Jimmy and Tyler sit down with James, the International Distributor for Carbon Off-Road — a 10-year-old Australian winch and recovery gear company quietly making a lot of noise in a space dominated by legacy brands. James is a Kiwi who grew up on farms in New Zealand’s Taranaki region before moving to Australia 22 years ago. He found off-roading the same way a lot of adults do: by needing friends and buying a Suzuki. He joined a Suzuki club, met Carbon founder Dan through those connections before Carbon even existed, and eventually joined the company. Now he’s traveling the US in what Tyler accurately describes as a “homeless American gypsy” role — meeting wheelers, attending grassroots events, and slowly building the Carbon Off-Road name in the US market. He stopped in Sacramento on a layover to come on the show, having spent a week with Jimmy and Tyler at Trail Hero Expeditions. Carbon’s pitch is three words: lighter, faster, stronger. Their 12,000 lb flagship is the lightest 12K winch in the world — just under 58 lbs fully installed, aluminum housing, 480 amp max current draw, lifetime mechanical warranty on the gearbox, 5-year electrical on the motor and control box. It retails at $899 USD. The RS9 is their race-spec winch — 9,000 lb capacity, 80 feet per minute unloaded, and James jokes it should come with a parental advisory sticker because it will unspool 78 feet of spectra fiber rope in about a minute if you don’t have tension on the line. On the recovery gear side: Carbon just launched a full lineup available in three colorways — High Viz (orange, commercial/heavy equipment), Blue, and Tactical (so popular it exceeded all expectations). Their Essential Recovery Kit ($349 USD) includes soft shackles, kinetic rope, tree saver, recovery ring, gloves, and a bag that doubles as a winch blanket. The Tac 4×4 Kit ($599 USD) upgrades to spectra-fiber soft shackles rated at 18,000 kg working load limit, adds a utility rope (replaces the tree saver — works as a bridle, rock anchor, winch extension, or general purpose rope), and comes in a MOLLE-style bag. Everything is designed in-house in Australia, third-party tested to minimum breaking strength, and not white-labeled — James is emphatic about this. The show also covers: Carbon’s 10th anniversary camping weekend at Black Duck Valley (120 vehicles showed up despite two weeks of rain), what it’s like trying to sell winches at a trade show for 14 hours in a row, why James hasn’t been able to drive his own trailer-queen Suzuki Sierra much lately, King of the Hammers 2026 (“we saw a lot of winches stalling out — caveat: none of ours”), the Australia/New Zealand land access crisis vs. US land access fights, and why the name Carbon has nothing to do with carbon fiber. Bonus content includes the full Australia ongoing-topics segment: Vegemite vs. Marmite (James sides with Marmite, the New Zealand version), camping vs. glamping (coffee machine in the tent = crossed the line), and the fanny pack question that previously required Australian listeners to call in and educate Jimmy about what the word “fanny” actually means. James’s closing advice: In a recovery situation, don’t rush it. Take a breath, assess, and figure out how to do it safely. Injuries, redshirts, and getting passed over are not glitches in the system. They are the system. The athletes who last are the ones who stay, compete, and keep showing up when every excuse says walk away.Welcome to Oak Performance Radio, where we talk about what it really takes to perform at a high level. The show looks at training, preparation, and decision-making through real athletes, coaches, and experiences, on and off the field.Episode HighlightsIn today's episode, Adam Lane sits down with Division II right side Molle Hobson and outside hitter Bree Messenger to get brutally honest about college volleyball. They walk through double ACL tears, redshirting, losing a spot to a fifth year, and why they stayed instead of jumping in the transfer portal. They break down the real difference between Division I and Division II, how coaching communication and team culture decide your experience, and what recruits and parents need to be asking before they commit anywhere.Episode OutlineIntroduction and Host WelcomeBrie's Injury and College ExperienceMolle's College Experience and RedshirtingTeam Dynamics and Recruiting AdviceChallenges and Lessons LearnedAdvice for Future AthletesFinal Thoughts and Future PlansEpisode Chapters00:00 Intro00:27 Meet Molle and Bree01:49 Molly's path to St. Cloud State02:52 Bree's VC United and UCM journey04:02 Senior year ACL tear and missed freshman season06:48 Second ACL tear and rebuilding identity08:53 Finding value while injured and on the sideline11:46 What injury taught Bree about leadership17:16 Molle's redshirt year and mental battles20:32 Losing the spot to a fifth year and handling it28:45 D1 vs D2 reality and choosing the right fit40:01 How to evaluate coaches, teams, and social media55:40 Adam's message on the weight room and no regrets1:00:27 Where to follow Molle and BreeConclusionMolle and Bree show what happens when you do not get the clean, straight line you pictured. Their path has included surgeries, sitting, and hard