This week, a 5 minute interview for my Saturday morning Shoreline Classics radio show, turned into a 1/2 hr podcast.I'd seen a whole bunch a stuff on social media about things the Goderich Kinette's were involved with and thought having someone over to the studio to chat about a few of those things would be a good idea.Enter, Patti Lamb, who I discovered grew up down the street from me in Goderich. We did finally get around to talking about Kinette stuff and there are some really great community things happening this Spring/Summer but we also wandered down memory lane a little, talking about where we went to school, favourite teachers a few past times and the things that led Patti to want to join a service club like the Kinettes. We talked Kinette history and Patti revealed the staggering amount of money they've raised across the country to help local communities. We also had some fun chatting about the Big Easter Egg Hunt that's coming up, the 50/50 Mega Draw, the Garage Sale and one of my all time favourite Goderich events, The Festival Arts & Crafts which is now brought to us by the Goderich Kinette Club.

Welcome back to The Not Old – Better Show! I'm your host, Paul Vogelzang, and today, we're talking about turning clutter into cash, attic junk into treasures, and maybe—just maybe—your next garage sale into a goldmine. Think about it—how many of us have boxes of old collectibles, furniture gathering dust, or a closet filled with clothes we haven't worn in a decade? Downsizing and decluttering can feel overwhelming, but what if I told you that hidden in those stacks of “stuff” could be real money—thousands of dollars just waiting to be uncovered? Well, today's guest knows exactly how to find it. Aaron LaPedis, better known as The Garage Sale Millionaire, made his first deal at age nine, flipping baseball cards and coins. By 21, he was a self-made millionaire—all from garage sales, storage auctions, and resale finds. He's spent the past 40 years uncovering hidden gems, dodging scams, and teaching everyday people how to cash in on forgotten treasures. Aaron's going to reveal the biggest mistakes people make when selling their stuff, the top five things in your home right now that could be worth serious money, and how to master the art of negotiation—whether in person or online. We'll even get into the wild world of storage unit auctions—do they live up to the TV hype? If you've ever thought about downsizing, decluttering, or making extra income in retirement, this episode is for you. So grab a pen, take notes, and get ready to see your garage, attic, and even your junk drawer in a whole new light. Now, let's welcome to the show—The Garage Sale Millionaire himself, Aaron LaPedis!

