Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. And today's shout-out goes to Rick Morris from Bunnell, FL. Rick, thank you for standing with us through Project23. Your support helps deliver God's Word to families across the globe. This one's for you. Our text today is Mark 5:21-24: And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea. Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” And he went with him. — Mark 5:21-24 Jesus returns to the Jewish side of the Sea of Galilee, and as usual, the crowds are already waiting. But this time, someone pushes through the crowd—not a leper, not a tax collector, not a fisherman. It's a father. And a synagogue ruler. His name is Jairus. He's a respected man. A religious leader. A person of status in the community. But on this day, none of that matters to him. The only thing on his mind is the life of his daughter—sick and close to death. Jairus doesn't send a servant. He leaves her bedside, falls at Jesus' feet, and begs: “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” This is more than desperation—it's faith. That's what faith does. It moves into and through imperfect conditions. It walks into uncertainty. It reaches through desperation—toward the only one who holds hope and healing: Jesus. Jairus didn't know how his request would be received. But he had heard about Jesus. And he knew Jesus was the only one who could help. And Jesus responds with mercy—he goes with him. Faith is often seen most clearly in our moments of desperation. The singular focus of our heart, mind, and soul in crisis directs everything toward the one object worthy of our trust. For Jairus, it wasn't a physician. It was the Miracle Worker from Nazareth. He fell at His feet—believing He could heal and save. Maybe today, you're carrying a desperate burden. Maybe it's not a daughter—but a decision. Maybe not a disease—but a disappointment. Don't carry it alone. Bring it to Jesus. Run to Him. Fall before Him. Ask boldly. And trust—He still walks with those who cry out in faith. #FaithInCrisis, #JesusHeals, #BoldBelief ASK THIS: What desperate burden are you carrying today? How does Jairus' faith challenge your own response to trials? Who or what do you usually run to in crisis? What might it look like to “fall at Jesus' feet” in your life? DO THIS: Run to Jesus today with your burden—don't delay. Speak to him out loud, laying your needs at his feet. PRAY THIS: Jesus, in my desperation, I bring my burden to You, trusting You alone can save. Strengthen my faith as I wait for Your mercy. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Run to the Father" by Cody Carnes.

In this podcast, we sit down with Rick, a seasoned farmer whose parents moved to his family farm in the 70s as a child, as part of the families succession plan. Rick now runs a self-replacing composite flock, focusing on early maturity, fat, muscle, and health traits such as worm resistance. Rick also sheds light on his involvement in the Farm Owners Academy as an accountability coach and how he's creating a legacy that his daughter can carry on in the future.Rick lives on his family farm which he moved to as a young boy in the 70's when his father took it on as part of the family succession plan. "From then on it's been a really mixed operation. Dad ran it with the approach of having many enterprises and spreading risk. We were doing the same based on that conditioning for quite a while... and soon worked out we weren't doing anything really well. [We were] just working ourselves into the ground basically."So, things had to change. "l knew what i enjoyed doing, which is the most important thing in my opinion." After attending a production day and coming across breeding values for the first time, he was blown away. "You can dial up what you want, and you can just go for it. And they work." Rick decided that was the route to take. They now have a self replacing composite flock selling store lambs and surplus ewe lambs as breeders. Genetically they focus on early maturity, fat, muscle and health traits such as worm resistance. Their challenges now are doing a better job of triplets and hoggets, with Rick saying they're 0.25 of a CS below where they'd like to be. Farming in 575mm rainfall area, footrot COULD also be a big challenge, and is why Rick farms composites. And, of course, Mark poses the question if they could have a footrot free Merino, would they? You'll have to listen to hear that answer. Rick is heavily involved in the Farm Owners Academy as an accountability coach. Something he really enjoys. Rick also covers the great efforts of volunteers after the Kangaroo Island fires. And it wasn't just the recovery effort that was a positive from the fire. "Our daughter came home and spent two years with us." Rick says he's proud of himself for not 'putting her off' during that two year period. "I worked really hard in terms of getting the right mindset and I'm proud to say that [my daughter] is on a path that will more than likely see her come home to the farm" Rick's changes in mindset, outlook and farm practices is what allows a farming family going through a successful succession, not only from Rick taking over from his father, but also creating a place his daughter wants, and can, return to.Head Shepherd is brought to you by neXtgen Agri International Limited, we help livestock farmers get the most out of the genetics they farm with. I'm not sure if everyone has someone that comes into their life and completely alters it's course forever. I did have such a person come into my life. There is a distinct line of demarcation between the time after I met this person and the time before. His name was Rick Morris. And today I hope to relay a lifetime of blessings that stemmed form his asking me one simple question one day, “can I help you?”

