My guest today is someone I have a lot of respect for in the fitness industry and his name is Elliott Hulse. He’s a strength and conditioning coach, the owner of Strength Camp, which is a gym in St. Petersburg Florida, an author, speaker, and prolific content creator. He’s also a family man with a wife and four children. However, he is probably best known for his YouTube channels which have amassed more than 2.5 million subscribers and he’s created sort of a cult following (in a good way) over the years. His “in your face” approach to telling it like it is has worked incredible well for him and he’s built multiple businesses on the foundation of what’s he created. Elliott got started in the fitness game before the Internet was born and was teaching boot camp classes before they because popular. He says he basically used trash like old tires, garbage bags filled with sand and anything else he could find to use for strongman type exercises to give his clients incredible workouts. And as he started sharing them on YouTube, his channel started taking off and ultimately created the foundation for his fitness empire. He's been doing some new things in his businesses and we spoke about the direction he's going which is towards spirituality and helping men become the strongest versions of themselves, inside and out. He also has a brand helping people find meaningful and fulfilling work and it's called the Non Job Revolution. In essence, it's a way of earning a fantastic living without a traditional job and by doing what you love. Known for his booming voice, straight talk, and abundance of confidence, Elliott shares his thoughts on what that means and how being unapologetically yourself is the best place to start. He has also created something called Hybrid Yoga and spends much of his time now dedicated to movement instead of pure strength training as he has in years past. He's become deeply spiritual and has started something called Grounding Camp, which is a sacred space for men to unleash their inner power, go through an initiation process of self learning, and being part of a tribe to hold you accountable. I've seen some his videos for this and it looks pretty fu*king intense! I wasn't sure what to expect in this interview and it went in a few different directions, a few of which I wasn't expecting and I ended up learning some fascinating things.

Elliott is the founder and CEO of Strength Camp and Grounding Camp, and is the author of the book, “KING: The Four Layer Approach To Becoming The Strongest Version Of Yourself.” Interview Summary: In this interview, Elliott starts by discussing how he got into strength and conditioning coaching. He talks about his greatest teachers and mentors, including his uncle and his father, and shares the most important lessons that he learned from them. Elliott goes on to describe the connection between the mind and the body. He explains how emotional pain and trauma manifest in our bodies. We ask him how he sees traumas carried in both himself and his clients. Next, Elliott shares his knowledge about bioenergetic analysis and discusses its origins. He explains what muscular armory is, and outlines the seven main bands of muscular tension that people develop. He also discusses how tension affects our breathing, and reveals some physical symptoms of muscular armory. Elliott then talks about how deep breathing exercises release tension and can bring up a variety of intense emotions. He emphasizes the importance of expressing and having an objective view of our emotions. Elliott then explains how confronting trapped emotions purges our demons, and how doing so allows us to become our true selves. He reveals common signs of trapped emotions. He then offers strategies to first become aware of and then confront them physically. Elliott goes on to discuss the ego and what a healthy ego-self axis entails. He also talks about thoughts, including where they originate from, how they undermine us, and how to observe them objectively. Elliot goes more in depth on Bioenergetic Grounding. He explains why it's more effective than modern meditation and confronts the struggles of life on a deeper level. He then gives some examples of how angels and demons invade the body. Lastly, Elliott describes his meditation practices, as well as the purpose and benefits of meditation. As a final insight, he emphasizes that charisma is spontaneous, and naturally becomes a part of who we are when we clear emotional blocks and let our real selves shine.
