If you're wondering why your email subscribers read your emails but don't actually click on anything, this episode might hit a little close to home (in the best way!).Allison breaks down why email clicks aren't just a metric, they're a behavior you need to train. Because if the first time you ask your audience to click is when you're asking them to buy, you're already behind. In this Email Empire episode, you'll learn how to intentionally build a culture of clicking inside your email funnel so sales feel like the natural next step, not a big leap. TAKEAWAYS:Clicking isn't just a performance metric, it's a trust signal. Every time a subscriber clicks, they're showing that they believe what you're sharing is worth their time and attention. The first opportunity to train click behavior starts immediately on your lead magnet's thank you page. A strategic tripwire offer can introduce your audience to taking action right away by buying from you.Delivering your lead magnet through email (not just on the thank-you page) creates an early habit of opening and clicking in your emails.A strategic Email Nurture Sequence should send readers somewhere intentionally (like short face-to-camera videos on your website) to deepen trust and build engagement. When you consistently invite small clicks before your pitch sequence, buying becomes a continuation of an existing behavior instead of a brand-new ask.LINKS YOU MIGHT FIND HELPFUL: Check out the blog post that accompanies this podcast episode for more details and resources.Listen to episode 469, The Real Metric That Drives Email Sales, and episode 471, How to Improve Your Email Click Through Rate, to learn more about email click through rates.Want to learn how to strategically set up a tripwire on your lead magnet's thank you page? In this episode, HeHe sits down with Dr. Kristin Lasseter to unpack perinatal mental health with a focus on postpartum anxiety (PPA) versus postpartum depression (PPD), how they differ, and when “baby blues” may signal something more. While mood shifts are common in the early postpartum days, symptoms that persist beyond a couple of weeks, disrupt sleep, bring constant anxiety or sadness, intrusive thoughts, or thoughts of death deserve real support. They talk candidly about the guilt, shame, and fear of judgment that keep many women silent, and why telling one safe person can be a powerful first step. The conversation explores common risk factors like fertility struggles, pregnancy or birth complications, and PMDD, along with the significant hormonal shift that happens after the placenta is delivered and why the brain can feel especially vulnerable during that window. HeHe and Dr. Lasseter also navigate the often-stigmatized topic of psychiatric medication during pregnancy and postpartum. They discuss why abruptly stopping medication is usually unsafe, how to thoughtfully weigh medication risks against the risks of untreated mental illness, what research tells us about breastfeeding compatibility, and what to expect when starting or adjusting treatment. They touch on newer, faster-acting postpartum depression options, therapy modalities like CBT and EMDR, and additional treatments such as TMS and ECT. The episode closes with an honest conversation about bounce-back culture, social media pressure, and choosing support systems that protect a mother's mental health. Throughout, the message is clear: evidence-based care matters, suffering in silence isn't a badge of honor, and there is no shame in using medication when it's needed. 0:00 - Introduction: Mental Health Medications in Pregnancy & Postpartum 4:36 - Postpartum Anxiety vs Postpartum Depression: Key Differences 6:01 - Normal Baby Blues vs Red Flags: When to Seek Help 9:51 - Intrusive Thoughts & Breaking the Stigma 17:26 - Medication Safety in Pregnancy: What You Need to Know 24:43 - Should You Stop Your Meds When Pregnant? 30:03 - Hormones & Mental Health: The Postpartum Crash 43:56 - Breastfeeding While on Psychiatric Medications 51:26 - How Long Should You Stay on Medication? 