In 2019, I joined a group of students from Texas Tech on a five-day bikepacking trip through Big Bend Ranch State Park. That trip is where I met Anna Claire. On the morning of day two, she and I sat down to record Episode 6 of the Bikes or Death Podcast. That conversation provides important context for today's episode, as it showcases AC's longstanding love for Big Bend. We play a clip from it in today's show, but the full episode is worth a listen if you want to join us on a journey through Big Bend in a pre-COVID world. Fast-forward seven years. Anna Claire is now a resident of Terlingua, Texas, which sits on the doorstep of both Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park. As a result, she has had a front-row seat to the border-wall activity happening throughout the region. A full-time photographer and passionate lover of the outdoors, especially Big Bend, Anna Claire couldn't sit idly by. She picked up her camera and began documenting what was happening. It wasn't long before a coalition of residents and allies joined her to form No Big Bend Wall, a nonprofit organization established to inform, educate, and fight the construction of a border wall in Big Bend. While today's episode deviates from our typical bikepacking fare, it does so for a very real and important reason. Our public lands are under attack. We as trail users, outdoorsmen, and adventurers are able to enjoy these places because public lands were protected by those who came before us. Throughout history, when those lands have come under threat, coalitions have formed to defend them. Now it is our turn. Today's episode isn't about politics. It is about one of our nation's most sacred outdoor sanctuaries being under attack. Big Bend needs you right now. In this episode, Anna Claire breaks down some of the misinformation circulating online. We discuss the real-world implications of the proposed wall, explore alternative solutions, and provide tangible ways you can take action to help preserve Big Bend and keep it unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. TAKE ACTION Visit No Big Bend Wall to take a deeper dive into the topics discussed in todays episode and take action where you can! No one can do children's ministry alone. How does a children's ministry staff shoulder the weight of discipling the people under their care? There is an art to recruiting, placing, supporting, and developing serving partners to care well for our children and families. We also want them to become an integral part of a discipleship ministry team and find a place of belonging themselves. In this workshop, recorded at the 2025 Rooted Conference in Chicago, we examined practical ways to collectively share both the burden and privilege of ministry in the local church. Melanie Beasley believes ministry is an art. She is the Children's Ministry Director at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville Tennessee, bringing to her role more than 15 years of experience in education, curriculum development, and Children's Ministry, split between Birmingham, Chicago, Hong Kong, and Tennessee. Her passion in ministry is to disciple and care for both children and families in the church as well as the ministry partners she and her staff team recruit, develop, equip, and lead. She and her husband and children live in Franklin, Tennessee, with her puppy, Penny. On this episode of Little Column A, Little Column B, hosts Will Alimonos and Zach Bishop kick things off with one of the strangest stories of the summer—a man climbing into a septic tank to retrieve a pair of prescription sunglasses—before diving headfirst into one of the wildest NBA offseasons in recent memory. The conversation centers on blockbuster trades and league-shaking roster moves. Will and Zach break down Charlotte's decision to reset the franchise, including LaMelo Ball's move to Minnesota, the Miles Bridges trade, and what the Hornets' new direction means moving forward. They discuss how LaMelo fits alongside Anthony Edwards and whether the Timberwolves have finally assembled a true contender. The hosts then examine Memphis' decision to move on from Ja Morant, Portland's new-look roster, and whether the Grizzlies successfully accelerated their rebuild. Milwaukee's stunning decision to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami also takes center stage, with Will and Zach debating whether the Heat have emerged as the team to beat in the East and whether the Bucks received enough value in return. Draft night analysis follows, including reactions to Cameron Boozer, Oklahoma City's and San Antonio's selections, surprising team strategies, and which franchises reached or found value. The discussion expands into LeBron James speculation, Anthony Davis rumors, Boston's long-term outlook, Jalen Brown trade chatter, and whether the Celtics should remain patient or make another major move. The episode closes with thoughts on Kawhi Leonard's uncertain market, Malik Beasley's gambling indictment, NFL offseason legal news, and a quick roundup of the latest World Cup action and VAR controversies. As always, expect strong opinions, roster-building debates, draft analysis, trade reactions, and plenty of back-and-forth as Will and Zach break down the biggest stories across the sports world. Why do near-death experiences seem to offer transformative impacts on individuals' lives? Genevieve hosts a discussion with Kathi Beasley from The Institute for