OH NO! We have some upsetting stats for Nebraska's OC.
Join us this episode for a conversation with Norbert Weidner, MD, Professor and Chair of the Spinal Cord Injury Center at Heidelberg University Hospital. In this conversation we discuss results of a clinical trial called the Neuroimmunophilin Nogo-A Antibody in Spinal Cord Injury (NISCI) trial. Findings from this trial were published in a paper titled "Safety and efficacy of intrathecal antibodies to Nogo-A in patients with acute cervical spinal cord injury: a randomised, double-blind, multicentre, placebo-controlled, phase 2b trial" in the journal Lancet Neurology. In this paper Weidner and the NISCI team discuss the top-line findings from this large multi-center clinical trial where a drug (with antibodies against Nogo-A, a protein found in the walls of spinal cord neurons and their support cells) were given to people early after their accident. We invite you to listen in as Dr. Weidner gives an insider perspective on the NISCI trial, and trust you will enjoy our conversation on new pharmaology in the acute phase of SCI.

In this episode, Adam Olson reveals why traditional tools fall short and how you can build a smarter, more secure plan for early retirement.Listeners will discover the overlooked expenses that hit hard between ages 60 and 65, like inflated healthcare costs, higher inflation impact, and elevated lifestyle spending, and why relying on the 4% rule alone can be dangerous. Adam also breaks down practical strategies from his Red Zone Retirement Planning process to help safeguard your nest egg through your most active retirement years.Key Takeaways:Most calculators ignore key factors like healthcare gaps, inflation, and sequence-of-returns risk.Early retirees need 18–24 months of cash reserves to weather downturns and maintain Affordable Care Act coverage.Planning Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go phases helps avoid running out of money later in life.Smart Social Security timing and diversified income sources are crucial for long-term success.Want personalized help? What if the best experiences of your life aren't meant to wait until retirement? In this episode, I share the story of my unforgettable backpacking trip through Europe — a trip that still pays me “memory dividends” years later. We'll talk about the Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go years from Bill Perkins' Die With Zero, and why timing is everything when it comes to creating a life filled with joy, stories, and connection. This isn't just about travel — it's about choosing experiences over excuses, and making sure your life story is written by you, not lived vicariously through others.References: Bill Perkins

Many believe that hitting the $1 million savings milestone automatically grants financial freedom in retirement—but that's far from the truth. In this eye-opening episode, retirement expert Adam Olson breaks down why having a million dollars in your portfolio doesn't guarantee peace of mind, freedom, or even the confidence to retire. He shares real-world client experiences, including Joe and Jennifer, a couple who had crossed the seven-figure threshold but still felt paralyzed when it came to spending.Adam uncovers the emotional and practical reasons why retirees hesitate to draw from their savings, and how fear of running out of money leads many to live far more frugally than necessary.

Send us a textAs a father and son doing a podcast we're keenly aware of the bond that baseball can bring to a family. We loved talking with a real live recent (and possibly future) MLB player and his father about their relationship and journeys in baseball. What's it like playing #MLB today? How hard is it to hit today's pitchers and get out Major League hitters? John Sr. is on a book tour with his latest release "Diamond Duels" which we recommend highly. He's also written "Last Time Out" and a non-baseball book "Nashua" which is where he hailed from but it' not about his childhood. Jr. grew up in Tallahassee and always wanted to be a baseball player for Florida State and he did that and so much more - while his Dad covered the team for the local paper. They go by 'Nogo' and the 'Big Nogowski' thing is fun and done for a charity which John Jr. relates. Father's Day and baseball - they go together so well! Und was gibt's Neues in Sachen Peter Stöger? For years, financial advisors and retirees alike have relied on three well-known retirement benchmarks: the 4% rule, the million-dollar savings goal, and retiring at age 65. But are these numbers truly reliable, or are they leading people into financial uncertainty? In this episode, [Host's Name] dives deep into why these outdated retirement planning assumptions can be dangerous pitfalls—and what strategies you should be using instead. By working with countless retirees, [Host's Name] has seen firsthand how rigidly following these rules can derail financial security. From the unpredictability of market downturns to the highly personal nature of spending patterns in retirement, this episode exposes the flaws in conventional wisdom and offers practical, flexible alternatives to help you achieve financial freedom. Key Takeaways from This Episode: • Why the 4% rule doesn't work in today's unpredictable market. • How focusing on income rather than a set savings goal creates financial security. • Why retirement isn't about age—it's about financial and personal readiness. • The importance of spending flexibility during the “Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go” years. • How customized retirement planning can prevent costly mistakes and ease financial anxiety. If you've ever felt stressed or uncertain about retirement, this episode will give you the tools to break free from outdated rules and build a strategy tailored to your unique goals.
