Welcome to the Addicted Mind Podcast. Today, we are delighted to bring you the wisdom and expertise of Dr. Adina Silvestri, EdD, LPC as she talks about her research on women seeking addiction treatment.Dr. Adina Silvestri is a licensed Professional Counselor in Richmond, Virginia and the founder of Life Cycles Counseling. One of her specialties is helping women that are struggling with substance abuse recover from shame to find hope and healing. In this podcast, she discussed how it is important to support women with a relational focused treatment approach as opposed to using a confrontational style. She uses the adage, “tend and befriend” when beginning substance abuse treatment for women as she has determined that style helps women decrease the stress hormone cortisol. She also discusses how it is difficult for many women to get support because they are often the primary caregivers for children. The complicated issues around finding child care to allow women to participate in substance abuse treatment add to this difficulty. Often women leave treatment early because of child care issues. This creates a consistent problem with women trying to build a recovery support network.Dr. Silvestri reports that often women are not supported by their partners when seeking help. She reports that it is common for women to be introduced to addictive substances by their partner. She states that getting treatment can often cause relationships to break down as one person seeks recovery and the other does not. This results in circumstances in which partner does not support treatment. She also found in her research that women often put off seeking treatment for approximately four years, adding to the compounding difficulty of getting recovery. Dr. Silvestri encourages all women who are struggling with this issue to reach out for help and tell somebody. Here are some topics discussed in this episode:Barriers to treatment such as child care and pregnancy.Fear of losing custody of their children.A lack of insurance and employment. How women may present differently when starting treatment. The role of shame and cultural stereotypes. The importance of relational treatment when working with women in an addiction treatment program.Domestic abuse and violence. The increased potential for sexual exploitation.Get more information:adinasilvestri.comadina@adinasilvestri.comFollow and Review: We'd love it even more if you could drop a review or 5-star rating over on Apple Podcasts. 'Minutes, Not Days': Dr. Selene Silvestri on AI Tools for Supply Chain Decision-Making "Driving the Future of Global Supply Chain Integration" —that's the motto that greets visitors to the website of MIT's Center for Transportation and Logistics in Cambridge, MA. Through research, education, and stakeholder engagement, MIT CTL doesn't merely study supply chains—they advance what's possible and turn insight into action. Our guest for this episode is Dr. Selene Silvestri, a research scientist at the MIT CTL in the Intelligent Logistics Systems Lab. Silvestri's current research addresses supply chain network design and optimization, to help companies improve decision-making in their supply chain. In Paper360°'s May/June issue, readers learn about one of the Lab's most exciting new projects: the GENESIS platform, developed in partnership with Mecalux, a warehouse technology and intralogistics software enterprise. Silvestri discusses GENESIS and much more in this engaging episode of UpTime. "What GENESIS allows you to do is solve scenarios in minutes," she tells listeners. "And if you can solve scenarios in minutes, you do not only solve those that you want to validate. You solve scenarios that you want to explore, right?" Stay tuned until the Lightning Round, when co-host Mark Rushton asks Dr. Silverstri about the biggest changes she has seen in the packaging industry over the last 10 years. Learn more about MIT's Center for Transportation and Logistics and its many specialized labs—including the Computational Analytics, Visualization & Education (CAVE) Lab that Dr. Silvestri references in this conversation.

AI doesn't have to flatten your messaging into the same forgettable copy as everyone else. In this episode, Chris Silvestri, Founder of Conversion Alchemy, discusses why B2B SaaS teams are facing a "trust recession," how weak positioning leads to churn and misaligned expectations, and why a strong point of view rooted in customer insights is now the real differentiator. Chris shares his research-first process for finding message-market fit, which includes customer interviews, competitor language analysis, and sales-call testing. He also explains how AI can be used as an input machine to deepen empathy, rather than just generate output. Additionally, he explores synthetic personas, context management, and practical ways emerging SaaS teams can validate messaging, even when customer data is limited.
