Welcome in to the Friday Refresh brought you you by the Adventures of Ben and Travis and the WorryCoaster children's book. Written by myself and Travis Creasy and expertly illustrated by our friend and brother, Jacob Hennigan. It is a feel good story of how to overcome anxiety and fear with a section in the back for parents, youth workers and teachers with helpful hints to keep the conversation going. Go to BenandTravis.com/books for more information. Challenge Youth Conference (www.cyconline.com) weekend is back again. For over 25 years this conference has taken place in the Smoky Mountains. For many years now it has been in the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge and there have been close to 14,000 attendees some years. Our congregation will have over 40 in attendance this weekend and other congregations will have 100. Travis and I get to do some crazy activities and videos to get the event started and then we also participate in S.W.A.T. (Skits With A Truth) team. Most people who have attended, whether adults or teenagers, have found the weekend to be encouraging in their faith and they often leaved challenged to live a bold life for Christ. The speakers this year include Chris Miller, Lonnie Jones, Brad Montague, Craig Evans, and David Shannon. All men who will challenge listeners to live to a higher standard. The theme this year is Look Up! An easily relatable theme when in the smokies mountains of East Tennessee. David is joined this week by Darren Doane and David Shannon of the Doane Creative Agency for a lengthy, thorough, and challenging talk. They discuss business, technology, social media, and the tension between conserving the lessons of the past and moving into the opportunities of the future. It is perhaps the most provocative episode of Capital Record ever.

It's officially the 25th anniversary of No, David! by David Shannon and in celebration Betsy decided to do the second "David" book in the series. Having previously done No, David! before, Betsy figured that the sequel was the right way to go with today's episode. Kate, for her part, experiences a curious form of amnesia, capable of remembering the recording of Shannon's A Bad Case of Stripes, but not the first David book. In that sense she's the perfect person to read this book, unencumbered by memories of its predecessor. DAVID, 10min,. Canada Directed by Matthew Forbes Based on a true story, “David” follows the life of an openly gay HIV/AIDS activist at the peak of that nightmare pandemic, dividing his time between fighting for justice in an openly homophobic society and helping a total stranger as the virus takes his life away. Tight, compact and full of passion, “David” shows a contrast of terrible, deadly hatred and the incredible compassion that can blossom despite the hatred, if we let it. https://davidshort.film/ Get to know the filmmaker: A had a friend named David Shannon. I knew him to be a charming, funny, sweet writer/journalist. When he passed in 2018 (aged only 56), it was only at his wake did someone mention in passing that during the HIV/AIDS crisis of the 80s and 90s, he provided care and companionship to patients who had been ostracized by family and friends after being forced out of the closet by their diagnosis. David had never spoken of this; it was only near the end of his life that he mentioned it to his brother. I felt this was a story that deserved to be told. Research was difficult, as he had told no one about it, so I crafted a short script that distilled the experience into a compact story. To our amazement we have somehow never done this particular David Shannon book before. Tis possible? Tis! It is, as Kate says, "The trippiest book," which is part of why Betsy respects it. Betsy freaks out over the fact that this came out the same year as No, David (how often does an author/illustrator have two classic books come out in the same year?). Meanwhile Kate freaks out over the creepy guys lurking on this poor girl's lawn. But the important thing? We debate whether or not you can buy lima beans in cans anymore. Your votes on the matter are much needed. For the full Show Notes please visit: https://afuse8production.slj.com/2023/03/20/fuse-8-n-kate-a-bad-case-of-stripes-by-david-shannon/

From Algonquin Indian folklore comes one of the most haunting, powerful versions of the Cinderella tale ever told. In a village by the shores of Lake Ontario lived an invisible being. All the young women wanted to marry him because he was rich, powerful, and supposedly very handsome. But to marry the invisible being the women had to prove to his sister that they had seen him. And none had been able to get past the sister's stern, all-knowing gaze. Then came the Rough-Face girl, scarred from working by the fire. Could she succeed where her beautiful, cruel sisters had failed? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/avant-garde-books/support

After reading an article by David Shannon and Chuck Miller of Bain & Company about “Closed-Loop Savings Verification” processes (CLSV) in other industries, I discovered that this industry best practice also mirrored what is happening in healthcare. More and more, hospitals, systems and IDN's CFOs are requiring their supply chain professionals to verify their projected savings on every savings initiative. In my opinion, this is because too often savings are reported by supply chain management to CFOs that never hits their healthcare organization's bottom line. To avoid this from happening at your healthcare organization, here are three powerful tactics to ensure your healthcare organization has a foolproof “Closed-Loop Savings Verification” process that works
