Wayne and Cindy Rodgers sit down with Martin Johnson. He and his wife Julie have been working with the church of Christ in Sandpoint, Idaho, as part of a mission effort for the past 7 years. They are involved heavily in ministry, using YouTube and other ways to reach out to their community. The Johnson family moved to northern Idaho 7 years ago, purchased property, and began living “off-grid” and working toward self-sustainability and showing others how to do so. Many, through their efforts and influence, have obeyed the Gospel. Craig Patterson and Ben Hertzman, President of Progress Luv2Pak and Gather Packaging, discuss the remarkable evolution of the Canadian packaging company since its founding in 1917. Hertzman shares how Luv2Pak began as a hat box factory supplying icons like Holt Renfrew and Hudson's Bay, before his family acquired it in 1981 and expanded into gift boxes, bags, ribbons, and coordinated packaging programs for North America's top retailers. By shifting from solely domestic manufacturing to global sourcing, the company adapted to retailers' changing needs, establishing itself as a leader in premium retail packaging. The conversation explores how pandemic-driven supply chain disruptions and skyrocketing freight costs inspired Luv2Pak's bold decision to reinvest in local production. Hertzman details the launch of Gather Packaging's state-of-the-art paper bag factory in Toronto, built to ensure exceptional quality and a reliable North American supply. The new facility reflects a commitment to making goods closer to where they're consumed, while using sustainable materials and processes that meet the needs of modern retailers and eco-conscious consumers. Patterson and Hertzman also examine how packaging serves as a vital extension of brand experience, both in-store and in e-commerce, acting as a “walking billboard” that reinforces identity and customer loyalty. Highlighting Luv2Pak's longstanding partnership with Harry Rosen as an example of coordinated, high-quality packaging, Ben shares insights on balancing a 100-year legacy with constant innovation, and offers advice for retailers to stay nimble and invest in packaging that reflects their brand values in an ever-changing market. Rangan details how Centric evolved from its roots in apparel PLM to now supporting footwear, consumer electronics, and even formulated products like food and cosmetics. This week on 2Legs (amidst the brand new touring rumours, and Babs dropping her duet on 'My Valentine' with Macca) we are pleased to revisit the Interview Series - where we dissect a rare and not often seen interview with Paul. On this episode we chose the 1977 Interview from an Australian TV program titled "Count Down." This recently surfaced on YouTube and to see the late 70s Wings trio ensconced in the privacy of #2 Studio at Abbey Road is pretty cool to witness. They appear bored at times (Denny especially) but Paul and Linda give some good sound bites here about what's to come. This was mainly used as a promotional tool for the then current single 'Mull of Kintyre.' The gentlemen interviewing Wings is Molly Meldrum. Orignally broadcasted on 24th December 1977. And we like Paul music post-1981, sorry not sorry! Peace Andy & Tom

Craig and Myriam Belzile-Maguire, Founder and Designer at Maguire Shoes, discuss the remarkable growth the Montreal-based footwear brand she founded. Known for its direct-to-consumer model, the brand offers high-quality shoes at affordable prices by cutting out traditional wholesale markups. Myriam shares how her experience as a designer inspired the creation of a mid-range price point in leather footwear that bridges the gap between budget and luxury. Maguire's unique business approach has been instrumental in its success, allowing the brand to maintain fair pricing while delivering exceptional quality. Maguire Shoes has expanded significantly since its inception, starting with a small Montreal shop and growing to include locations in Toronto, New York, and soon, Brooklyn. Myriam explains the strategic importance of being in trend-driven neighborhoods with vibrant local life, such as Nolita in Manhattan, to enhance visibility and attract fashion-savvy customers. Physical stores have also positively impacted online sales, with half of the brand's revenue now generated through e-commerce. Beyond footwear, Maguire has diversified its product line to include accessories such as gloves and jewelry, inspired by collaborations with trusted manufacturers. As the brand continues to explore new markets and refine its offerings, Myriam hints at potential future ventures, including a possible expansion into men's footwear. Despite rapid growth, Maguire Shoes remains committed to its Canadian roots, ensuring competitive pricing for local customers while capturing global attention through innovative designs and strategic retail placement. Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comIn recent years, white Christian nationalism has grown from a fringe ideology into a dominant force shaping American politics and religious identity. But what happens when Christianity is weaponized for power rather than justice? In this episode, political host Will Wright and pastor Josh Burtram sit down with Dr. Greg Garrett, Baylor University professor and prolific author, to unpack how white Christian nationalism is driving people—especially younger generations—away from the church.Drawing from decades of research, personal experience, and his work at Baptist News Global, Garrett explores the rise of anti-justice theology, the quantifiable damage to church membership, and how Christians can resist in a Christ-like way. He also reflects on the importance of listening to Black churches, learning from marginalized voices, and reclaiming a Gospel centered on love, humility, and service.Guest Bio:Dr. Greg Garrett is a professor of English at Baylor University and one of America's leading voices on faith, race, and social justice. He is the author of over 25 books, including recent works on James Baldwin and Christian nationalism. He is a regular contributor to Baptist News Global, where he interviews theologians, pastors, and activists shaping the future of the church.

Revolution, Rebellion, and the Fight for Freedom: Andrew Lawler on the Untold Story of 1776 The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series Welcome to the Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates 6oth anniversary Interview Series, where history comes alive and challenges everything we thought we knew. I'm Paul Vogelzang, and today we have a truly electrifying conversation for you. We all know the story of the American Revolution—patriots fighting for freedom against the might of the British Crown. But what if I told you that one of the most pivotal moments in that fight didn't happen in Boston or Philadelphia, but in Virginia? And what if the spark that helped push the colonies toward independence wasn't a tea party or a midnight ride, but an act of emancipation? Our guest today, New York Times bestselling author and journalist Smithsonian Associate Andrew Lawler, is here to tell us about his new book, available at Apple Books, A Perfect Frenzy: A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis That Spurred the American Revolution. Andrew Lawler will be appearing at Smithsonian Associates coming up so please check out our webstie for links and details. Smithsonian Associate Dr. Andrew Lawler's new book, available at Apple Books is A Perfect Frenzy: A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis That Spurred the American Revolution. In it, he uncovers the untold story of Lord Dunmore, Virginia's last royal governor—a man who, in desperation, issued a proclamation offering freedom to enslaved people who joined the British fight. The result? Chaos, fury, and the kind of political firestorm that changed the course of history. Thomas Jefferson himself admitted it: Dunmore's actions sent the patriots into a perfect frenzy, leading directly to the burning of Norfolk and Virginia's push for independence. But what about the people who answered Dunmore's call—the men who risked everything to fight for a different kind of freedom? What happened to them? And how does this forgotten chapter of history still shape the America we live in today? Andrew Lawler has spent years unraveling this remarkable story, and today, he's here to share it with us. Get ready for an eye-opening conversation about revolution, race, and the myths we've built around our nation's founding. This is history like you've never heard it before—right here, on the Smithsonian Associates 60th Anniversary Interview Series. My thanks to Andrew Lawler. Andrew Lawler is a journalist and author who has written about history, science, religion, and politics from dozens of countries. What happens when an exercise addiction and food disorder result from a relentless drive for success?