Spirituality and Health, who recounts her own near-death experiences. Beasley speaks about the feeling of meeting loved ones in a special place and encountering a being of light. Her experience involves a powerful energy of love piercing her, altering her life's trajectory. Genevieve interprets these phenomena as an energy that exists beyond religious boundaries. They explore how these encounters provide new perspectives on life, death, and purpose. They discuss the psychological and spiritual transformations following such experiences. Supportive groups and resources for near-death experiencers are highlighted. Challenges in medical diagnosis and recognition of mystical experiences by healthcare professionals are examined. The episode underscores the value of understanding and supporting those who have undergone these life-changing events. Plan your visit to the museum today at nmfh.org and take a journey through over 30,000 square feet of fascinating history. Subscribe to The Final Curtain Never Closes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Learn more about The Institute for Spirituality and Health HERE. Key Takeaways 1. Near-death experiences often involve encounters with a profound and unconditional love, a sense of peace, and transformative impacts on individuals' perspectives on life and death. These experiences can bring a deep understanding and appreciation for life, leading to significant personal changes toward empathy and compassion. 2. Those who undergo NDEs frequently shift from a more materialistic or ego-driven lifestyle to one centered on love, empathy, and service. The experiences are often seen as a second chance, prompting individuals to lead more meaningful and purpose-driven lives. 3. Providing validation and support for individuals who have experienced NDEs is crucial. This includes recognizing and accepting these experiences within the healthcare system and broader society to offer comfort and understanding to those affected. 4. There is a notable need for healthcare providers to recognize and address the spiritual or mystical aspects of patients' experiences, particularly those related to NDEs. This understanding can improve patient care and advocacy, leading to more holistic treatment approaches. 5. Patients with rare or difficult-to-diagnose medical conditions often face significant challenges in getting proper care. Kathi's story emphasizes the importance of self-advocacy and persistence in seeking medical help. It also highlights the need for raising awareness among healthcare providers about the potential for paranormal or mystical experiences related to serious health issues. In this Timeout Q&A, Dwyane and Bob dig into fan questions covering fitness, career memories, and some real basketball debate. Dwyane credits hiking, yoga, and weightlifting for staying in shape in his 40s but admits sugar is his biggest enemy. On toughest defenders he faced, he names Ron Artest, Kirk Hinrich, Tony Allen, and Avery Bradley, with a special honorable mention for “little dudes” who were constantly up in his space. He walks through his favorite Heat seasons, his rookie year surprise playoff run, Shaq’s arrival, the Big Three debut feeling like a rock star tour, and the 27-game win streak year where the locker room was full of grown men talking family and finances. His most stressful? A god awful 15-win season and babysitting young Beasley, Chalmers, and Daequan Cook in 2008. On the 2020 Bubble Finals, Dwyane admits he briefly thought about suiting up for Jimmy Butler, but was sitting at 248 pounds on his couch and fully done with basketball. Music Credit: Khari Mateen. This is the show for you if you like "Ain't no fart sounds anymore".

The Philadelphia 76ers have so much promise in their backcourt while also have an albatross that is the Joel Embiid health situation that isn't helping this team. We've seen real good stuff from the Sixers this season, and not-so-good stuff. This week, Sean Barnard from Fox Sports Philly's The Gambler and Draft Kings joined us for a great discussion about what we've seen from this team, and where they may be heading here in mid-December.But first, the guys dove into some Eagles and NFL talk. They discussed the Eagles offensive narrative, and also talked about Philip Rivers coming back to the NFL for the Colts at the age of 44. (Approx. 5:05)From there, they got into a discussion about recent moves the Phillies have made: re-signing Kyle Schwarber and extending manager Rob Thomson until 2027. Plus, they reflected on a tweet from Buster Olney about players in the Steroid Era and how the MLB Hall Of Fame has handled that situation over the decades. (Approx. 27:05)Then they talked about whether the Sixers should look at brining Malik Beasley onto the team to help with 3-point shooting. (Approx. 41:05)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great and in-depth conversation with Sean Barnard from Fox Sports Philly's The Gambler about where this Sixers team is at as we enter mid-December. Is Nick Nurse giving Tyrese Maxey too many minutes per game? Can the team dig itself out of the 3rd quarter narrative? How has Paul George contributed when on the court? All of this and much more this week on the Table! A bitter feud between two respected families, a trial built on circumstantial evidence, and a man's death that left more questions than answers. Over a century later, the disappearance of the senator's son remains unsolved.
