Welcome in to the Friday Refresh brought you you by the Adventures of Ben and Travis and the WorryCoaster children's book. Written by myself and Travis Creasy and expertly illustrated by our friend and brother, Jacob Hennigan. It is a feel good story of how to overcome anxiety and fear with a section in the back for parents, youth workers and teachers with helpful hints to keep the conversation going. Go to BenandTravis.com/books for more information. Challenge Youth Conference (www.cyconline.com) weekend is back again. For over 25 years this conference has taken place in the Smoky Mountains. For many years now it has been in the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge and there have been close to 14,000 attendees some years. Our congregation will have over 40 in attendance this weekend and other congregations will have 100. Travis and I get to do some crazy activities and videos to get the event started and then we also participate in S.W.A.T. (Skits With A Truth) team. Most people who have attended, whether adults or teenagers, have found the weekend to be encouraging in their faith and they often leaved challenged to live a bold life for Christ. The speakers this year include Chris Miller, Lonnie Jones, Brad Montague, Craig Evans, and David Shannon. All men who will challenge listeners to live to a higher standard. The theme this year is Look Up! An easily relatable theme when in the smokies mountains of East Tennessee. Today is a BIG day for David and Leslie. It's their 25th anniversary! Since this episode falls directly on their big silver anniversary, they thought it would be fun to chat about some things we've discovered since we got married and to share some practical takeaways that we hope will be insightful and helpful for you no matter what year of marriage you're on. This episode is heavy on practical insight from two imperfect people who've grown to love each other more with each passing year by the grace of God. Pigeon Forge is just weeks away! We will be there May 3-6 at the LeConte Center with thousands of other homeschoolers, speakers, authors, and curriculum providers. There really is no better place to get equipped and encouraged in your homeschool journey than at Teach Them Diligently, but TTD events are so much more than just homeschool conferences. In this On the Move: Extra Lap, sponsored by Mecum Auto Transport powered by McAllister's, Matt is on the horn with Owner and Promoter of the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion Justin Murray. The annual event, now in its ninth season, has Jeeps coming from far and wide to take over the beautiful and scenic town of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for this one-of-a-kind celebration of the iconic and storied off-roader. Matt wants to find out how this massive gathering all got started and has a barrage of questions. Justin goes back to the beginning, telling of how two regional Jeep clubs had the idea for this type of bash and how they set about putting it in motion. He also relays the origin for the on-site Expo, a showcase of the latest Jeep products, accessories and modifications from top manufacturers. With such a passionate and knowledgeable enthusiast on the line, Matt gets Justin to weigh in on his thoughts on pressing Jeep questions like how the iconic Wrangler continues to gain favor and adoration around the world and how the Jeep community is embracing the latest electric technology with new additions like the plug-in hybrid 2021 Wrangler 4xe. The 2021 9th Annual Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion will also feature the Mecum Mobile Experience when it takes place August 26-28 at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge. Episode Notes Notes go hereHey there. This week’s lesson was not presented at Polishing the Pulpit, but at the Great Smoky Mountain Marriage Retreat that we host each year. In addition to the practical teaching, we featured this lesson today to promote this year’s upcoming retreat. It’s in about 4 weeks, and it’s held at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, TN. Since it’s 6 months away from PTP, many people see it as a “mid-year mini PTP” with a focus on marriage, family, and parenting issues. We do hope you’ll join us this year. Most couples can attend the retreat for around $500, and it is a great mini-vacation that will enrich your family for years to come. You can learn more about the retreat at [smokymountainmarriage.com] (https://smokymountainmarriage.com) or send an email to [wes@polishingthepulpit.com.] (mailto:wes@polishingthepulpit.com)
