#WisdomWednesdays: Spreading Hope and Overcoming COVID-19 Through Love and Compassion COVID-19 has impacted the lives of everyone across the globe, making the world seem like a terrifying place. After more than a year, there are still surges in cases despite all our progress. While it may be difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we should stay positive. There is a silver lining to the pandemic. We will all get through this if we keep spreading hope and extending a helping hand. In this episode, Rosie shares her experience of contracting COVID-19. She talks about how she and Torry pulled through, with the help of their friends and loving dogs. Getting the virus made her realize just how crucial it is to have a community that can support you in these trying times. Rosie and Tessa also emphasize the importance of prioritizing collective welfare over individual concerns. By pushing for the greater good, we can all move forward from this pandemic. Tune in and be inspired to start spreading hope and acting from a place of love and compassion. Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Hear about Rosie's firsthand experience with COVID-19 and how she was able to overcome the virus. Know about the importance of emotional support, compassion, and responsibility. Find out how you can continue spreading hope in these difficult times. Episode Highlights Contracting the Virus Rosie recently contracted the virus and is still recovering. She was yet to be vaccinated. However, she is not anti-vax. Her doctor advised her to wait for 90 days for her body to recover before getting inoculated against the virus. She regrets postponing her vaccination because she was afraid of missing a day of work. When she got the virus, she ended up having to rest for two and a half weeks. Interacting with Gentleness After contracting the virus, Rosie had more compassion for people who had gone through the same experience. Many emailed her, asking about her vaccination status. While she recognizes that they come from a good place, she reminds everyone that it's also important to be gentle. She hopes that we can tune into compassion and empathy instead of attacking and blaming each other. On Vaccination There's a difference between not being vaccinated yet and being anti-vax. Tessa expresses how the United States is fortunate for having so many vaccines to choose from and the ability to make a conscious decision. How Rosie Survived the Virus Rosie is thankful for our medical professionals who helped her when she got sick. Many of them contracted the virus during the start of the outbreak. Since she lives in a big city, she was able to get their meals and groceries delivered. She also got comfort from talking to her friends who also contracted and survived the virus. Post-COVID-19 Rosie fell into a slump after getting the virus. She thinks that lack of movement and human touch contributed to this depression. Once she started feeling better, Rosie did minimal restorative yoga and cleaned their house. However, she had to stop halfway through because she began to feel ill again. She then realized that she barely ate anything in the past days since she lost her sense of taste. How Their Dogs Helped Rosie and Torry have three pit bulls: Chowder, Rosie, and Brinks. They slept in separate rooms and split up the dogs; Rosie got the two boys. During that time, Chowder was very attentive to her. He seems to sense that something was wrong. The dogs helped Rosie stay sane during the whole ordeal. Spreading Hope and Compassion We are all figuring things out together. Remember how important it is to take care of each other. Be compassionate, empathetic, and responsible. One of the ways you can do this is by wearing a mask. Emphasize taking care of the whole, as opposed to focusing on the individual. Keep reaching out to others and letting people know you're here for the greater good. Coming From a Place of Love We are currently balancing between a scary, difficult time and a hopeful, transitional one. So, it's important to remember that we are all humans going through human experiences. Rather than coming from a place of judgment, try to be more curious. Doing so allows for learning and deeper connections. Mindfulness, yoga, and meditation can help you practice acting from a place of love and compassion. Rosie's Advice Trust that the situation will improve. Rosie and Torry are feeling better by the day. Turn off your phone and be in the moment. Talk to people, and focus on the positive. Find time to be grateful every day. 5 Powerful Quotes [06:24] “I ended up losing way more than I would have had I just gone to get vaccinated.” [23:13] “It's such a terrible virus. But for the people that made it through, we're here; we all need to be here for each other.” [24:36] “We have to remember that we're all human, and we're all having this human experience.” [26:30] “You need to focus. You need to tune in and let yourself be in the present moment.” [27:27] “I know that things will get better. And we have to just focus on the good and the things that we're grateful for every morning.” This episode brought to you by Betterhelp Enjoy 10% off your first month by using code Discount code LOVED will be automatically applied. https://www.betterhelp.com/loved This episode brought to you by ReadySlim Tea www.readyslim.com/loved To save 25% off your first order of Ready Slim's 28 Day Detox Tea Kit plus a FREE collapsable water bottle. "Bliss not as a facade, but as a moment to moment reality that I choose."Get ready, this episode just might be my favorite of all time! We have both Jacki Carr and Mary Beth LaRue together on the show. (OMG, I know. It's like Christmas morning).Jacki and Mary Beth are the founders of Rock Your Bliss, a coaching and transformation company that I've deeply loved and today, we're talking about some of the biggest tools and topics I've resonated with in their coaching programs. In this episode, we deep dive on faith and trust. These two words alone bring up so much stuff and Jacki and Mary Beth explore how to practice trust when things feel wildly uncertain, when you're grasping at nothing, and in those moments when shit really does hit the fan. They also share how they return to wholeness and self acceptance in those minutes that can feel like weeks. We also touch on crafting an intentional social media practice and this concept of letting go of trying to "make it." As growth seeking beings, we're always on the lookout for what's next or trying to build our lives after we see what other people are doing. We talk a lot about letting go of this "I'll be happy when" syndrome that many of us dwell in. (Including myself at times when I'm not mastering my mindset).Lastly, we touch on intuition, creating space and stillness to the answers to come, and not always reaching for the next big thing. Plus, I adore their take on the importance of creating from abundance versus scarcity. So, tune in and listen to this episode, especially if you need a dose of faith and trust. You'll complete adore it. Grab your matcha, your coffee, or your Four Sigmatic and hang out with us three for the hour.About Rock Your Bliss:Rock Your Bliss offers radical coaching to help you design a life that... well... rocks your bliss. It's how dreams become reality. Through years of friendship, many sweaty yoga classes and game-changing conversations over green juice or coffee, Jacki, and Mary Beth found a combination that is truly life-altering.In this episode, you'll learn:- What bliss means to them. "Bliss not as a facade, but as a moment to moment reality that I choose." - Jacki Carr- How to practice trust and how Jacki and Mary Beth have individually have learned to trust themselves and each other in their friendship and business.