Top Cow superfan, Robb returns to talk about a weird period of Top Cow history where Silvestri and crew really had nothing new to promote besides, Inferno: Hellbound, but Wizard put a magazine together anyway. Tomb Raider, Universe by Paul Jenkins and several projects that were delayed or never saw the light of day get the spotlight. Meanwhile stalwarts like Witchblade, The Darkness and Michael Turner's Fathom take a back seat. Crafty Adventures During Gabriella & Zachary's sleepover we pained and made plastic ornaments with spiraled pipe cleaners inside. So cute and easy! Knitting in Passing A cute preteen girl came over when I was crocheting on the train to ask what kind of hook I was using and then asked if I was making a stocking for Christmas. I asked if she crocheted. She said yes but didn't offer more. When she went back to the grown up she was with, they gave her a big high five. So cute. Then the gentleman across from me who saw me counting rows then asked what happened if I lose count. Told him I could read the stitches. He congratulated me onto who new addition to our family. In My Travels I shared highlights from a recent trip to New York City. I spent a wonderful morning at the MET Aida Silvestri- artist from Eritrea who had a triptych of pieces on display. Her work is motivated by social concern, but it also explores the camera's ability to connect people to a place. In these portraits of immigrant women, the artist strategically blurs her subjects' faces. This gesture, born of a need for protective anonymity, seems to evoke a greater enigma of the self. Mapping the course of migration to London are lines of thread stitched into the surfaces of the print- permanent, identity-altering interventions. Silvestri regards her series as a documentary project dedicated to those travelers who never reached their destination. Two embroidery samplers from Bostonian women from the late 1700s that were just beautiful. We visited the Chelsea Flea- I got a cool pair of earrings We got cookies from Levain Bakery We made a quick trip to Knitty City and Laura picked out yarn for a hat Musical- Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York We also saw Blue Moon at the movies. Tells the story of Lorenz Hart's struggles with alcoholism and mental health as he tries to save face during the opening of "Oklahoma!". Sandyrlevin also completed a cowl in steelers colors (note--she used a pattern by PSP Knitty Natty too)--Way to rack up those points! There's still plenty of time for you to get your projects in for Q2. These finishers have definitely demonstrated that there are plenty of patterns with at least 60 rows that work up in a flash! Desde a infância, o esporte sempre esteve presente. As Alessia explained, SEO is not just about keywords. It involves a mix of technical factors, high-quality content and building credibility through online directories and backlinks from other reputable websites.
Today we are diving into the world of digital marketing with a special focus on search engine optimization, or SEO. It is one of the most powerful and cost-effective ways to get more visibility for your business, whether it is online or a traditional company. My guest today is Alessia Silvestri, the founder and owner of Foretell Consulting, a digital marketing agency that helps small businesses grow by enhancing their online presence. With more than 20 years of experience in digital marketing, Alessia started her career in SEO and web development before expanding into pay-per-click advertising, email marketing and website design. Alessia explains what SEO is, how it works and why it is essential for small businesses today. She also shares how search engines, like Google, determine which businesses appear in search results, and what steps business owners can take to improve their chances of showing up when potential customers are searching for products or services they offer. Whether you run a campground, are recruiting Workampers for seasonal employment or operate a business from your RV, you will walk away with practical tips for making your website easier to find online. As Alessia explained, SEO is not just about keywords. It involves a mix of technical factors, high-quality content and building credibility through online directories and backlinks from other reputable websites. The good news is that there are several simple things small business owners can do right now to improve their visibility in search engines. First, make sure you have a complete and optimized Google My Business profile. Include photos, videos, accurate contact information and respond promptly to customer reviews. Post regular updates to your profile to show that your business is active and engaged. Second, create helpful content on your website that answers common questions your customers may have. Focus on being useful and authentic. That kind of content not only helps with search rankings, but also positions your business as a trusted expert. Third, take advantage of free directory listings like Bing Places, Apple Maps, Yelp and even your local chamber of commerce. Being listed in multiple online places gives Google more reasons to trust your business and helps customers find you more easily. I will also note that businesses can elevate their search rankings by being featured on podcasts, like the Workamper Show. It gives the company greater visibility and improves their authority because not every business is featured on podcasts. Finally, if you are unsure where to start or want to take your digital marketing to the next level, you can reach out to Alessia directly by visiting www.foretellconsult.com. Today's episode is sponsored by Workamper News. Much more than just a job-listing website, when you put the tools of this professional service into action, you'll find out just how easy it can be to turn your Workamping dreams into reality. A Workamper membership opens the door to a one-stop-shop for all-things Workamping. Being the original resource for Workamping, you'll find the largest number of job listings, be able to connect with a community of Workampers, and view resources compiled by experts who have been enjoying the RV lifestyle for many years. If you're serious about leading a successful and enjoyable Workamping lifestyle, then membership is for you. Join today at www.workamper.com. Embark on new adventures today with the support of Workamper News behind you! That's all for this week's show. Next time, I will be speaking with two gentlemen who are experts in RV solar solutions about how solar power can change your RVing experience. I'll have that interview on the next episode of The Workamper Show. Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy the final weeks of the summer of 2025.

