«Wir haben wirklich unser Bestes gegeben», sagt My Morning Jacket-Keyboarder Bo Koster im Sounds!-Interview über das zehnte Album seiner Southern-Rock-inspirierten Kapelle. Und er hat verdammt recht. «Is» ist das beste My Morning Jacket-Album seit Jahren. +++ PLAYLIST +++ · 22:56 – ANWAY von FROWN LINE · 22:52 – PECKHAM RYE von MONTE MAI · 22:48 – YOU GOT TIME AND I GOT MONEY von SMERZ · 22:43 – PURE LOVE von DJ KOZE FEAT. Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by a very special guest this week for Episode 551 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Tracii Guns tells us about his favorite pedals, plugins, and pajamas! Please be aware this episode contains infrequent swearing and drug references - not suitable for minors! This week the guys are pretty stoked to have one of Brian's all-time guitar heroes on the show. Tracii Guns is a legendary LA based guitarist, super talented player, and happens to be the founding member of a couple of huge bands you may have heard of. He also has a vast amount of stories and anecdotes to recount...and they are seriously funny. Brian drills straight into the culture of the Sunset Strip scene of the 1980s as the guys take a "behind the scenes" peek into the LA rock scene of that era. Tracii talks about some of the legendary bands he played alongside when LA Guns first made it, including Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, WASP, and a whole bunch more. Richard looks at the differences between the English and the US Music scene of that period and Tracii has some great insights and a mutual love of some classic British bands.Blake asks about the early days of Grunge and how that changed the direction of rock and Tracii gives us a candid and hilarious take on how that played out and what it meant for the musicians of the time. Tracii then tells us how Brian helped him through an existential rig crisis and you might be surprised by the fixes they came up with.http://www.lagunsmusic.com/ The Nigels, The Rock Sock, Kid Creole, Steve Vai, Rockman stories...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://www.wamplerdiy.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 550 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -The hardest working podcast in town, the new Rockman, and where is your guitar made? Blake is back from NAMM, appears to be relatively healthy, and somehow everything is Richard's fault. Speaking of the erstwhile king of fuzz, he has been listening to some country music and he has an observation and makes a public apology again. Blake is interrogated for all the good NAMM info and it turns out he doesn't have anywhere near as much as the guys hoped. Do you care a lot about her your guitars are manufactured? Fender have recently announced there new "Standard" range which is made in Indonesia and the guys talk about whether that actually makes any difference to the quality of the finished article. Brian considers becoming an email scammer in order to get noticed by Musicman and expresses some levels of exasperation about some of the responses to he new MXR Rockman pedal. Richard was impressed with the new Tone King floor amp pedal thang and makes some wild speculation and has also sold a Telecaster. Brian practices firing him on air. Phil X has been spotted channeling his inner Jimi with a Velvet Fuzz and Blake discusses how he has completely fallen in love with EGO 76 before indulging in some crazy yodeling. How interdependent were the Northern industrial economy and Southern slave labor in pre-Civil War America? Historian and Brown University history professor Seth Rockman says the traditional way of thinking about the United States in the early 19th century—that of a nation with an industrializing North and agricultural South—overlooks the economic ties that held together the nation before the Civil War. He says it misses slavery's long reach into small New England communities, and it fails to recognize the role of Northern manufacturing in shaping the terrain of human bondage in the South. Rockman, in his new book Plantation Goods, looks at the shirts, hats, hoes, shovels, shoes, axes, and whips made in the North for use in the South. By following the stories of material objects, such as shoes made by Massachusetts farm women that found their way to the feet of a Mississippi slave, Rockman says it was a national economy organized by slavery—a slavery that outsourced the production of its supplies to the North, and a North that outsourced its slavery to the South. Examining producers and consumers linked in economic and moral relationships across great geographic and political distances, Rockman explores how people in the 19th century thought about complicity with slavery while showing how slavery structured life nationwide and established a modern world of entrepreneurship and exploitation. Welcome back to Drafting the Past, a show about the craft of writing history. In this episode, Kate Carpenter interviews historian Dr. Seth Rockman. Seth is a historian at Brown University. His first book was called Scraping By: Wage Labor, Slavery, and Survival in Early Baltimore, and he is also the co-editor of the volume Slavery's Capitalism: A New History of American Economic Development. He does a great deal of interesting interdisciplinary work on labor history, and he has even been called on to share his research findings on slavery and capitalism with the U.S. House Financial Services Committee. His new book, out now, is called Plantation Goods: A Material History of American Slavery. You'll love Seth's responses about how challenging the writing process can be, the joys of archives and the need for deadlines to drag us out of them, and why his dissertation adviser's advice is always in his ear while he writes. Thanks for listening to this episode of Drafting the Past. I also want to give a special shout out to some of the newest supporters of the show on Patreon at the third draft tier. Huge thank you to Lauren S., Megan N., Kate D., Katie B., and Jenny S., as well as all of the supporters at the first and second draft tier. A simple leather shoe. A scratchy shirt made of cotton or wool. A roughly-hewn axe. A leather whip, braided in New Jersey. Southern slavery did not just depend on an extractive economic system, or a highly-unequal racial and social order, or a brutal regime of labor exploitation—even though it needed all of those things. It also required a vast array of goods: real, tangible tools and garments that were usually made in the North and used in the South. Seth Rockman's new book follows those everyday objects: from their production, to their sale, to their distribution and use on plantations. Along the way, he reveals the economic and imaginative ties that linked people living across antebellum America—North and South. And he explains how those plantation goods could become sites of struggle, as slaves used them to contest the terms of their bondage.
