“Most of us do not do enough to prepare for the unexpected.” How sure are you that you, your family, and your business are ready in times of emergency? Our guest today is Mary Beth Simón. She founded Niche Partnership Consulting “to solve real-world problems faced by individuals and entrepreneurs” with particular emphasis on helping them create their contingency plan to keep business and life running smoothly in an emergency. Listen in and learn why most people’s “contingency plans” are seldom robust enough when challenging times arrive and the most common things that they overlook when it comes to having their plan ready for deployment. Mary Beth also explains why contingency plans are not just for the elderly or sickly and why it is, in fact, never too early for anybody to start preparing theirs. Key Topics: What does Mary Beth do, exactly? (1:52) Optimizing our processes to be ready in times of emergency (4:45) Why Mary Beth has her clients create a paper plan as opposed to a digital plan (07:00) What most people don’t realize when it comes to having a contingency plan ready (8:02) How a leader and their second-in-command can best prepare for the unexpected (10:32) The process that Mary Beth uses when working with business owners (14:32) “There aren’t that many people that you can pay to figure it out in an emergency.” (15:55) Why do people avoid preparing for the inevitable? Hey friends! Today’s episode was actually recorded in March of 2020 and given the topic, we didn’t feel it was appropriate to air it when it was originally scheduled to be released. However, the story is really powerful and important so I wanted to share it with you and hope you gain the inspiration for how you can grow your business any way you want! Thinking about selling your business? Even if you’re still in the early stages of entrepreneurship or if you’ve been at it for quite some time, it’s never a bad idea to at least consider the thought of one day selling your company. That’s why I invited on a past guest, Mary Beth Storjohann of Workable Wealth. Mary Beth was on the podcast for episode 28 and we talked about money misconceptions and the importance of knowing your numbers in business… Well, that has all paid off for her and today we talked about what it was like to sell her business. She shares the nitty-gritty of the decision-making process, how she weighed out the pros and cons, concerns she had and what non-negotiables she made sure were included in the contract (like the ability to work remote and live in Italy for 3 months out of the year!) We discussed how her definition of success has evolved from the early days of business to now. She shares how this process gave her a glimpse into who she was and what was most important to her and she ultimately shares her candid advice to those who may be thinking about selling their business one day (and why you absolutely need a lawyer to help you with the process). ON TODAY’S EPISODE: How Mary Beth defined success in the early days of her business Mary Beth’s experience with being approached with inquiries of buying and merging Her initial reaction to Abacus expressing interest in purchasing her business The concerns that came up that made Mary Beth decline the merger Being offered the role of the Chief Marketing Officer to revamp their marketing Her fears and frustrations around letting go of Workable Wealth Weighing each layer of her decision on whether or not to do the merger The non-negotiables that Mary Beth insisted on having in the company merger Planning her dream life and putting it all in her merger contract Keeping her rights to be able to run Workable Wealth Lessons that she’s learned about herself through this process How Mary Beth defines success now Her advice for something thinking about selling their own business RESOURCES: 028 | Money Misconceptions & Financial Accountability with Mary Beth Storjohann, Workable Wealth Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own PersonHow are brick & mortar shop owners navigating Covid-19? It seems like this should be an easy one, but it can be hard to dedicate time to rest in this hurry-up, life-is-passing-you-by society of ours. It certainly is hard for me: Most times when I take a break, I find myself thinking thoughts like, “I should be working..” Sound familiar? This is a nasty cycle that will undoubtedly leave me exhausted and vulnerable to illness. If you can’t nap, I am with you—in this case, simply rest. No TV, no cell phone, no scrolling. I have found that I am most restored if I just get some quiet, read, or listen to an audiobook. You find what works for you! If you want extra credit then go more than 20 minutes! Let’s be honest, technology can be difficult to navigate, especially if you’re like our guest today who says she is not a spring chicken. She jokingly says that she’s just a “chubby grandma” and feels like technology isn’t for her. If you find yourself strongly resonating with our guest today, stay tuned in as we deep dive into how you can lean on your own strengths to get you across that barrier that can impede the success of your business. "Bliss