April 19, 2025 Daily Devotion: "Living for the Lord: Our Bodies His Purpose" 1 Corinthians 6:13 (ESV) "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. In our journey of faith, this verse from Paul reminds us of the significant purpose and value of our bodies. While Paul uses the analogy of food and the stomach to illustrate deepertruths, he is ultimately emphasizing that our physical bodies carry a greater weight—they are intended for the Lord. 1. *Purpose of the Body*: Just as food is designed for physicalsustenance, our bodies are designed for a spiritual purpose. They are instruments to serve God and to reflect His glory in the way we live our lives. This prompts us to consider how we respect and honor our bodies as creations of God. 2. *Fight Against Temptation*: The verse also contrasts the body's purpose with the serious nature of sexual immorality. Understanding that our bodies belong to the Lord encourages us to avoid activities that diminish our spiritualintegrity. This is a call to holiness and living in accordance with God's will, prioritizing our relationship with Him over fleeting physical desires. 3. *Transformation Through Christ*: As Christians, we acknowledge that our identity in Christ changes how we view our bodies and our actions. Romans 12:1 urges usto present our bodies as “a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” This act of devotion pleases God and allows us to be transformed and renewed.
Stop Living for the Lord Duane Lawernce The conversation centers around a profound and controversial premise: the idea that the conventional approach of "living for the Lord" may inadvertently obstruct believers from experiencing true freedom in Christ. He introduces Duane Lawrence, an influential figure in Christian ministry and the author of "Stop Living for the Lord." Through his work, Duane seeks to liberate individuals from the burdensome cycle of religious performance that often leaves them feeling inadequate. He emphasizes the radical shift in identity that occurs upon being born again, arguing that believers are not defined by their sins but rather by their new creation in Christ. This episode promises to challenge listeners' perspectives on faith, urging them to embrace a relationship with God that transcends traditional expectations and performance-based acceptance.Takeaways: Pastor Bob Thibodeau emphasizes the importance of understanding one's identity in Christ, as it fundamentally transforms the believer's relationship with God and their perception of sin. Duane Lawrence's book, 'Stop Living for the Lord,' challenges traditional religious mindsets and encourages believers to shift from a performance-based faith to a relationship-based faith with God. The discussion reveals that many Christians struggle with the concept of being accepted by God based on their actions rather than their inherent identity as beloved children of God. Through personal testimonies, it becomes evident that discovering true freedom in Christ allows individuals to break free from the cycle of guilt and religious performance, leading to a more fulfilling spiritual life. The podcast underscores that the message of salvation is not about what one does for God, but rather about allowing God to work through the believer, emphasizing rest instead of striving in faith. Listeners are encouraged to study scripture deeply rather than just reading it, fostering a more profound understanding of God's design and intentions for their lives. Acts 21:1-16 Paul’s last section of his journey to Jerusalem teaches us that living for the Lord involves more than just a casual commitment to Christ. It requires the support and encouragement of the church and a persistent, personal pursuit of Jesus regardless of the cost.

Are You Surrounded By People Not Living for the Lord? How to Honor God Despite Your Environment: Psalm 26 In Psalm 26, David shows us the best response when we are surrounded by what feels like enemies and hypocrites. While it can sometimes be so hard to live for the Lord when others around us aren't, this Psalm reveals the best way to walk in that tension. I pray this episode blesses you. Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast. Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer. Text: 1 John 2:15-17There are many in our culture today who profess to be Christians. However, we can all profess many things whether they are true or not. In this passage of Scripture, John points us to the “love test.” He is asking a very pointed question to reveal if our profession is true. The question is simple, “Who do you love?” Do you truly love Jesus, or do you love the world? We invite you to listen to this message today, examine your life, and answer the question honestly. This is a test you don't want to take lightly and certainly don't want to fail. Sermon Notes Discussion Guide