In this episode, Isabella interviews Dr Seth Rockman, associate professor of history at Brown University, about his new book Plantation Goods: A Material History of American Slavery.Images and sources are available at @sewwhatpodcast on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me', el nuevo disco de Porridge Radio, es un álbum curioso. Playlist:Ducks Ltd. - Grim SymmetryThe Drums - I (Still) Don't Know How To LoveLos Punsetes, Los Planetas - Tu Puto GrupoMk.gee - ROCKMANSaya Gray - SHELL (OF A MAN)Faye Webster, Lil Yachty - Lego RingBenjamin Booker - LWA IN THE TRAILER PARKCurtis Williams, Mura Masa - Here With MeFKA twigs - Perfect StrangerKelly Lee Owens - SunshineConfidence Man - FAR OUTThe Blessed Madonna, Joy Anonymous, Danielle Ponder - Carry Me HigherFred again..,Joy Anonymous - peace u needPorridge Radio - AnybodyBon Iver - THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGSSufjan Stevens, Katia Labèque, Marielle Labèque, David Chalmin, Bryce Dessner - ReflexionEscuchar audio

Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 508 of the Chasing Tone PodcastIt's podcast day, and Brian has avoided being sucked into a funnel cloud, so we start the episode of with an extra dose of frivolity and nonsensical mutterings. There is camping talk and weather talk and Richard campaigns for moderate weather conditions. Wampler Pedals made a social media post involving Brian's take on the infamous Rockman and the guys chat about how it was created. There were some great April fool's gags this year and the guys talk about some of their favorites and Blake tells us all about the one he was involved in for Gun Street Wiring. Richard makes an apology. There was a question submitted to the guys about buffers and the guys go deep into the weeds with it, the importance of impedance, and other general nerd topics. Brian redefines important technical terms.Richard is a little nervous about an upcoming band rehearsal so distracts himself by talking about his pedalboard and the choices he made. Somehow this ends up back at a chat about the Rockman sound again and Brian makes musical impersonations. Blake shows Brian some vintage Bucket Brigade chips and he gets very excited. There's been some controversy with some deepfaking of guitar impresario and UFO enthusiast Rob Chapman and the guys debate it.Mullets aplenty, Cusack's jacks, Squelch, Harley Benton, Agnes Obel, The Specials ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! Thanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://modyourownpedal.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

Introducing the Band:Your hosts Scot Bertram (@ScotBertram) and Jeff Blehar (@EsotericCD) are with guest Tom Nichols. Tom is a staff writer at The Atlantic and author ofThe Death of Expertise: The Campaign against Established Knowledge and Why it Matters, with a new second edition out soon. Find him on X/Twitter at@RadioFreeTom. Tom's Music Pick: BostonThis could be our first episode that is longer simply by listening to the entirety of the band's actual discography. Even if true, we still think you should choose Political Beats!Boston is an unusual band, sui generis in many ways. To begin with, Boston is really one guy: Tom Scholz. Okay, Okay, he probably couldn't pull this off without the voice of Brad Delp. And our guest is quick to point out Sib Hashian has some nice moments on drums on the Boston debut album. But Scholz wrote nearly all the songs, he developed the guitar sound, he spent years in his basement perfecting that debut album. And what a debut it was. You know every song here and all but one remain in heavy rotation on classic rock radio stations across the country. It was the biggest-selling debut in history for about a decade after its release. “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” “Foreplay/Long Time,” and “Hitch a Ride” continue to soundtrack summers annually. But what do you do for an encore? And how do you evolve that sound, if at all? These are some of the questions we kick around throughout the show. It's always a blast to be joined by a guest who actually lived through the release of some of the music we are discussing. Tom gives a needed and appreciated perspective on Boston and the impact the music had on the rock world. We'll talk until you're feelin' satisfied and are prepared to walk on to another episode. Grab your Rockman amp and plug in to Political Beats.
