Joel H. Cohen was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. In addition to writing several films, two books, and complaints to newspapers about inaccurate horoscopes, he's been a writer/producer on The Simpsons for the last 21 years. Joel has won three Emmy Awards, three Writers Guild Awards, and, one time, a glass donkey in a game of bingo.Celebrated sports commentator Dan Patrick and comedy writer Joel H. Cohen team up with some of America's greatest comedy writers to tell you everything and nothing about America's sport! “Greatest” is actually just a bad type-o for “mediocre” No, not darts; we mean pro football (book on professional darts coming never). The Occasionally Accurate Annals of Football is a love letter to America's favorite game, full of highlights, history, great plays and players, scandals, Super Bowls, and a series of lies, idiotic theories, baseless conspiracies, a diet that may kill you and, of course, a poorly-written haiku. The book takes the credibility Dan Patrick has built up over a stellar broadcast career (ESPN, NBC Sports, something called “Peacock”) and risks it all with these falsehoods, half-truths, and even some quarter-truths.This parade of inanity is co-written by Joel H. Cohen (3 Emmys, several cavities due to poor flossing) and includes contributions from certifiably hilarious people, such as:Andy Richter (Late Night with Conan O'Brien) 2. Brian Kelley (The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live) 3. Chuck Tatham (Modern Family, Arrested Development, How I 4. Met Your Mother) 5. Mike Price (The Simpsons, F is for Family) 6. Donick Cary (Silicon Valley, New Girl) 7. Christine Nangle (Inside Amy Schumer, Saturday Night Live) 8. Broti Gupta (The New Yorker, The New York Times, The 9. Simpsons) 10. Rob Cohen (Saturday Night Live, Big Bang Theory) Illustrated in two colors (black and white are colors, right?), The Occasionally Accurate Annals of Football informs (a little), entertains (a lot), and is the perfect gift to taunt the Jets fans in your life. The Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors. We also offer advertising. Cohen team up with some of America's greatest* comedy writers to tell you everything and nothing about America's sport!** *“greatest” is actually just a bad type-o for “mediocre” **No, not darts, we mean pro football. (book on professional darts coming never) Did you know . . . Tom Brady is a very good quarterback. (True, but only according to statistics and accomplishments.) The formation of the NFL took place in an auto dealership. The founders started an institution and also were convinced to buy rust-proofing for it. (Half true.) The Carolina Panthers originated as a book club but turned to football when they couldn't agree on which John Grisham novel to read. (Maybe true. Research isn't our thing.) Bryan and Peter interview co-executive producer and writer for The Simpsons Joel H. Cohen. His new book How to Lose a Marathon: A Starter’s Guide to Finishing in 26.2 Chapters hilariously chronicles how he trained for and ran the NYC Marathon in 2013. Plus, Peter hates his GPS watch and Bryan experiences terrible long runs. Stretch out your “crinkly toes” and come listen in! Joel H. Cohen is a Canadian writer who has written for Saturday Night Live, Suddenly Susan and The Simpsons. He penned the famous season three episode of "Flaming Moe's." Joel received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988 from the University of Alberta. He was born in Calgary. Outside of writing for "The Simpsons", he's also the author of the best-selling book "How to Lose a Marathon" — a hilarious retelling of Joel's training for and running the NY Marathon. In this episode, we discuss: 2013 NYC Marathon…the documentation Getting off the couch (an idiots guide) Post-Marathon contemplation…what just happened? How to keep going? Inspirations Self Reflection, what did I learn about this process? How to prepare for the marathon. What is the next challenge? Time travel and sculling and coxswains (pronounced cock son!) Joel H. Cohen—writer/producer for The Simpsons, winner of two Emmy Awards and three Writers Guild Awards, author of "How to Lose a Marathon"—joins James Rogers on Hooray Run Podcast. "How to Lose a Marathon" is Cohen's first book, and it reveals his transformation from an out-of-shape slob to a slightly out-of-shape slob who finished the 2013 New York City Marathon. Self-deprecating humor and museum-worthy stick drawings fill this page-turner, and Cohen calls it a running book he wishes he could have read as a person who knew absolutely nothing about this ambitious pursuit. Cohen's writing holds inspiration. He makes it clear that if he can tackle 26.2 miles, then you can. James and Joel cover many topics, including what made the "lazy lump with more chins than trophies" even consider running a marathon, the learning curves involved with training/racing, how Oprah inspired his debut marathon, writing for The Simpsons and if he reads his online book reviews.
