SEASON 3 EPISODE 142: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: The only “scum” here is Trump and the only thing that’s been “obliterated” is America’s reputation. We have now descended to that level of hell in which the entire purpose of the government of the United States is to say and shout and lie so loudly and so often that the insane, deteriorating, mentally-dissolving, international joke that IS the current president doesn’t yell at the fools and whores who work for him. He has now gotten the government of Israel to lie for him about his attack on Iran; he has now gotten his own government to issue assessments that not only completely contradict YESTERDAY’S assessments but completely contradict his OWN assessments; he has now gotten his own Director of National Intelligence – presumably under threat of being fired – to cherry-pick SOMEBODY’S intelligence, maybe ours, maybe Qatar’s, maybe Joe Rogan’s, who knows – and insist that it is NEW and it confirms his obsession that everybody in the country, everybody in the world, everybody in the universe, everybody YET TO BE BORN, agree with him that Iran’s nuclear capacity is quote “obliterated” and for all time and forever and no arguments and it’s the greatest military success since Hiroshima and Nagasaki and don’t you dare say otherwise, don’t you dare say inconclusive obliterated obliterated obliterated. Except that 24 hours ago Trump said… inconclusive. THERE ARE SEVERAL SIDEBARS to Zohran Mamdani’s startling first-round win in the Democratic primary for mayor here in Fun City. First: the tepidness of national Democratic support for him. Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and the rest of the gerontocracy better shape up fast because Mamdani won the MIDDLE class by doing the two things you idiots refused to even try to do last year: combine concern for the financial crushing OF the middle class, AND standing up for what’s right in the country and the world, including opposing Trump and ICE and punishing corrupt political cynics like Andrew Cuomo. The hesitation can only open an avenue for Eric Adams to whore himself out as a pro-business "centrist" who will be Trump's tool. B-Block (27:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Larry Ellison and my old ex-friend Jeff "You Should've Known I Was Lying To You" Shell have a plan for CBS News: more Bari Weiss. The one time we could've used propaganda and Voice of America in Iran, Kari Lake made sure we were off the air. And it's so easy to miss and to minimize, but Trump went full gay-bashing this week. Silence is compliance. C-Block (37:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Now that I'm with my fifth different network just doing baseball games (FanDuel Sports) it's a good time to revisit my departure from my first. A scant 28 years ago this month I left ESPN - but we came thisclose to keeping the relationship going just enough to continue the Sunday SportsCenter.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The so-called "Religious Liberty Commission," born under Trump, isn't about freedom; it's a brazen power grab cloaked in piety. This Washington D.C. gathering, a veritable who's who of the Christian right, from Dan Patrick to Dr. Phil (?), convened to lament America's perceived lack of Christianity. But behind the hand-wringing, a sinister agenda brews: to enforce a Christian nationalist vision, silencing dissent and rewriting the rules to their liking. This episode rips the mask off this charade, exposing the commission's blatant disregard for anyone outside their narrow religious circle. Witnesses like Fish Stark and Rachel Laser reveal a rhetoric of conspiracy and persecution, as these self-proclaimed victims twist reality to fit their narrative. We see this play out in Ohio, where the Center for Christian Virtue pushes a budget that betrays true Christian values, slashing funds for the vulnerable while advancing an anti-abortion crusade. From Ohio's voucher programs to Tennessee's assault on trans youth healthcare, the episode lays bare the consequences of weaponized religious fervor. It's a fight for the soul of America, a battle against those who would twist religious freedom into a tool of oppression. This isn't about faith; it's about control, and it's time we call it what it is.Full Show Notes & Links UsedSend us a textSupport the showSubscribe to our free newsletterCheck out our MerchFollow us on BlueskyFind us on Twitter(for now) Find us on InstagramFind us on Counter SocialFind us on Mastadon

On Tuesday's show: After Gov. Greg Abbott vetoed the proposed ban on THC passed by the legislature, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick held a press conference Monday to discuss the move, which killed one of his top legislative priorities from the session. In issuing his eleventh-hour veto, the governor called the THC bill "well-intentioned" and said the hemp market needs to be regulated immediately. That's why he's calling lawmakers back to Austin for a special session. We learn more about this rare split between the governor, state lawmakers, and the lieutenant governor. Also this hour: Houston is a city of contrasts, where neighborhoods sometimes sit side by side yet remain worlds apart. That case can be made for East Houston and West Houston. How divided is our city, and who are the ones defining the east side? Then, we discuss the cause of and the fallout from long delays in recycling pickup around the city. And we learn about Lullabies and Chaos, an organization turning baby showers into lifelines for expectant mothers and fathers who are facing tough times.
Gov. Greg Abbott just before the midnight deadline Sunday vetoed a bill on THC products and said he would call a special legislative session to regulate products containing the substance, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The veto angered the bill's chief champion, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The governor's decision was being closely watched by both supporters of the bill, including law enforcement, and opponents, the latter of which included those in the hemp industry, libertarian conservatives, and veterans' groups. The veto came about 30 minutes before the midnight deadline. “At worst, Senate Bill 3 would be permanently invalidated by the courts,”...Article Link

Gio believes the animosity is directed at the fan base, not players like Jalen Brunson or Mikal Bridges. Jerry provided an update, starting with Juan Soto's explanation for his slow hustle on a ball hit off the Green Monster. The "All The Smoke" podcast reportedly dislikes the Knicks due to their fans, though Brian Windhorst on the Dan Patrick show highlighted the Knicks reaching the finals, especially the Brunson storyline, as compelling. Calls poured in discussing Soto's struggles and attitude. Boomer also contrasted Caitlyn Clark as a "needle mover" with Soto as a "negative needle mover." Jerry then played audio of Pete Alonso's errant throw to Senga, and Frank The Tank had another outburst after the Mets' loss. The segment concluded with a cameraman from the Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers," sparking Gio's desire to witness a tornado.