Tonight we are reflecting on Legendary Wings which was a 1986 arcade game developed and published by Capcom which was later released for the NES in North America in July of 1988. Capcom was responsible for porting popular arcade games to the NES like Commando, Gun. Smoke and Ghosts and Goblins. They also created games based off of Disney licensed franchises like Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers, Ducktales and Darkwing Duck. Capcom was also responsible for the creation of the phenomenon known as “Rockman” aka Megaman in North America. Tonight our visiting Deacon is once again Jeff Gabor. The miNEStry founders, Archbishop Dracul and Father Avram, seek to inspire their 8-bit parishioners through methodical and ceremonial scrutiny of the library of games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
From time to time we receive messages from Talk Travel Asia listeners about their travels in Asia and we're glad to have inspired or assisted them with their experiences. After some recent back and forths with several patrons about their Asian adventures, we decided to David Rockman to come on the show and share about his adult family trip to Bali so you can learn about it and perhaps find some inspiration for your next journey there.
Israel is a traumatized nation since the morning of October 7th, when Hamas Terrorists entered the land and went on a rampage of killing, torturing and raping. Israel is the only nation where repeatedly its very existence is threatened and yet, it is populated by a people, like everyone everywhere, who only want peace, a secure life for health and happiness. This episode of Commentaries From the Edge highlights an Israeli organization called The Ariel Center. In talking with its founder, Gila Rockman, we learn that the Center was created in memory of her Brother, Ariel Goldsmith. It is dedicated to serving those affected by trauma and now, after October 7th, the Center is focused on healing and treating an entire generation. Listen to their array of projects rooted in promoting resiliency with the theme of transforming adversity into strength and despair into hope. About a year ago I was joined by Rockman Cosmo and Naoya Shinota to discuss their efforts in preserving Japanese feature phone games. Since so much time had passed I wanted to bring them back on the show to talk about how their efforts are going, the progress they made in a year and what their goals going forward are. I had a wonderful time catching up with them and I can't thank them enough for setting aside more of their time to share what's been going on in their corner of the preservation community. Alexis Rockman is an artist who paints giant, beautiful and often disturbing scenes of environmental destruction. Bradley talks to him about what happens when art and reality collide. "I've made plenty of paintings that I certainly wouldn't want to live with," says Rockman, "and somehow miraculously sold."This episode was taped at P&T Knitwear at 180 Orchard Street — New York City's only free podcast recording studio.Send us an email with your thoughts on today's episode: info@firewall.mediaSubscribe to Bradley's weekly newsletter, follow Bradley on Twitter, and visit the Firewall website.
Rockshow Episode 185 Boston Boston is an American rock band formed in 1976 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band was founded by Tom Scholz, an MIT-educated engineer and musician, along with vocalist Brad Delp and other members. Boston is known for its distinctive sound, characterized by soaring harmonies, intricate guitar work, and a blend of rock and progressive elements. Their self-titled debut album, "Boston," released in 1976, became a massive success and is one of the best-selling debut albums in history. It included hits like "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind." The band's sound featured Scholz's innovative use of technology, particularly the Rockman amplifier, which contributed to their signature guitar sound. Boston released several more albums over the years, including "Don't Look Back" (1978), "Third Stage" (1986), and others. While they didn't match the extraordinary success of their debut, they maintained a dedicated fan base. Tragically, Brad Delp, the band's iconic vocalist, passed away in 2007. Despite lineup changes and long gaps between albums, Boston continued to tour and record new music. Their music remains a significant part of classic rock history, known for its melodic hooks and technical craftsmanship in the rock genre. https://www.facebook.com/LukeBuysVintage?mibextid=LQQJ4d Luke Buys Vintage I buy vintage band shirts.