coaching decisions, but they stayed, asked for honest feedback, and kept doing the work. The big takeaway is simple: pick an environment where you are coached as a person, stay accountable for your effort in the gym and on the court, and be willing to fight for your spot without bailing the second it gets uncomfortable.Action TakenBree returns from two ACL reconstructions, gets fully cleared, and commits to attacking a real on court season instead of letting injuries write the ending.Molle heads into her junior year ready to fight for the right side spot after sitting behind a fifth year, with clear feedback from her coach on where she stands. Both athletes commit to:Staying at programs where they are known as people, not just numbers.Owning their role, even when that role is injured, redshirted, or benched. For athletes and parents, they outline concrete steps:Ask direct questions on visits about playing time, communication, and how coaches handle injuries.Spend time stalking rosters and social media to see how the team actually lives, trains, and treats each other.Stop chasing the D1 label and chase the right fit, culture, and staff.Adam reinforces:If you skip the weight room, you are choosing to leave performance and durability on the table.Training, sleep, and taking care of your body are part of your job, not extras.CTASubscribe to Oak Performance Radio and share this with a player or parent who is in the middle of recruiting and needs a straight answer about D1 vs D2.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oakperformancelabInstagram: @oakperformanceConnect with Molle and Bree:@breemessenger44@mollie.hobson Thank you for listening to Oak Performance Radio. Use code AGENCY171 DEAR WLS Question from JackB from TX On double tap 451 Nick said he would know he was successful when he ordered a custom double rifle. I always say something similar, which is if I win the lottery I'm telling no one, but there would be signs. Like the sudden acquisition of a custom double rifle. My first question is, if the cast were going to order custom double rifles, what caliber would you choose? If Shawn wants to make H&H invent a 171 WLS for him, that's dope, but what would your second choice be? Followup question to help me choose my caliber. If I got one, I'd want one of the classic elephant gun Calibers. I love 45-70 but it just wouldn seem right. So of those old safari calibers which ones have milder recoil and are still somewhat commercially available? -JackB Question from Jaqin Ta'Sox from Connecticut From: Jaqin Ta'Sox: Dear WLS In double tap 451 at 19:58 minutes, someone asks about deadly force against a bull horn to the ear. I understand an ass whoopin is absolutely due in that situation, BUT I find it kind of interesting. Like Jerambey said, it is permanent bodily harm. Just like if someone tries to use a laser pointer to blind you, deadly force is a go, but not for permanent hearing loss? Question from Anonymous Coward from Texas What is the best way to form 1 a homemade suppressor? Looking at mostly finger printing that can be reused. But also looking at design requirements like length and such. Question from Duke from Texas Duke of CrudeSo I was crusing Armslist looking for some travel guns and came across a mosin nagant for $495. I had an epiphany over that post. What if the mosin was worth the same but inflation was just so terrible that now a $95 dollar gun in 2002 is $495 dollars today? Just some food for thought before AI takes over. Thanks for the laughs! Duke Question from Anonymous Coward from Washington Shawn has been on a geeky mission for a while. I am wondering if he can geek out and make a universal shopping cart that using his web crawler A/I skills could check multiple sites to see if products are available from one source. Example I am ordering some area 419 products, a few CZ mags and a kydex cheek riser. I am bound to pay shipping from 3 separate sites. I am trying to see if there is one source carrying what I need. Keep up the good work Shawn getting deeper back into his tech roots but staying a gun guy at heart is bringing rewards for all of us. GUN INDUSTRY NEWS THEFIREARMBLOG.COM Edgar Sherman Design Notch Precision Shooting Bag Shooting bags don't exactly get a lot of innovation press. The category has been dominated by the same handful of designs for years, and for good reason: a well-executed bag filled with the right material and wrapped in grippy fabric solves most problems a precision shooter will ever encounter on a stage or in the field.New entrants that bring something genuinely different to that conversation are rare enough to be worth paying attention to when they show up. Edgar Sherman Design released the Notch Precision Shooting Bag, a convertible front/rear support bag featuring a four-way stretch woven core that deforms for micro-adjustments, wrapped in a Cordura laminate exoskeleton with MOLLE cutouts. It incorporates a V-shaped notch formed by tie-down loops for rifle stock capture and lateral stability, PVC-coated grip surfaces, an elastic retention loop, and Spexlite 5125 fill. The bag is made in the USA, Berry compliant on select versions, weighs 8.5 oz, and measures 3 × 4.5 × 8.75 inches.