not as a facade, but as a moment to moment reality that I choose."Get ready, this episode just might be my favorite of all time! We have both Jacki Carr and Mary Beth LaRue together on the show. (OMG, I know. It's like Christmas morning).Jacki and Mary Beth are the founders of Rock Your Bliss, a coaching and transformation company that I've deeply loved and today, we're talking about some of the biggest tools and topics I've resonated with in their coaching programs. In this episode, we deep dive on faith and trust. These two words alone bring up so much stuff and Jacki and Mary Beth explore how to practice trust when things feel wildly uncertain, when you're grasping at nothing, and in those moments when shit really does hit the fan. They also share how they return to wholeness and self acceptance in those minutes that can feel like weeks. We also touch on crafting an intentional social media practice and this concept of letting go of trying to "make it." As growth seeking beings, we're always on the lookout for what's next or trying to build our lives after we see what other people are doing. We talk a lot about letting go of this "I'll be happy when" syndrome that many of us dwell in. (Including myself at times when I'm not mastering my mindset).Lastly, we touch on intuition, creating space and stillness to the answers to come, and not always reaching for the next big thing. Plus, I adore their take on the importance of creating from abundance versus scarcity. So, tune in and listen to this episode, especially if you need a dose of faith and trust. You'll complete adore it. Grab your matcha, your coffee, or your Four Sigmatic and hang out with us three for the hour.About Rock Your Bliss:Rock Your Bliss offers radical coaching to help you design a life that... well... rocks your bliss. They foster community through self-development practices, vulnerable conversations, and applicable tools.Making Shift Happen is their motto. It's how they live and how they thrive.A transformation company founded by Jacki Carr and Mary Beth LaRue, they offer a unique combination of yoga + coaching which brings action to intention. It's how dreams become reality. Through years of friendship, many sweaty yoga classes and game-changing conversations over green juice or coffee, Jacki, and Mary Beth found a combination that is truly life-altering.In this episode, you'll learn:- What bliss means to them. "Bliss not as a facade, but as a moment to moment reality that I choose." - Jacki Carr- How to practice trust and how Jacki and Mary Beth have individually have learned to trust themselves and each other in their friendship and business.- How Mary Beth trusts that everything works out as it should, especially in the moments when it feels like a free fall or everything is on the line.- How on the other side of trust is transformation. (+ The intuitive nature of trust).- "I need trust like I need air, and sunlight, and water." - Mary Beth LaRue- That you can show up trusting life or you can show up like the world is out to get you.- That when you are grounded and present, it's an amazing time to call in what you are desiring. (+ That the universe is unfolding as it should and life is unfolding as it should).- "Its about being as present as I possibly can to what's occurring in my life. And not evening spending time labeling something as good or bad, but instead just being present for all that is occurring." - Mary Beth LaRue- How our fear brain wants to attack, plan for disaster, and always look for the worst case scenario. When instead, how to tune into that love-based voice in our head or intuition and shift the focus.- Intentional social media use and making sure you're not using it to fill the void or drown out your feelings.- How important it is to carve out space for yourself and why it's vital to get even ten minutes of solo time and space.- "If you watch a tree that isn't producing fruit, you might think it's done producing fruit, but it's not. It's getting the energy to create something else." - Mary Beth LaRue- The importance of creating from abundance versus scarcity.- "It's this balance of loving what is and then having the trust and the collaboration with the universe to create. But if you don't start with the relaxed state of gratitude, then we approach it from a place of scarcity." - Mary Beth LaRueResources Mentioned:- 7-Weeks to Bliss- Level 2 of Rock Your Bliss- Vital Proteins- Four Sigmatic- La Croix- Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change by Pema Chodron- Martha Beck- Jacki's book club: Novel Grapes- Eastern Body Western Mind by Anodea Judith- Jess Davis of Folk Rebellion- The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte- Lewis Howes- Brene BrownFind Jacki & Mary Beth:Instagram: @jackicarrjackicarr.comInstagram: @marybethlaruemarybethlarue.comrockyourblissmovement.comInstagram: @rockyourblissFind Kelly:Instagram: @kellytrachkellytrach.comMusic for The Kelly Trach Show is by Ikson: soundcloud.com/iksonSupport for today's show comes from:Four SigmaticNo jitters, packed with superfoods, and no stomach flare-ups like regular coffee.
