In this episode, Jeff sits down with Hugh Henderson, CEO of Capstone Hospice in Atlanta, GA which exists as a values-based company focused on exceptional people delivering exceptional care. They unpack Hugh's story of building this successful business, defining company values,, building a strong company culture centered around calling and purpose, how the need for hospice care has been skyrocketing in our society, and practical advice he would have for other aspiring leaders who want to put “purpose” at the core of their business. MORE ABOUT HUGH: Hugh Henderson began his hospice career in 1992 as a Counselor with a local hospice organization. After 24 years of seeing the hospice industry from all different angles and serving in various hospice leadership positions with local, regional, and national companies, Mr. Henderson decided to open Capstone Hospice in 2015. Capstone exists as a values-based company focusing on exceptional people delivering exceptional care. Mr. Henderson holds a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Karen, have been happily married for 28 years and have three children, ages 27, 24, and 21. Hugh and his family attend Perimeter Church in Johns Creek, where Mr. Henderson serves as an Elder. When not fulfilling his career-long passion for hospice, Hugh enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and watching college football (Go Dawgs!). WHAT IS A “CAPSTONE?” In architectural terms, the capstone is the final fixture put in a place on any constructed edifice-- the “crowning achievement” so to speak of a building or, in the case of a hospice patient, a lifetime. The capstone allows patients and families to put “the final stone” in place as a monument to the value and worth of the life lived by each hospice patient. The word “capstone” is also a biblical reference found in the book of Psalms (118:22). Such a reference emphasizes Capstone's values-based approach and our desire to have a positive impact on all we serve. On this episode, I chat with Hugh Henderson, a former law enforcement officer and Fire Chief on his new career in firearms at Hook, Line and Sinker. We focus on impacts of California Firearm and Ammunition laws impacting firearm enthusiasts—especially the July 1, 2019 deadline on ammunition. We also talk about promoting gun safety and what the process is like to purchase a firearm. Finally, he plugs the Hook, Line & Sinker June 21-22 customer appreciation event where I am calling it a “ammunition extravaganza” with major discounts ahead of the July 1 deadline. What happens when the people of God reject Him? Hugh Henderson picks through 1 Samuel (drawing mostly on Ch 8) to discover that when God's people come into direct conflict with the Holy Spirit, the way God judges them is to let them have their way and suffer the consequences of their actions.