In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, host Stewart Alsop speaks with Jason Nadaf, CEO and founder of SureDone, about the evolving landscape of e-commerce, automation, and the role of AI in shaping the future of online sales. They explore how multi-channel selling has transformed over the years, the inefficiencies of big tech in commerce, and the philosophical implications of accelerationism and capitalism's efficiency. Jason shares his personal journey in building SureDone, lessons from scaling businesses, and insights into the intersection of technology and human behavior. For more on Jason's work, visit his site at SureDone.com or connect with him on Linkedin.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversation!Timestamps00:00 Introduction to the Crazy Wisdom Podcast00:13 Jason Nadaf's Vision for Sure Done01:31 The Evolution of E-commerce03:06 Building Multi-Channel Solutions07:00 Challenges in E-commerce Automation11:05 The Role of AI in E-commerce13:51 Accelerationism and Capitalism18:36 The Myth of 'Build It and They Will Come'19:01 Learning from Failed Playbooks19:58 The Role of Bureaucracy and Incentives20:57 Humanistic Energy and Potential25:14 Exploring Neurodivergence and Normies28:53 The Future of Simulation and Modeling31:12 Balancing Stress and Happiness33:42 Final Thoughts on E-commerce and Human DesireKey InsightsThe Future of E-Commerce Lies in Automation and AI – Jason Nadaf discusses how automation has already transformed e-commerce by reducing manual work, streamlining listings, and optimizing multi-channel selling. AI is the next frontier, enabling sellers to create more compelling product descriptions, analyze customer behavior, and predict trends. However, AI still struggles with generating accurate product data from raw materials, requiring human oversight.Big Tech Often Miscalculates Market Adoption – Large corporations tend to assume that building a new platform or marketplace automatically attracts users. Jason shares how two of the world's biggest tech companies underestimated the effort required to onboard sellers and drive traction, leading to delays in adoption. Success in e-commerce requires a deep understanding of seller needs, rather than relying solely on brand recognition or market dominance.Capitalism is Not as Efficient as It Could Be – While capitalism drives innovation, Jason argues that it often misallocates resources. Talent and potential don't always correlate with opportunity, meaning that some of the most innovative minds never get the funding or support they need. Bureaucracy within large corporations further slows down decision-making and stifles innovation.Diversification is Essential for Long-Term Success – Many sellers rely too heavily on a single platform, such as Amazon, without realizing how vulnerable they are to policy changes or algorithm updates. Jason emphasizes the importance of spreading risk across multiple marketplaces, search engines, and social platforms to ensure resilience against sudden disruptions. The Acceleration of Technology Will Reshape Commerce – The concept of accelerationism, which suggests that technological progress is rapidly compounding, is particularly relevant to e-commerce. AI, automation, and digital tools are evolving faster than ever, potentially leading to a future where single-person companies can rival large enterprises in efficiency and revenue.Human Intent in Commerce is Complex and Non-Uniform – A major takeaway from Jason's experience in e-commerce is that consumer intent varies widely across cultures, platforms, and product categories. A successful sales strategy on Amazon might not work on Instagram or TikTok. Understanding these nuances is key to crafting effective product listings, advertisements, and pricing models.Stress and Uncertainty Are Inevitable, But Perspective Matters – As the digital landscape evolves unpredictably, many entrepreneurs and professionals experience stress about the future. Jason suggests that while predicting the future is nearly impossible, adaptability and maintaining a clear perspective can help individuals and businesses thrive. Rather than being paralyzed by uncertainty, focusing on actionable strategies and innovation is the best way forward.
Send us a textWhat do you get when you mix Agatha Christie with Sherlock Holmes, toss in a dash of Jennifer Shannon, and top it off with a Hallmark mystery?Well, Garage Sale Mysteries: The Novel Murders, of course. The mystery series has been Andrea's favorite while Eric has been lukewarm. But with this 6 installment of the mystery series starring Lori Laughlin, Steve Bacic, Sarah Strange, and Eva Bourne, we both agreed it was a 5 out of 5 mystery. Synopsis:Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin) is a garage sale shopping expert whose sharp observation skills allow her to uncover valuable antiques, as well as help her local police department investigate crimes and solve mysteries. When an impoverished man enters Rags to Riches - a consignment shop where Jennifer sells the gems she's found at garage sales - and asks for an item home-delivered, Jennifer agrees. Upon her arrival at his run-down apartment, Jennifer finds the man murdered. As the police survey the crime scene, Jennifer cannot help but think there is something familiar about the details of the killing – and soon realizes that the victim's cold-blooded demise is a re-enactment of a murder in a classic mystery novel.Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. A painting purchased for 50 dollars at a garage sale in Minnesota that some believe is an unknown portrait by Vincent Van Gogh is tearing the art world apart. Experts with New York-based LMI Group, an art research firm, believe the Dutch artist painted the portrait during his stay at a psychiatric hospital in the south of France in 1889, and that it could be worth 15 million dollars. But some in the art world disagree. Last Friday, the Van Gogh Museum denied the painting's attribution to Van Gogh. Robert Snell, the co-owner and painting specialist at Revere Auctions in St. Paul, joined Minnesota Now to talk about the dramatic saga unfolding in the art world.

The rapid growth of eBay from 1995 on made many people rich; even so there are still an estimated 9 million garage sales in America every year, totaling roughly 2 billion dollars in unreported and untaxed income. Happy New Years and Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. My guest today is Aaron LaPedis. Aaron is known as the "Garage Sale Millionaire", because he literally financed his first business with nothing but savvy bargaining and deal hunting. He's here to share the ways you can horn in on this tax-free game, and how you can make the most doing it. It also helps to when you find yourself needing to declutter the living space, and the extra cash is a bonus. Sorry for the echo at the beginning of the interview and the internet connection issues throughout, my guest has a set up for giving recorded talks and not interviews, but I straightened the audio out as much as possible. Also, just lastly, A huge thanks to everyone down in Sacramento who made it possible to get on stage with Steve Byrne, on of my all time favorite comics. ( Www.MagicMind.Com/Dumb20 ) ( Www.TheGarageSaleMillionaire.Com ) ( Www.eBay.Com ) ( https://a.co/d/3qMpcIj will take you to: Www.Amazon.Com "How to Become a Garage Sale Millionaire: Make Money on eBay, Online Marketplaces, Auctions, and Everything in Between" ) Let's sell our junk to get rich! I'm probably the worst type of collector, because I either save my favorite things and keep them safe, or give them away to people who i know will love them. So I never make money on my collections. In other news... 2025 has begun, and here's some all new ranking for a new year: 1. England of the United Kingdom, working with Scotland to make a big statement. 2. The United States, with New York, California, and Texas out front. 3. Canada, with Ontario at a small lead. 4. Australia, with Queensland dominating the others so far. 5. Ireland, dethroning Ghana. That's it for this week! Have a great week, a great weekend, and I'll see you all back here next week for another new episode! Until the next episode, pretty please do all the things to help the show: rate, review, like, and subscribe. Reach out to DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or on any social media if you want to reach me personally. Most importantly, Stay Dumb!