60:50 - Fighting the "Bounce Back" Culture & Social Media's Impact Guest Bio: Kristin Yeung Lasseter, MD is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist in Texas who specializes in Reproductive Psychiatry and Women's Mental Health. Send us a text letting us know your thoughts on today's episodeWhat if the reason your podcast isn't growing isn't because it's bad… but because you're quitting too soon?In this episode, I'm having a real, honest conversation about why so many mom podcasters stop right before things start working. Podcasting is a slow burn. It's not instant dopamine like social media. It's a compounding strategy and if you quit before the compounding happens, you'll assume it failed. If you've ever looked at your downloads and thought, “Maybe this just isn't working,” this episode is for you. Because the truth? Most mom podcasters don't quit because they're bad at business. They quit because they're overwhelmed, juggling everything, and measuring the wrong things. Here's what we're breaking down:Why podcasting has a delayed return (and why that's actually powerful)The 5 biggest reasons most mom podcasters quitWhy early growth never looks flashy but still countsThe difference between failing and simply being earlyThe metrics that actually matterWhat creates real podcast momentum (hint: it's strategy + consistency)Why giving your show a true six-month runway changes everythingIf you're in the “boring middle” of podcasting right now, I want you to know: that's where momentum is quietly building.Next Steps: ✨ Grab the free Podcast Growth Blueprint to learn how to structure your podcast to actually generate leads. ✨ Want deeper support? Ep. 429: The Science Behind Intrusive Thoughts with Dr. Katayune Kaeni aka Dr. Kat In this episode of The Birth Lounge, HeHe sits down with perinatal psychologist Dr. Kat to have the conversation we don't have enough: the real, nuanced truth about mental health in pregnancy and postpartum. They break down the full spectrum of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, and postpartum psychosis. They cover what's common, what's urgent, and what deserves immediate support. A major focus of this conversation is intrusive thoughts. Dr. Kat explains that intrusive thoughts are incredibly common, especially postpartum. They are typically unwanted, distressing, and they don't reflect your true desires. But when thoughts become frequent, graphic, intense, or begin to interfere with daily functioning (like avoiding holding your baby out of fear), that's when it's time to reach out for professional support. HeHe shares personal examples and normalizes how sleep deprivation, hormonal shifts, stress, and identity changes can amplify anxiety and intrusive thoughts, while emphasizing that struggling does not mean you are broken. They discuss: How to tell the difference between common intrusive thoughts and something more serious Why suicide is the second leading cause of death in the postpartum period When therapy and/or medication are appropriate and valid tools How to talk to your partner and loved ones about not feeling like yourself Why reassurance alone may not be enough for severe anxiety or OCD How to use resources like Postpartum Support International The importance of proactive conversations during pregnancy This episode is compassionate, evidence-based, and deeply validating. If you have ever thought, “Why is my brain doing this?” or felt afraid to say your thoughts out loud, this conversation will help you understand what's happening, and remind you that support is not weakness. It is care. You deserve to feel safe in your own mind. Guest Bio: Katayune Kaeni, Psy.D. PMH-C, aka, Dr. Kat is a perinatal mental health certified psychologist, author of The Pregnancy Workbook: Manage Anxiety and Worry with CBT and Mindfulness Techniques, and host of the Mom & Mind Podcast, the longest-running perinatal mental health podcast since 2016, covering perinatal mental health personal stories and expert interviews. What if the story behind Lyme disease isn't as straightforward as we've been told? I'm sitting down with Dr. Sam Bailey, medically trained physician, researcher, and co-author of Virus Mania, to explore one of the most debated diagnoses in modern medicine. Instead of accepting assumptions, this conversation looks closely at the scientific foundations behind Lyme disease, testing, and the narratives many people never think to question. We explore: • The history behind the Lyme disease diagnosis • How Lyme disease testing actually works • The difference between correlation and causation in medical science • Why antibody testing may not mean what many believe it means • The psychological impact of receiving a diagnosis • The terrain perspective on chronic illness Dr. Bailey also shares why many people feel trapped by medical labels and how shifting the focus from pathogens to terrain, environment, and lifestyle can open the door to deeper healing. If you've ever been diagnosed with Lyme disease, struggle with unexplained symptoms, or want to understand health beyond the conventional narrative, this episode will challenge you to think differently. Because sometimes the most important step toward healing is asking better questions.
