On this episode we chat with vocalist and front "ghoul" of None More Negative, Xero Silver. This self-proclaimed "Wold's Worst Tribute to Type O Negative" do the legendary cult band justice both live and with videos such as All Hallow's Eve directed by Mike Sloat and their latest, Creepy Green Light. NON clearly understands the balance of sorrow and satire that launched the Slow, Deep and Hard grooves and infectious melodies of TON into the limelight. A long time fan of goth, industrial, and horror, Xero became involved with None More Negative after discovering Type O Negative and auditioning as a backup vocalist for the bay area tribute band. As fate would have it, their singer went MIA and Xero became the lead singer. And, oddly enough, she fits the role perfectly! We think the surviving members of Type O would highly approve; in fact Xero has met a few of them but is yet to meet her idol, the band's keyboardist and engineer/producer, Josh Silver (last name not a coincidence). Did Xero go so far as traveling to Brooklyn in the hopes she'd get injured and EMT Josh would come to her rescue? Well, duh. This is part of the Type O Negative mastermind we're talking about, not a vanilla helping of Maroon 5. Along with fronting None More Negative, Xero has been featured in music videos directed by Eric Livingston for Ipecac Recording artists Dead Cross and Mike Patton & Jean Claude Vannier, and starred in the recent bizarre short film 'Vampire Mermaid from Outer Space' Bizarre? Yeah. The entire cast and crew shot the film on mushrooms. We get some backstory into this and Xero's other artistic endeavors as well as the usual chitchat about bands we love and, on this episode in particular, we dig into some we "hate". Xero was a cooperative ghoul and did not let us down with her disgust of those acts she does not approve. However, we all have excellent taste and therefore discuss our love of Seattle grunge bands and even try to name favorite albums (which provers difficult!). Other topics include food (green beans), movies and the basic usual chitchat. Enjoy! RIP Peter Steele. "Goat headed, human bodied, and three-horned, the Baphomet is an icon symbolizing the reconciliation of opposites; dueling binaries combined and transcending into something greater than the sum of their parts. The track we have titled Baphomet blends the electronic with the medieval, the drone with the sceam, the raucous with the orchestral. These conflicting elements, we hope, blend to create Easy Listening for the Apocalypse." - Lucien Greaves SATANIC PLANET is the creation of Lucien Greaves (The Satanic Temple co-founder and spokesperson), Luke Henshaw (Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera), Dave Lombardo (Slayer, The Misfits, Mr. Bungle, Suicidal Tendencies, Dead Cross), and Justin Pearson (The Locust, Dead Cross, Swing Kids, Deaf Club). With the birth of Satanic Planet, hip-hop producer Henshaw and punk provocateur Pearson joined co-founder and spokesperson of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves-- the most prominent and outspoken contemporary Satanist in the world. Greaves has gained international attention as an advocate for religious liberty and the voice of the Satanic Reformation, delivering lectures nationwide and featured in national media outlets including MSNBC, NPR, Huffington Post Live, CNN, Harper’s Monthly, Newsweek, Fox News, Vice, Salon, Rolling Stone, and many more. As the trio were diligently working, and nearly completed with, the music for their debut album, the worldwide pandemic hit, seemingly bringing things to a halt. However, with the onset of this new way of living, the newly-formed band was in a unique position to enlist the legendary Dave Lombardo, who found himself not touring for the first time in years, and suddenly having more time to work in his home studio on projects that interested him. With the addition of this iconic drummer, Satanic Planet was complete. Along the way, an eclectic range of guest appearances arise, including Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan, Nomi Abadi, Silent’s Jung Sing, Shiva Honey, Eric Livingston (also known as his artist moniker, First Church of the Void), and Hexa’s Carrie Feller. This collaboration embraces the avant garde to create sci-fi sermons that range from doom and industrial to evil exotica.
Welcome to our marathon podcast with the fascinating and multi-talented Eric Alan Livingston. Eric resides in the Bay Area and has worked with a plethora of artists throughout his career. Most recently he has created artwork, packaging and videos for Ipecac Recordings bands such as Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross and Mike Patton w/ Jean Claude Vannier. Currently he is working on the artwork and layout for the upcoming fifth record from supergroup, Tomahawk. Eric is an artist in the truest sense and his body of work is eclectic to say the least. Aside from shooting, animating and directing videos, he runs lights for touring acts, is writing and directing a feature length film, and works as a musician/multi-instrumentalist in various projects (currently with Satanic Planet, featuring members of Dead Cross, the Locust and Planet B). We talk tattoos, sex toys (that Eric made for Kink.com), music & music videos, touring, classic horror movies & directors, philosophy, and even toss in a splash of politics and religion. Side note: Eric created the This Is Death Metal video for Skunk's band A Good Rogering. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