The Spring Election is two short weeks away and on today's show, host Douglas Haynes is in conversation with Madison Metropolitan School District School Board Seat 6 Candidates, challenger Daniella Molle and incumbent Blair Mosner Feltham. They speak about their priorities for the school district, how they would address opportunity gaps, safe learning environments, public funding for schools, student enrollment in the district, and more. School Board Seat 6 Candidate: Daniella Molle Danielle Molle's educational journey began in public schools in Bulgaria before she attended public universities in the US. She has worked as an education researcher for 15 years with an emphasis on the needs of multilingual students. For the past five years, she has worked as a research partner to districts across the country that are changing their systems to advance equity in schools. Molle says there hasn't been someone on the School Board with a background in language development; and in a district where a quarter of the students are bilingual, the School Board needs to understand their experience. She is concerned about the adoption of new math and literacy curriculums and how they would address opportunity gaps. She also discusses her perspective on restorative justice practices and ballot referenda. Daniella Molle is an education researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has two children in the Madison schools, one at Hamilton Middle School and one at West High School. She volunteers weekly in a math classroom at Cherokee High School, and is a parent representative on the district’s Advanced Learning Advisory Committee. Professionally, she worked with Madison teachers for a decade as a researcher and as a teacher supervisor. Featured image of Daniella Molle. School Board Seat 6 Candidate: Blair Mosner Feltham Blair Mosner Feltham has been a teacher since 2010 and says you can't produce curriculum unless you've been in the classroom. She wants to keep her seat on the School Board so she can see her vision of a stable future for the district in practice. She is the first Board member to run for reelection to Seat 6 in more than 10 years. Mosner Feltham says the district needs collaboration with political leadership to address opportunity gaps. The school district provides transportation and food banks, but she wants to think bigger about how affordable housing and healthcare are other barriers that affect students' opportunities. Recently, she worked with the School Board to pass a resolution to advance safe firearm storage. She also discusses student cell phone use and state funding formulas. Blair Mosner Feltham is a classroom teacher, a mom to two MMSD students, and has been serving on the MMSD Board of Education since 2023. She is the only serving Board member and the only candidate who is a public school teacher. Over the last 15 years, she has taught in public schools in 4 districts and two states, including for 7 years in MMSD, mostly at West High School, where she also served as a union rep for many years. This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: C&G Holsters (Code: WLSISLIFE) Midwest Industries (Code: WLSISLIFE) Blue Alpha Bowers Group (Code: WLS) Otis Technology (Code: WELIKESHOOTING15) Guests: Jon Patton – https://guncon.net – NILES, OH BIG PUBLIC SHOW DAY JUNE 20th, 2026 Industry/VIP Events JUNE 17-20, 2026 Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 Public https://welikeshooting.com/titles/ Dear WLS Question from Anonymous Coward from California WINNER People are looking at the ICE shooting all wro6vng. This is not a First Amendment issue. He wasn't peacefully protesting. There is plenty of video showing him actively blocking ICE vehicles before the shooting. That matters. This is also not a Second Amendment issue. He wasn't walking down the street, minding his business, and accidentally flashing a concealed carry gun. He was in direct physical conflict with law enforcement while armed. According to reporting, he had allegedly been “on duty” the week before, tracking ICE, and had been taken to the ground by agents, injuring his ribs. This time, when he went back “on duty,” he brought a gun. I understand why people instinctively hesitate to side with federal law enforcement. I really do. But if we're being honest, this situation demands a clear-eyed assessment—not emotional reflexes or ideological posturing. If the political alignment were reversed—if this were someone at a protest you agreed with—would you still argue the outcome was justified? In this case, my answer is still yes, the individual was at fault, regardless of ideology. As gun owners, we talk constantly about personal responsibility. That responsibility