We highlight two powerful voices shaping the climate conversation—Elise Silvestri, a college student and musician passionate about climate justice, and Linda Sue Park, an award-winning author using storytelling to inspire young activists. Elise, who has worked on the Citizens Climate Radio team for six months, shares her journey through eco-anxiety, activism, and music production. She believes that addressing the climate crisis requires radical imagination—envisioning the world we want to create rather than just reacting to the crises around us. Elise also introduces us to Linda Sue Park, whose latest book, Gracie Under the Waves, follows a young snorkeling enthusiast as she discovers the urgent need for ocean conservation. Facing Eco Anxiety with Imagination and Action Elise Silvestri knows firsthand the overwhelming anxiety that can come from thinking about climate change. Like many young activists, she has struggled with fears about the future, moments of paralysis, and the emotional weight of the crisis. In this episode, Elise shares how she transformed her eco-anxiety into action—first through climate organizing with the Sunrise Movement and later through audio engineering and music production. "I consider the climate crisis a crisis of imagination. We are stuck in a status quo that hangs us high and dry. We must be bold and imagine a world that we are excited to wake up in." —Elise Silvestri By blending her passion for music with climate activism, Elise has found ways to build resilience for herself and the communities she works with. From powering live sound stages with solar energy to using podcasting as a medium for climate storytelling, Elise exemplifies the power of creativity in climate advocacy. Linda Sue Park on Finding Your Climate Passion Newbery Medal-winning author Linda Sue Park joins the conversation to discuss Gracie Under the Waves, her latest book for young readers. Inspired by her love for snorkeling, the book follows Gracie's growing awareness of coral reef degradation and its broader implications for the health of our oceans. "Gracie's journey parallels my own. At first, I just wanted to snorkel. Then I realized that the coral reefs were imperiled, and I had to do something." —Linda Sue Park. Linda encourages young readers to find their own path into climate activism by connecting their passions to climate justice. Whether through art, science, writing, or community work, she believes that the most effective advocacy comes from personal investment. "There are many ways to help our planet. The most effective way is to connect it to something you already love—because then your enthusiasm is genuine, and you won't get tired of talking about it." —Linda Sue Park. Learn more: https://lindasuepark.com/ The Power of Community and Collaboration In their conversation, Elise and Linda emphasize the importance of community in climate activism. Linda notes that for too long, Western culture has celebrated rugged individualism—but collaboration is essential when it comes to the climate crisis. "For a very long time, children's books emphasized the idea of solving problems alone. But that time has passed. We are stronger when we work together." —Linda Sue Park. Elise echoes this sentiment, recalling how her work with Sunrise Movement helped her feel less alone in her climate anxiety. By finding a community, she could channel her fear into tangible action. Join the Conversation What motivates you to take climate action? How have you navigated eco-anxiety in your own life? We'd love to hear your story!
It's easy to feel defeated in the face of political challenges, but this episode shows that everyone has the capacity to create positive change and contribute to a culture of peace in their communities. In her book "Peace by Peace: Risking Public Action, Creating Social Change," Lisa Silvestri shows how ordinary people addressed issues in their communities form the West Bank to Baltimore. Silvestri found those stories through a process she calls "crowdsourcing hope" and found that deliberately seeking out peace led her to discover more and more of it. The book is grounded in the Ancient Greek virtue phronesis, which Silvestri explains in the interview. We also discuss how not all social action needs to be political — and why it might be better if it's not. After the interview, Cyanne Loyle and Candis Watts Smith discuss the power of using what frustrates you as an impetus for change, and how finding common cause can be more effective at reducing polarization than finding common ground.Silvestri is an associate teaching professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State. She likes to think, write, and speak about war, peace, politics, social justice, digital culture, democracy and civic life. She has contributed to outlets including The Washington Post andThe New York Times and has spoken at The 92nd Street Y and The South by Southwest Festival.Lisa Silvestri's websitePeace by Peace classroom guide
