Today's Nations: Zimbabwe • Botswana • Russia • Rwanda • Bahrain • Italy Theme: Rest • Security • Peace The day has come to its gentle close. The conversations are quieter now, the work has been left behind and the night is beginning to settle around us. Even so, our minds can still be busy, revisiting today's moments or looking ahead to tomorrow. Before you close your eyes tonight, let's spend these few moments together, placing ourselves into the faithful care of the God who never stops watching over His children. Scripture (NIV) “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.” — Psalm 3:5 Heavenly Father, thank You for carrying us through this day and for remaining faithful in every moment, whether we noticed Your hand or not. Tonight we place into Your care every unfinished task, every quiet concern and every hope we have for tomorrow. Let Your peace settle gently over our hearts, our homes and those we love. Grant us restful sleep, renew our strength through the night and help us to wake with thankful hearts, confident that the same faithful God who watched over us today will welcome us into a new morning. Fear will not win, because the Lord lovingly sustains those who place their lives into His hands. May the Lord watch over you tonight, fill your home with His peace and grant you deep, refreshing rest until the morning light. Psalm 3 gives us a song for the nights when fear, regret, and accusation deny us rest. David is surrounded by enemies, burdened by the consequences of his own failures, and confronted with the devastating claim that God will no longer save him. Yet faith answers what it sees and hears with: "But you, O LORD.” Psalm 3 does not promise that our troubles will disappear; it assures us that God is our shield, glory, and the lifter of our heads.

United Kingdom • Ireland • United States • Canada • New Zealand • Singapore Rest • Trust • Renewal Good evening, and welcome to DailyPrayer.uk. As this day gently comes to its close, we pause for a moment in the presence of God before the night begins. Throughout today there have been joys to celebrate, challenges to face and quiet moments that only the Lord has fully seen. Some prayers have already found their answer, while others remain safely held within His perfect timing. Whatever this day has brought, we do not carry it into the night alone. The God who has faithfully walked beside us since the morning now lovingly invites us to place every care into His hands and receive the gift of peaceful rest. Psalm 3:5 (NIV) “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.” Heavenly Father, thank You for Your constant love and faithful care throughout this day. As we prepare to rest tonight, we place before You every concern that still lingers in our minds, every unanswered question and every burden that feels too heavy for us to carry. Lord Jesus, surround our hearts with Your perfect peace and remind us that Your watchful care never ceases. Holy Spirit, quiet every anxious thought, bring comfort to every weary soul and renew our strength as we sleep beneath the shelter of Your loving presence. Today we declare that fear will not win, because the Lord who sustains us through every hour of the day will continue to watch over us through the night. We choose to rest in Your promises, trusting that Your mercy will greet us again with the dawn and that Your grace will be sufficient for whatever tomorrow may bring. We pray for every listener joining us from the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and across the nations. May every home know Your peace, every family experience Your protection and every heart awaken tomorrow strengthened by Your unfailing love. Send us your feedback — we're listeningPsalm 3:5 — I Lay Down and Slept Live from London, England — where faith meets the world in daily prayer and global hope. Hobart • Hamilton • Singapore • Dallas • Buenos Aires REST • RENEWAL • CONFIDENCE Good evening, and welcome to DailyPrayer.uk. I'm Reverend Ben Cooper. Thank you for ending this day with me. Before the night unfolds, let's pause together, open God's Word and quietly entrust ourselves to the faithful care of God. The demands of today have now come to an end. Some moments have brought joy, others have stretched our hearts and there may still be questions waiting for tomorrow. Yet tonight, we are invited to stop striving, loosen our grip on everything we cannot control and settle into the quiet assurance that the Lord will sustain us through the night. Our rest is not earned by having a perfect day; it is received as a gift from a faithful Father. Psalm 3:5 (NIV) “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.” What a beautiful promise to carry into this evening. Every new morning is evidence of God's continuing faithfulness. While our bodies rest, He gently renews our strength, refreshes our hearts and prepares us for another day of walking with Him. We do not place our confidence in tomorrow itself; we place our confidence in the God who will be with us when tomorrow arrives. So tonight, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ faithfully sustains us through the night and lovingly awakens us with new mercy. Father, thank You for carrying us through another day. Thank You for every blessing we recognised, every kindness we received and every unseen way Your grace has sustained us when we did not even realise it. Lord Jesus, bless every listener tonight. Bring healing to those who are unwell, comfort to those who feel lonely, deep rest to weary minds and renewed strength to everyone who needs a fresh beginning tomorrow. Help us release today's efforts and receive tonight's peace with grateful hearts. Holy Spirit, renew our minds as we sleep, restore what has become weary within us and prepare us to rise with fresh confidence in Your unfailing love. Across the world, from Hobart to Hamilton, from Singapore to Dallas and Buenos Aires, may every listener rest peacefully tonight and awaken tomorrow strengthened by the sustaining grace of God. This Sunday, continued in our study of the Summer of Wisdom by studying Psalm 3. Psalm 3 is written at the time of one of the most heart-wrenching moments of King David's life: his son Absalom seeks to usurp his father's throne. David's son despises him. David's son believes David is not fit to be king. Absalom works methodically and even gains the support of some of David's closest allies to reject David as King and replace him. It's interesting that in 2 Samuel, the story of David and Bathsheba takes up only two chapters of the book (ch.11 and 12). The story of Absalom takes up six chapters (ch. 13-18). Here's the thing: David really has blown it. David didn't just blow it when he fell into sin with Bathsheba and had Uriah the Hittite murdered. David blew it as a father and a king to Absalom in the years that followed. His failings as a parent are very apparent in 2 Samuel. However, what those around him fail to see is that God's grace is greater than all David's sin. David's son and his former allies assume that because of David's sin and weaknesses that God cannot be with David. But the story of the gospel is the story of a heavenly Father who is faithful to His people even when his people fail to be faithful to Him. Our sermon this Sunday is called Grace that is Greater than All Our Sin. One of the most helpful principles that we as believers need to have when we are acutely aware of our shortcomings is that God is faithful and just to forgive those who have fallen and failed if they take refuge in Him. We hope that you will find encouragement and comfort this Sunday as we gather to worship our great and glorious God and Savior. Hope you will join us soon and that you will invite a friend.

In this pastoral approach from Psalm 3, we walk through King David's darkest night—betrayed by his own son Absalom, fleeing Jerusalem, surrounded by enemies who say "there is no salvation for him in God." Yet in the midst of sorrow, betrayal, and loss, David models a healthy way to process pain: acknowledge the struggle, turn to God with raw honesty, and abandon yourself to His mercy. This sermon tackles the lies Satan whispers when we're wounded—"God won't protect you," "You have to prove yourself," "You'll never be saved"—and shows how the Psalms give us language to fight back. We also explore the controversial topic of imprecatory psalms (prayers of cursing) and discover how to pray them as spiritual warfare in our New Testament context. Whether you've been betrayed, are battling intrusive thoughts, or feel like you're constantly protecting yourself, this message offers hope: the safest place to be is abandoned to the hands of God.
