What would we do without energy? The short answer is, “Nothing, absolutely nothing.” And sadly, most people know next to nothing about energy and its fundamental role in society and life itself. If you’ve ever tried to push a car a small distance down a street, then maybe you have some understanding. But do you know how many hours of human labor are contained in a barrel of oil? Or how much it would cost for people to do the work of a fossil-fueled machine? Or how hard a world champion cyclist has to pedal a bike to toast a single slice of Wonder Bread? In this episode of Crazy Town, Asher, Rob, and Jason look for answers as they tour the insane asylum where our energy habits reside. Great Scott! TMI have acquired the 1.21 jigawatts needed to travel back to July 1985 and add Back to the Future to our 5 Bucket List! We then discuss all things McFly. Join us - we are your density! #martymcfly #backtothefuture #docbrown #delorean #biff #georgemcfly #hellomcfly
In 1985, Robert Zemeckis co-wrote and directed Back to the Future, a movie that showed us that an old man hanging out with a high school boy doesn’t have to be creepy, especially when that boy’s mother tries to have sex with him. Made for around $19 Mil, Back to the Future grossed nearly $400 Mil worldwide, and two sequels later, this franchise grossed around $1 Bil in adjusted dollars. Not bad for a movie that saw over 30 script rewrites. But does it hold up? Listen as Jon, Colin and Paul go back in time and see if this movie is still able to harness 1.21 Jigawatts of electricity and power the flux capacitors of our brains, or if it runs out of juice and leaves us covered in manure like a couple of buttheads.