Running a bar or restaurant right now isn't just hard, it's overwhelming.Costs are up, regulations keep shifting, and somehow you're still expected to master tech, lead a team, control inventory, and deliver unforgettable service at the same time. The truth? Most owners were never taught the business fundamentals before jumping in and the failure rate shows it.In this episode, Jay Ashton and Domenic Pedulla, hosts of the Late Night Restaurant Podcast, share what they're seeing from the front lines of hospitality across Canada and beyond. They break down government pressure, rising alcohol taxes, tech resistance, lack of execution, and why education (not hustle) is the real separator between operators who survive and those who shut their doors. If you care about profitability, longevity, and building a bar or restaurant that doesn't become another statistic, this conversation will challenge the way you think about running your business.Connect with Jay and Domenic and check out the Late Night Restaurant Podcast

In this episode, I'm diving into the small (but powerful) shifts you can make in your content so your audience feels seen, understood, and validated instead of pushed, pressured, or pitched at. Inside this short + punchy episode, I share: • How to get "surveillance camera specific" with your audience's real-life struggles • Why mirroring your audience's exact language is a game changer • The unexpected way to write a sales email that doesn't feel salesy at all (hint: think love letter, not launch mode) If you've ever worried your content sounds a little too "buy my thing", this one's for you.

TAKEAWAYS:Most people scroll straight to the PS before reading anything else, which means that space is prime real estate, not an afterthought. If your most important link isn't there, you're missing easy clicks. If your click-through rate is low, it's likely not because your audience “isn't interested”, it's because you're not strategically positioning your calls to action throughout the email.Diagnosing low clicks isn't just about tweaking subject lines. What are the most common reasons for a home birth transfer? Is every transfer an emergency? If you've found yourself wondering about this, you're exactly where you need to be. In this episode of The Birth Lounge, HeHe sits down with birth doula, childbirth educator, business owner, former teacher, and MSW student Jen Walts to talk about something that doesn't get discussed enough: creating a thoughtful transfer plan to support a smooth, patient-centered, trauma-informed transition from a home or birth center setting to the hospital if the need arises. Because here's the truth: planning for transfer isn't planning for failure — it's planning for safety, flexibility, and peace of mind. HeHe and Jen walk through why transfer planning matters and encourage parents to ask their midwife about transfer timing and transfer rates (and why a rate of zero can actually be a red flag). They gently reframe transfer as a responsible, informed pivot when circumstances call for additional support. This conversation covers common reasons for transfer, like maternal health, baby's health, and access to additional tools such as pain management (including epidurals), assisted vaginal delivery options, and postpartum repair. They also explore how fear of the hospital can complicate transfer, the importance of understanding the “why” behind birth location choice, how a transfer can impact the nervous system, and the role of surrender and flexibility when a birth plan changes. Jen recommends developing a hospital backup birth preference sheet, including a shorter “top 10” list of non-negotiables to share with the receiving team, with examples such as immediate skin-to-skin, backup skin-to-skin plans if separation occurs, delayed cord clamping, newborn feeding preferences, and cesarean-specific requests. Guest Bio: Jen has been a birth doula, childbirth educator and business owner for five years. She taught high school for ten years and is now pursuing her second Masters degree. In this episode, I sit down with my friend Jacqlin — published author and romance reader — to talk about something I've wanted to explore for a long time: how writing intimate stories can deepen connection in marriage. We talk about: Why erotic writing can feel more vulnerable than sex The difference between sharing your body and sharing your private thoughts How to overcome fear of rejection Practical scaffolding and ideas for writing your first spicy story Boundaries, motivation, and what NOT to do Why your "why" matters more than the spice level Jacqlin even shares a sample story at the end of the episode (with a content warning), so you can hear how tenderness and connection can coexist with passion. If you've ever wondered: Where do I even start? Is this appropriate in marriage? What if my spouse rejects it? Could this actually bring us closer? This episode will give you clarity and courage. Sex isn't just about bodies. It's about inviting your spouse into the private parts of your mind and heart. And that can be transformative.