What do the Epistles have to say about race, racism, and justice? It's an interesting question, and as we see from this conversation from Rick Morris, they weirdly have both nothing to say directly, but tons to say when we really hear them. You won't find the word “race” or “racism” in the Scriptures; but Rick helps us see that concepts like unity in Christ, the corrosiveness of unjust and arbitrary power dynamics, and the call to pursue justice for the marginalized are deeply Biblical, and deeply relevant to our response to these questions today. Conversations and arguments on this topic are circling all-around, if you've ever wondered where someone would enter into those conversations starting from a Biblical POV, or just wondered what the Scriptures might have to say about something so important to us, you'll eat this conversation up! Enjoy the podcast! … what we now call ‘racism' is not simply, for Christians, a failure to obey one or other moral standard … for example… that we should love our neighbour as ourselves. It is deeper even than that. It is a failure of vocation… The church of the anointed Jesus, was designed from the start to be a worldwide family… Rejecting racism and embracing the diversity of Jesus' family ought to be as obvious as praying the Lord's Prayer, celebrating the Eucharist, or reading the four Gospels. It isn't just an extra ‘rule' we're supposed to keep. It is constitutive of who we are. NT Wright, Undermining Racism ... Judgement and curiosity are two sides of the same coin. It is recognizing something or someone different. When we judge ourselves and/or others, we essentially put whomever we're judging in a box and that doesn't leave much room for growth. By switching that judgement to curiosity, we can still recognize it as different, but opens everything up to possibility, empathy, understanding and oneness. Rick will interview Ryan Stanley, Author of Be Patient, Be Present, Be Joyful. Ryan will discuss judgement, curiosity, and how empower a creative mindset!

Rick with interview Greg Spillane. Greg will discuss the correlation between high-level athletics (Pro / College) to a work environment. The same traits that a great coach/team has translated to running a company and building a high performing culture. Athletics is the most important influence on Greg's professional career. It showed him how to work hard and compete. It should be the value of hard work and how nothing is entitled. It taught him to be coachable and absorb feedback, and it showed him how to always show up on time and prepared. Greg works very hard to build a team environment with the companies he runs and many of the traits that are found in Championship teams can be found in a high-performing company.
R2 Consulting, LLC was founded in 2009 by Rick A. Morris with a simple purpose: build a consulting company that would innovate and inspire the project management industry to enable the value of project management. Using companies such as Dell and Southwest that were unafraid to break the mold as inspirations, Rick used his vast experience in consulting at previous organizations such as GE, Xerox, and CA to build an organization that challenges the traditional consulting models. R2 works diligently with its Clients to ensure that engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and with the highest levels of customer satisfaction and self-sufficiency. The goal of R2 Consulting is to make every hour spent working for a client a valuable hour. R2 is technology and platform agnostic and is unique in that while its consultants are very technology savvy, they were also C-level executives and project sponsors of the platforms that they support. This means that when they lead implementations, their consultants truly understand the business needs and ramifications of decisions rather than being interested, like so many other firms, in simply billing as many hours as possible without taking responsibility for whether or not the client is actually happy with the business results of the product’s use. The client base for R2 Consulting includes companies from various industry sectors including Healthcare, Retail, Government, Insurance, Clinical Research, Construction, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Entertainment, and many more. They have serviced several Fortune 50 clients as well as start-ups proving no company is too big or too small to benefit from their expertise. Their approach for implementations is based on a three tier philosophy: • Foundation (Crawl): Establish a common understanding of terms, process, and common habits. • Automation (Walk): Leverage technology investments to automate communications and tasks to ensure the greatest level of productivity • Innovation (Run): When the first two levels are achieved, then the organization can truly be innovative in tools and techniques by ensuring that business data is available, quantifiable, and actionable. www.rsquaredconsulting.com
