Welcome to yet another episode of "Why did you make me watch this??" Wait... No... "You Gotta See This!!"... Carolina has the reins and decided to pick the true story of the Odone family and their struggle to help their son who contracted a rare and fatal disease. The question was asked if this story was best served as a feature length film rather that a documentary and is it something you would recommend to others... tell us what you think on Twitter @UGottaSeeThisPC or to your hosts @OKInfografia and @DanMachholz.

Hard to believe we're already halfway through our George Miller series! This week Bilge Ebiri (Vulture) returns to talk about one of his favorite films, 1992's Lorenzo's Oil. Starring Susan Sarandon and Nick Nolte...with an Italian accent that somehow works...Oil may have disappointed at the box office but still got a screenplay and best actress Oscar nomination. Turns out medical dramas really work when they're made by actual doctors...who happen to be as talented as George Miller. Founding Crewmember Matt returns to add meaning to our lives with the REAL corrections that have been so sorely missed. We get called out on oopsies for films ranging from Ghost, to Batman Forever, to Lorenzo's Oil, and so much more. Erin puts some money on the ponies, but her Derby dreams get dashed. The whole crew does their best Wookiee impressions in honor of the legendary Peter Mayhew, and the less said about that, the better. Honestly, this episode can't really hold interest in the face of a fascinating franchise feast. So while the weight of a hefty dry cleaning bill slowly sinks Star Trek, we ask if velour truly is the fabric of the future. Join the debate, this week on Warped! Ep 265 - Jenni Aguilar: Evolution is Smarter Than You

Ever since we had Jon Aguilar on the show back in Episode 251, Jon has been telling me I had to have his very brilliant wife on. And so, while driving back from a friend's wedding, I stopped by Casa Aguilar in Santa Barbara and started a conversation with Jenni Aguilar. Hours later, I understood why Jon felt so strongly that that I should talk to Jenni. Coming from an entirely different angle, she had reached many of the same conclusions as I had. For me, the arrival at evolutionary thinking and a desire to mix the mental arts had come from a desire to make sense of the cultures of the world. For Jenni, the emotional driver was something much more primal: her child was hurting. After a series of traumatic brain injuries, Jenni scrambled around the available science looking for anything that might help her son. In the tradition of Lorenzo's Oil, that tremendously strong emotional experience drove her to overcome intimidation, impenetrable medical jargon and assumptions about what was medically possible. The result is that today you would never know there was anything wrong with her son. In the end, what Jenni has done, what Katie and I did with The Straight-A Conspiracy and what many of the authors who have contributed to Mixed Mental Arts is to take pieces of fractured science and made kintsugi. They have filled in the cracks with gold. In the end though, the efforts of a handful of humans are nothing compared to what the evolutionary efforts of many Mixed Mental Artists can do testing these ideas against each other and against reality. Why? Because evolutionary processes are way smarter than individual humans. Once you accept that, then you approach evolutions' solutions with an appropriate humility, try to understand what evolution has done and figure out how to work with it. A prime example of that is aligning your body in a way that supports childbirth. For more on that, you can read Jenni's superb article Pervert Kings and Childbirth at MixedMentalArts.Co

One of my dearest friends Collin Souter returns to the show to talk about one of his favorite filmmakers, George Miller.  He's a director that Collin has been singing the praises of since the very beginning, and since his latest and some might say his greatest film has received every accolade in the book, we figured it's a perfect time to discuss his entire filmography.  I have a lot of personal things to say about the brilliance of LORENZO'S OIL while we both feel that BABE: PIG IN THE CITY is right up there with the MAD MAX films.   00:00 - 04:43 - Introduction04:44 - 14:29 - Introduction With Collin14:30 - 15:22 - George Miller Song15:23 - 36:51 - 1st experience, Mad Max36:52 - 37:21 -  Road Warrior Score Snippet37:22 - 01:08:44 - Road Warrior, Twilight Zone, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome01:08:45 - 01:33:06 - The Witches Of Eastwick, Lorenzo's Oil01:33:07 - 01:33:42 - "That'll Do" - Peter Gabriel 01:33:43 - 02:15:45 - Babe, Babe: Pig In The City, Happy Feet, Happy Feet 202:15:46 - 02:37:07 - Mad Max: Fury Road02:37:08 - 02:45:00 - Top 3 George Miller Films / Outro  (stay til the very end for an amusing little Easter Egg)Be sure to visit NowPlayingNetwork.net for updates on all the shows featured on the network, including Vinyl Emergency and the recently launched Movie Madness hosted by Erik Childress.   For the next episode in about two weeks, returning champion Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com, will join me to dive into what will inevitably be the first chapter in discussing the work of the legendary Sidney Lumet!  Then only one episode will come out in March (since I'm taking a spring break of sorts), and that will be the long overdue Alfred Hitchcock extravaganza!  Send feedback to: directorsclubpodcast@gmail.com.  Thanks again for listening, subscribing, and rating the show on ITunes!RATE THE SHOW ON ITUNES:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/directors-club/id414288912