The Nancy Guthrie case hit critical mass today with two developments that change the investigative picture entirely.Savannah Guthrie broke more than a week of family silence with an emotional Instagram video offering $1 million for information leading to her mother's "recovery"—bringing total available rewards past $1.2 million. The FBI simultaneously asked the public to stop flooding tip lines with theories and well-wishes, a sign that investigators are drowning in noise while hunting for signal. But the bombshell came from law enforcement sources confirming that the FBI's doorbell camera images were captured on multiple days. The image showing the suspect without his backpack or holster was taken before February 1st—meaning the suspect allegedly visited the property, saw the camera, and retreated before returning with a plan to neutralize it.Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta joins True Crime Today to analyze what this revelation means. Prior visits establish premeditation and planning—exactly what prosecutors need to pursue the most serious charges. But the Pima County Sheriff's Department is publicly pushing back, calling the two-day theory "purely speculative" despite multiple law enforcement sources confirming it to reporters. We also dig into the DNA challenges. Sheriff Nanos admitted the mixed samples at a Florida lab are hitting snags, and his department currently has no names under active investigation. Every physical evidence lead—the backpack, the gloves—has gone cold. Genetic genealogy remains the best hope, but that's a weeks-to-months timeline.Bob Motta explains what happens when high-profile investigations reach this phase and what we should realistically expect as this case enters week four.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? This week would be my Dad's birthday. If he was still here, spice cake with thick caramel frosting would be in order, and a beautiful cross country ski outing through the snowy forests of Duluth. He taught sociology at the University of Minnesota when I was growing up. Once, while teaching a weekly three-hour Monday-night class, he dressed as a different famous sociologist every week to help get his students interested in the history of his discipline. Isn't that nice? Over the course of his career, he was voted both adviser and professor of the year at the university by his students. There was always a new sociology book lying around our house, with half the text underlined and his untidy notes scrawled in the margins. Whatever had just come out, he had it. He crafted new courses about the civil rights movement, religion in Northern Minnesota, and corporate corruption, to name a few, trying to make sure his classes taught both what he thought was important for students to know more about AND what was current and interesting to them. He took his students to Chicago by train over spring break many times to study the city and its neighborhoods, arranging police ride-alongs (since many of his students were planning to become police officers) and museum visits. He offered extra credit to anyone who would challenge social convention and stand up on a public bus to sing the National Anthem. More than one student boarded a bus with a friend ready to videotape and then changed their mind, realizing just how strong the pull of convention really is. He invited students to examine the role of technology in their lives - way before rejecting screens was all the rage - with his assignment to watch someone else watching T.V. for an hour. I thought about Dad this month as I read Harvard School of Education professor David Perkins' book, Make Learning Whole. Perkins asks educators not to let school become "a bag of information" (173). It's easy to see how that could happen. Students can graduate in a voluminous swirl of facts. Facts from five or six subjects times twelve years. Facts that often got crammed into corners of the mind awaiting tests. Kids could easily leave high school, or even college, with a backpack of facts and very little understanding of how to use them. My Dad didn't let that happen. He had his Sociology of Religion students out in the community visiting different centers of faith and learning about their history and practices. He had his criminology students riding in police cars to learn from actual police. He had students questioning and challenging social norms on buses and in living rooms as they learned about how sociology works. When he had to lecture late on a Monday night to quickly cover the history of sociology, he did so in a costume, trying to help the voice of a historic sociologist come to life through his impersonation. Perkins calls for the idea of learning in a real context, devoting his book to a framework in which students experience the real-world work of a discipline on a level that's reasonable for them. Throughout his book, he calls it "playing the whole game at the junior level." There's a lot to it, and