at their booth). On the episode, Jeff breaks down his quest for a trophy bull elk on public land with his bow and how it all came to fruition in 2019. He shares some great pointers and also provides some additional information about his startup company, Built 4 the Hunt, which provides supplements, workout plans, and so much more to the outdoor community.
Dan Solsman joins the ElkNut, Paul Medel, and Tayler Tibbitts from Got Game Tech, to discuss his 2019 archery elk hunt, along with his impressive track record of killing six elk in six years. Dan is a well known elk hunter in his own right, and has employed some important methods to shorten the elk hunting learning curve. The ElkNut also provides some key, high level insights to complement what Dan already puts in practice in the elk woods. You're not going to want to miss this episode! If you'd like to keep in touch with Dan, you can follow him on Instagram at @dansolsman.
Travis Lambert joins the ElkNut, Paul Medel, and Tayler Tibbittts from Got Game Tech, to discuss his 2019 early season archery elk hunt. Come along for the ride as Travis breaks down each of his elk encounters from his early season elk hunt in Wyoming. Brett discusses his incredible 2019 archery elk season he experienced with his 17-year old son. The two of them had a number of elk encounters, and most are broken down on this podcast. The ElkNut provides his proven insight, and Brett shares some important lessons that he's learned, including a theme that pervades this podcast episode: confidence in your calling is key. This new series is designed to be a case study in archery elk hunting--learn from the experiences of others to shorten your learning curve. We hope you find it helpful and informative. Be sure to listen, subscribe, give us a review, and share!

The ElkNut, Paul Medel, joins Ryan from Got Game Tech to take a deep dive into a couple nuanced bull elk sounds. The first is "panting," understanding when and why a bull pants, and how you can use it to your advantage elk hunting. The second is the nervous grunt. Paul shares how this sound has helped him and his son Paul put numerous elk on the ground. Enjoy!
On this episode of the ElkNut Series, Paul answers the question of whether cow elk bugle and if they do, what this sound means. He also dives in on a discussion about solo hunting tactics versus hunting with a group. Don't miss it!
On this episode of the ElkNut Series, the ElkNut answers his question from the last episode: do cows use a special sound to signify they're in estrus? The conversation then heads in a number of interesting directions at that point--all of which are focused on calling in and harvesting more elk!
The second episode of the series first covers Paul answering the question he left listeners at the end of the last podcast: Would a bull elk ever make a challenge bugle directed at a cow elk? Listen to find out! We also jump into hunting elk in open areas (specifically with respect to Paul and Paul Jr.'s hunt in Wyoming in 2017) and understanding the common calling mistakes made by hunters. The theme of the series also heavily permeates this episode: teaching elk hunters how to work every bull they encounter and tailor their calling to that specific bull's situation.
On this installment of the ElkNut Series, the ElkNut, Paul Medel, discusses the focus of the series, which is helping the DIY, over the counter, public land elk hunter work every bull they encounter in the elk woods. On this episode Paul also talks with Ryan and Tayler about what he does to locate elk, reading the emotional message in a bull's bugle, and tailoring your calling to that bull. You don't want to miss it!