includes knowing what situations you do not escalate, especially when armed. A fight you cannot win is a fight against law enforcement officers when you are carrying a firearm. The moment you insert yourself into a physical confrontation with LEOs while armed, you are the one escalating the situation. Everyone knows this. This is not new. You are not going to win a solo fight against law enforcement. Period. Question from Jaqin Ta'Sox from Connecticut From; Jaqin Ta'Sox: Dear WLS Man. Sorry. The 646 episode got me fired up. In regards to Nick at time stamp 108 minutes. ICE doesn't need warrants to arrest illegal immigrants, because all of the people they are looking for are here illegally and 100% have another type of Law Enforcement Interaction (dwi, domestic violence, etc.) The illegals that don't have other Law Enforcement Interaction are usually collateral arrests, because ICE goes looking for 1 and find 12 together. As far as the US Citizens that interact with ICE, yes they are 99% detained and released upon verification of status. The 1% that are arrested/hurt are the people who escalate the Interaction instead of cooperating, like Jeremy said. Question from Anonymous Coward from California Question for double tap I've noticed that Jeremy is a lot calmer now that Aaron has been gone is that a coincidence or does Aaron just drive him that crazy? Question from Sean's Weight Loss Coach from Pennsylvania Question for Double Tap: With the new Ruger/Marlin 1894 in 10mm and the Taylor's 1873 Winchester clone in 9mm it got me thinking – what changes are needed to handle the rimless cartridges vs the more traditional rimmed cartridges that lever guns of this style are more commonly chambered for? Extractor change on the bolt? Chamber cut to control headspace with the cartridge mouth instead of the rim? Why has it taken this long for traditional lever guns like these to be chambered in rimless cartridges? Most sincerely, Sean's Weight Loss Coach Question from Anonymous Coward from California For double tap This question is mainly for Jeremy since he he sounds like he has the most experience with the XD line from SA. I have an XD.40 what parts should I expect to replace first and how often should I be cleaning it because I've heard mixed opinions on cleaning firearms? Question from LieutenantRand from Michigan LieutenantRand Are power lines higher in Africa? Or are there cases of giraffes being electrocuted? Question from Typicalpnwguy from Washington Dear wls crew, At the end of DT 447 Jeremy said to “go fuck yourself” so I did. Apparently its wrong for me to do so at a customer's house while doing deliveries. Now Im fired, wife left me, my dog found another hooman, and all I have is my pvs14 & mk18 cqbr blaster. Since Jeremy got me fired & divorced can I move in with you and get a job at the range? I promise to shit on Aaron every chance I get. Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 - Dear WLS Dependable Don - So what holsters do you run with your fanny pack? I got the qilo prison wallet which is Velcro backed so crossbreed has holsters that work but not crazy about it. Switch to a blapha or are Velcro backed holsters acceptable? Adam W - I am looking for a red dot that can stand up to a .357 magnum Chippa Rhino. I have put 2 other dots on it I had laying around and now I just want one I don't have worry about. I was thinking the Judge XL from Gideon. Would this be a good choice? The use case for this gun is local matches and range toy. Also, I am looking for a holster for this setup. The Chippa Rhino is the 60ds model with the pic rail in front of the cylinder. Your help is much appreciated. Scanks Adam Luis G - I am in Florida and do a lot of lake bank fishing. What would be a good caliber to carry and what type of rounds to use against alligators? Should I run a couple of snake shot rounds first for moccasins then the gator rounds? Jack B - Matt diniman just did a kickstarter campaign where 2 of the reward tiers included getting killed in a future DCC book. If you were get this prize for another cast member, which option would you choose and how would they die? Option, They are a crawler who gets killed. Option 2, They are a monster or NPC that gets killed by Donut and T-bagged by mongo. Ny(e)gerski - "This one is mostly for Mr. Saggins. Scroto, what are you signed up to hunt this year? I feel like we haven't had any 47 minute long hunting stories in a while and are due for one or 2. P.S.....are you sure you and Kevin from Q aren't kindred spirits?.....I can't tell who tells longer hunting stories... Pee Pee S.....i had something for here, but forgot....and now got you to say pee pee...." Eli K - I am building a new house soon. It will have a vault