I'd really recommend the book, but at the crux, it's this: kids practice baseball skills so they can play the game. They're willing to play catch, step in the batting cage, and practice their slide because they know they're building up to something that matters to them. In school, we can offer the same thing. Skill practice embedded in a context that's meaningful to our students. Maybe that means researching ethical AI use and presenting solutions to the teaching faculty. Maybe it means writing narratives they eventually enter into the New York Times memoir contest. Maybe it means interviewing local business leaders, learning about graphic design and website construction, and then creating a tourism website for their small town. There are so many ways to bring the real-world work of English into the classroom, and this week, I just want to highly recommend that you plan a whole game of your own. Source: Perkins, David. In this episode of The Birth Lounge Podcast, HeHe is joined by Tracy aka Modern Day Midwife (a hospital-based midwife in Arizona with a NICU background) for a candid, behind-the-scenes conversation about the realities of modern healthcare. Together, they unpack how the U.S. healthcare system is failing both patients and providers, from provider burnout and lack of mental health support to the pressures of hospital politics, insurance reimbursement, and productivity quotas. They explore the difference between “Medicine 1.0” (acute care) and “Medicine 2.0” (preventative care, functional medicine, wellness), and how insurance-driven, fee-for-service models often prioritize sick care over true health. The result? Confusing medical bills, rushed care, poor patient experiences, and providers who are stretched thin despite doing deeply meaningful work. HeHe and Tracy dive into the unique challenges facing women's health, maternity care, and birth: over-medicalization, the cascade of interventions, the limits of 10-minute OB-GYN appointments, maternity care deserts, and the need for individualized care, informed consent, and continuity of care. From ACOG guidelines to ever changing evidence and research, they explore possible solutions including a midwifery-led model of care, better transfer systems for home birth and birth center patients, coverage for doulas and health coaching, and shifting consumer demand away from traditional insurance and towards alternatives like health shares. Tracy shares her exciting vision for an integrated wellness hub that could include midwifery, obstetrics, pelvic floor PT, lactation, chiropractic care, and community-based health supports, and ends by sharing how to connect with her at Premier OB GYN in Phoenix and via Modern Day Midwife online and on Instagram. 00:00 Why Healthcare Breaks Providers 02:24 Burnout and Speaking Up 04:59 Fear and Privilege in Advocacy 07:18 Who Supports Clinicians 12:32 Medicine 1.0 vs Prevention 17:25 Billing Confusion and Fee for Service 19:06 Burn It Down or Reform It 23:55 Disrupting Insurance and Incentives 26:49 Birth Care Needs a New Model 29:36 Preeclampsia Prevention Debate 30:47 Rethinking Maternity Care Roles 32:04 Money in Wellness Care 34:55 Building a One Stop Birth Hub 37:43 Continuity Across Birth Settings 41:45 Evidence Based Medicine Reality Check 47:56 ACOG Guidelines vs Individual Choice 53:23 Demanding Individualized Care 55:11 Rebuilding Healthcare and Provider Support 56:59 Where to Find Tracy 58:15 Closing Thanks and Resources Guest Bio: Meet Tracy Burns, Board Certified Nurse Midwife. Each April, as Virginia comes into bloom, a remarkable tradition unfolds. During the third week of the month, private homes and gardens, many rarely open to the public, welcome visitors in celebration of beauty, place, and history. In this episode of Grandma's Silver, I sit down with Karen Ellsworth, Director of Historic Garden Week, and Virginia Gillock, Board Member and Chair, to discuss the origins and evolution of this nearly century-old tradition. We explore the Garden Club of Virginia's founding vision, why the event has endured for generations, the deeply place-based nature of the tours across Virginia, how gardens tell stories that architecture alone cannot, and what visitors can expect this year. From floral arrangements and front-door hospitality to the anticipation of spring across the Commonwealth, this conversation highlights what makes Historic Garden Week so special, and why 2026 marks a particularly meaningful moment in its history.RESOURCES:Learn more about Historic Garden Week here, including how to purchase tickets.Follow along on Facebook and/or Instagram to stay updated on events, photographs, and more.Interested in the book recommended by today's guests? Heather Pettey is feeling a little "lighter" today—literally! After months of Dr. Carol Lynn's gentle (and not-so-gentle) medical nudging, Heather finally tackled her colonoscopy screening this morning. Fresh off the procedure and still feeling the peace of