- How Mary Beth trusts that everything works out as it should, especially in the moments when it feels like a free fall or everything is on the line.- How on the other side of trust is transformation. (+ The intuitive nature of trust).- "I need trust like I need air, and sunlight, and water." - Mary Beth LaRue- That you can show up trusting life or you can show up like the world is out to get you.- That when you are grounded and present, it's an amazing time to call in what you are desiring. (+ That the universe is unfolding as it should and life is unfolding as it should).- "Its about being as present as I possibly can to what's occurring in my life. And not evening spending time labeling something as good or bad, but instead just being present for all that is occurring." - Mary Beth LaRue- How our fear brain wants to attack, plan for disaster, and always look for the worst case scenario. When instead, how to tune into that love-based voice in our head or intuition and shift the focus.- Intentional social media use and making sure you're not using it to fill the void or drown out your feelings.- How important it is to carve out space for yourself and why it's vital to get even ten minutes of solo time and space.- "If you watch a tree that isn't producing fruit, you might think it's done producing fruit, but it's not. It's getting the energy to create something else." - Mary Beth LaRue- The importance of creating from abundance versus scarcity.- "It's this balance of loving what is and then having the trust and the collaboration with the universe to create. Today's WANTcast guest is someone who's been on my list for a while now: goal coach Jacki Carr. Jacki’s become a highly sought-after pro in her arena who's helped hundreds of people across the globe not only reach their goals, but actually craft exactly what those goals look like, why they matter, and a path to them that is unique to every single person – personal goals, professional goals, whatever. I've met a lot of fantastic people over the internet through the years (holy jeez, just realized I made my first virtual friend at 12. Almost two decades. How did that happen?! [ps. it was a 14 year old girl who loved RENT as much as I did, natch]). What's interesting about Jacki is that we actually should have met in person. We've got about a zillion mutual friends, from fitness instructors we've both worked with to former Lululemon employees (Jacki used to work for Lulu) to various personalities in the Venice/Santa Monica region (where we both called home for one point in time), even people I've met through work that I'd never expect to have a mutual connection with - Jacki is our mutual connection. And it's not hard to see why: Jacki is gregarious to the core and electricity personified. People who meet her are swept up by her enthusiastic and vivacious personality and get hooked on her attention connection. In other words, they come for the spark and stay for the soul. Jacki has the ability to bring out the best in whoever she meets, whether it's in person or virtually. And yet, we'd never met. I was nervous to talk to her one-on-one for the very first time, as when you've connected with someone from afar you sometimes get nervous it won't be that great in person... Boy, was I wrong. We chatted like old friends, and it truly felt like I'd known her a lifetime ago. I know I'm not the only one who has felt this way, which is why I think Jacki is such a powerhouse: she makes everyone around her feel like family. The way I structure my podcasts is very, very loosely - I do a bit of research, I gather a few points I'd like to discuss, and then we just go. I end up rarely needing my notes, as each conversation unfolds so beautifully and naturally, and the women on the WANTcast really have a knack for being a next-level open book. With Jacki, it was just like that. I'd read somewhere that she identified with being an extrovert while her best friend and business partner, Mary Beth LaRue, was an introvert, and as an introvert myself, I was curious to hear the other side of the story when it comes to relationships with different personality types. What unfolded was even better than what I could have imagined. Her husband, turns out, is an introvert as well, and Jacki and I got to dive into the nuances of what happens when we're with our opposites, both in love and in life. Having grown up in an entirely extroverted family and always been attracted to extroverted personalities, I was sucked in by this (in a good way!). Other big things we talked about? Making friends later in life. As Jacki put it, "making new friends in your 30s is gnarly." She's just relocated to Denver after living in LA for quite some time, and we got down and dirty into the topic of navigating life transitions, from business rebranding to personal rebranding to pregnancy and even those little-big stages we all go through in life. Basically, the through-line of this episode comes down to one thing: rebranding your life. What I love is that Jacki’s not a life coach, and she’s not a therapist, she’s got a passion for GOAL SETTING and ACHIEVING specifically that just exudes from every single thing she does. I found this episode not just uplifting... but I was sitting for a WHILE after this call reflecting on my own goals and visions, and how I can use what I’ve been given to make my own unique impact both personally and professionally. I thought about the stages I've been through, and what kinds of changes I might want to make in the future. Hopefully, it’ll do the same for you too. *Little note: this is technically supposed to be the last episode of 2015, but I’m thinking that maybe we throw in an extra episode before the year is up! Not really sure what that looks like yet, but if you’d like that extra episode, shoot me a tweet, or leave me an Instagram comment and just say "YES!" I’ll know what you mean.