room in the basement. The floor, ceiling, and all four walls will be poured concrete. Other than that, I'm leaving it unfinished after framing and insulation, and I will take it form there. It will have HVAC and electrical available. What else should I do? Seems like a good idea to put a drain in. I'm tentatively planning to do Lockdown walls. Anything other suggestions? Jerry F - Do either of you guys have any idea where i can find Accurate Nitro 100NF for sale? I've been checking all of the reputable dealers online (Brownells, Midway usa, ammoseek etc) and I haven't been able to find any 4 or 8lb bottles all summer. I shoot trap every weekend with my dad and our local league just started and I commonly go through a hundred plus rounds each weekend. I believe accurate is a division of Hodgdens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And in your opinions where is all the powder going? Love the show, thank you. Jeremy is not a cunt, he just doesn't have any patience for stupidity. John J - I've recently realized I'm a fan of both Jeremy and Aaron. Which probably means I'm either deeply complex, or there's something wrong with me. Thoughts? Also, would love to see some more Dangerous Freedom videos. I am looking forward to the red dot - magnifier comparison. One of my AR's has a CompM5 with a 3x magnifier. I want to love it for what the combo cost, but I find myself removing the magnifier more often than not. Thanks for the show. The winner of this week's swag pack is John J! In this episode, April sits down with Bob Molle—Olympic wrestler, two-time Grey Cup champion, and leadership coach—to explore what it really takes to perform when it matters most. From bouncing back after back surgery to building a consulting empire, Bob reveals how embracing discomfort is the secret weapon behind sustained success. April pushes deep into his mindset—probing for imposter syndrome, fear, and identity loss—but what she uncovers is a man grounded in presence and possibility. What You'll Learn: How to turn physical and emotional “shock” into transformation Why high performers don't fear failure—they reframe it How resilience isn't inherited, it's chosen Tools Bob uses to coach elite performers under pressure The difference between being average and deciding you're not Key Quotes: “You don't graduate from hardship—you reframe it.” “We're not average. And you don't have to be either.” “Shock is the starting point of your evolution.” Actionable Takeaways: Reframe your past losses as learning experiences Stay where your feet are—practice being in the moment Make the decision today that you are not average In shock moments, ask: What is this here to teach me? Choose evidence that empowers you, not weakens you Bob's story is a lesson in grit, clarity, and redefining what's possible. Whether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, or just someone standing in your own way, this episode shows what happens when you get comfortable being uncomfortable. --------- Want to be part of a transformative experience for entrepreneurs and leaders?

Shawn - Mischief Machine Unleashed Mischief Machine Fuse Savage - Meshtastic - Toxic relationship Bullet Points Shawn - Recoil Tech Made Simple Foxtrot Mike clear up - Shawn, the RMb has some reciprocating mass, and a surprisingly complex design that affects recoil in 2 ways. ,When the mass of a pcc moves all the way rearward and the buffer smacks the end of the buffer tube, there is a mechanism that compresses with a heavy weight spring, and inside the buffer, it terminates against a high durometer urethane puck inside the buffer.,For the other end of the recoil stroke, there is reciprocating mass that helps keep the bolt in battery, and is there to overcome bolt bounce. As you add mass (its 9.5 ozs so lil on heavy side), recoil goes down, at the cost of bolt bounce.,I'd love to send you all a couple samples if you want to check them out? ,RMB:,https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/13d43336-a442-4018-837f-c269dde4cede,Maybe a VFM-9 upper (on sale now for $239)?,https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/0bd2ba31-3579-4569-b070-e8b453d1b778,https://store.fm-products.com/products/fm-products-5397-1463b865-bbbc-4aed-be84-60f5c638509d,This is new, our Foldyboi (on sale now for $399 w RMB buffer):,https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/fddc398f-49b3-41ef-9f84-8de727349b77,https://store.fm-products.com/products/fm-products-foldyboi-lwr-rmb-5397 Shawn - Soft Body Armor Trends and Insights The article discusses the growing popularity of Level IIIA tactical vests for civilian use, particularly for emergency and home defense situations due to their lightweight and concealable design.