mind, she's joined by Dr. Carol Lynn to pull back the curtain on an appointment most women in midlife love to cancel. In this episode, your BFFs get up close and personal about why this screening is a total game-changer for your health. With the recent news of actors like James Van Der Beek facing colorectal cancer at a young age, the conversation has never been more urgent. We're stripping away the awkwardness to discuss the "why," the "how," and the "holy grail" of tips to make your prep night as painless—and glamorous—as possible. In This Episode, We Discuss: The "Why" Behind the Screening: Dr. Lynn shares heartbreaking stories of friends diagnosed at 45 and 51, and why the screening age has officially been lowered. Denial vs. Detection: Why we justify changes in our bodies and how to overcome the fear of "finding something." The BFF Survival Guide: Heather and Dr. Lynn's personal hacks for the prep process (yes, including the "Straw Trick"). Bathroom Spa Essentials: From the "barrier method" to the specific toilet paper that will save your skin. The Liquid Diet Masterclass: The savory savior of Chick-fil-A broth and the mystery of the elusive banana popsicle. Our Top Prep "Hacks": The Straw Trick: Use a wide straw, place it at the back of your tongue, and bypass those salty/medicinal taste buds entirely. The "Savory" Savior: Don't just stick to sweet popsicles. Strain the broth from Chick-fil-A chicken noodle soup for a flavorful, salty alternative to plain store-bought broth. The Wardrobe Choice: Skip the long nightgown (it's a hazard!) and opt for soft, oversized pajamas with an easy waistband. The "Barrier Method": Apply Vaseline or diaper rash cream before the prep starts to prevent irritation. The "Grown-Up" Treat: If your doctor allows, a cup of black coffee on the morning of the procedure (before the cutoff) can be the energy boost you need to get through the finish line. Key Takeaways for Your Health: "Your health is your greatest wealth. If you've been staring at that referral on your fridge for six months—this is your sign to call." — Dr. Carol Lynn Early Detection Saves Lives: Most insurance covers 100% of screening colonoscopies because they are preventive. Don't Go It Alone: Ensure you have someone with you to prevent falls or fainting due to dehydration or volume loss. Be Your Own Advocate: If your bathroom habits change, don't ignore it. Talk to your doctor immediately. Resources Mentioned: The "Throne" Station: Medicated wipes (Tucks), flushable wipes (use with caution!), and the "barrier" cream of your choice. Clear Liquid Favorites: Lemon and Banana popsicles (if you can find them!), clear bone broth, and black coffee. Connect with your BFFs! What if your blurry vision isn't an eye problem… but a brain problem? For decades, we've been told that 20/20 eyesight equals perfect vision. But eyesight and vision are not the same thing — and that misunderstanding may be quietly affecting your focus, your child's learning, your screen fatigue, and even post-concussion recovery. In this episode of Know Better | Do Better, I sit down with neuro-optometrist Dr. Bryce Appelbaum, founder of MyVisionFirst and creator of Vision Performance Training and ScreenFit™, to unpack the powerful connection between the eyes and the brain. We explore why prescriptions often get stronger year after year, how screen time is reshaping visual development, and why functional vision problems are frequently misdiagnosed as ADHD, dyslexia, or attention disorders. Dr. Appelbaum has worked with thousands — from struggling students to elite professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, and Olympians — helping them rewire the eye-brain connection to improve clarity, confidence, and performance. We also discuss: • Why 20/20 doesn't mean your visual system is healthy • The hidden impact of screens • Concussions and vision recovery • Motion sickness and sensory overload • Nutrition and inflammation's role in eye health • Practical ways to strengthen your vision in just minutes a day If you've ever experienced headaches, declining prescriptions, reading fatigue, or screen overwhelm — this conversation may change how you see your health. Because when you understand vision… you unlock potential far beyond glasses. ✴️ Connect with Dr. Appelbaum on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram
Why do your numbers look right… but your bar feels off?Your labor's tight.Margins look healthy. The menu's optimized. On paper, you're doing everything right. But data is transactional. It tracks sales and costs. It doesn't track loyalty. It doesn't measure vibe. And it won't tell you when you're optimizing the life out of your bar.Cutting a low-margin item might improve percentages. It might also hurt long-term relationships. In this episode, we break down the blind spots of data-driven bar management and where gut instinct still matters. If your spreadsheet says you're winning but something feels off, this one's for you.
You've been obsessing over your email open rates, but they're not the metric that actually makes you money. In this episode, Allison Hardy breaks down why your click rate is the real MVP of your email funnel, and how to improve it without rewriting every email you've ever sent. If your list isn't clicking, they're not buying...and that's a problem you can't afford to ignore. TAKEAWAYS:Clicks—not opens—are what drive sales and signal positive engagement to email providers like Gmail. If you're not training your email list to click early and often, asking them to click to buy later will fall flat. The PS section is prime real estate, don't let it go to waste without a clickable link.Placing your link multiple times (including near the top) boosts the chances your reader will actually take action. How you invite the click matters just as much as where it goes—clarity, variety, and benefit-focused language are key.LINKS YOU MIGHT FIND HELPFUL: Check out the blog post that accompanies this podcast episode for more details and resources.Want to learn more about creating a culture of clicking in your email funnel? Why are guests leaving earlier than you think they should?Your pricing's solid, the drinks are good, the team's doing their job and still, tabs are closing after two rounds. Most operators assume it's a marketing issue or a menu problem, but a lot of the time it's the room itself working against you.Lighting that's too bright, music that's just a little too loud, or a space that's slightly uncomfortable can quietly shave minutes off dwell time.In this episode, we break down how to measure those invisible factors and make simple adjustments that actually show up in your sales. If you think your bar is “fine” but your numbers say otherwise, this episode is for you.

In this episode of The Birth Lounge, HeHe sits down with couples therapist and relationship coach Jonathan Van Viegen to unpack something that shows up in almost every partnership at some point: emotional dysregulation. Together, they break down what dysregulation actually means, not as a label or a flaw, but as what happens when emotions come out sideways instead of being expressed in healthy, connecting ways. Jonathan shares insights from his upcoming book, including what he's learned from working with couples in high-stress, high-conflict seasons, while also reminding listeners that regulation, repair, and connection deserve just as much attention as the hard moments. The conversation explores how expectations, self-awareness, and reflection shape the way we show up for our partners, especially during seasons like financial stress, career pressure, pregnancy, and parenting. They talk openly about communication breakdowns, rebuilding physical intimacy, and why support and curiosity matter more than “getting it right.” You'll also hear Jonathan's practical, no-fluff tools for improving communication, reconnecting emotionally and physically, and navigating hard conversations without spiraling into blame or shutdown. Yes, they even go there on the topic of scheduled sex and why it can actually support intimacy instead of killing it. This episode is a reminder that strong relationships aren't built by avoiding conflict, they're built by learning how to come back to each other with honesty, regulation, and care. Guest Bio: Jonathan Van Viegen is a couples therapist, relationship coach, and author of an upcoming book to be found in stores in 2026. With over 10,000 hours helping couples rebuild trust, intimacy, and emotional connection, he's known for his no-fluff, solution-focused approach that actually gets results. Trump has decidedly built a white supremacist army within the government. And this was always the risk when the Department of Homeland Security was created after 9-11. Influential people warned at the time that our norms would not protect us against someone who was determined to violate them using DHS. At the same time, white people are putting themselves on the line in a way that is reminiscent of the abolitionists.
