What does it really take to stay strong into your 70s — physically, mentally, and emotionally? In this episode, I sit down with Steve Swenson, one of America's most respected alpinists, to talk about endurance, aging, and the habits that have kept him moving for decades.Steve has climbed Everest and K2, completed first ascents in the Karakoram, and summited Everest without supplemental oxygen — an experience that strips away ego and rewards preparation, judgment, and restraint. But this conversation isn't about chasing summits. It's about what Steve has learned over a lifetime of extreme environments: why endurance matters more than talent as you age, why strength training becomes non-negotiable in your later years, and why staying uninjured is often the biggest win of all.We talk about:What climbing Everest without oxygen actually feels likeHow Steve trains to stay strong and capable into his 70sWhy consistency beats intensity over the long runStrength training, sarcopenia, and aging wellPartnership, judgment, and making smart decisions under stressThis is a grounded, experience-driven conversation for anyone thinking seriously about longevity — not just in sport, but in life.---
You know about breath work. You know about cold exposure. It's a thing all the major "influencers" tell you to do. I had some skepticism myself and that's why I wanted to have this man, the original cold exposure and breath work guy on himself, Wim Hof! He is a man who has redefined the limits of the human mind and body. Known globally as The Iceman, Wim Hof has shown millions of people how to take control of their physiology through breath, cold exposure, and mindset. From climbing mountains in nothing but shorts to teaching everyday men how to regulate stress, build resilience, and reconnect with their primal strength, Wim's work challenges everything we think we know about comfort, health, and human potential. Today, we're talking about cold, breath, discipline, and what it really means to return to our factory settings as men. Stepping away from the "Jurassic Park" of local news and the "casino" lights of cable, Lionel dismantles the "Left/Right Paradox"—the trap where the left controls your speech and the right controls your thoughts. From the gritty legal realities of "Uncle Lenny's Law School" to the "existential threats" of AI and globalist agendas, Lionel challenges listeners to become autodidacts and stop relying on political complacency. Whether deconstructing the "tone-deafness" of modern politics or arguing for the legalization of drugs to destroy cartel profits, Lionel cuts through the "petty talk" to find the authentic truth in the modern "Wild West". The best short stories leave out important information but evoke it in such a way as to cause a kind of explosion of associative connections.*These are my secret rules for making that happen:Lead your listener toward a conclusion and then let them arrive at it on their own. If you state a conclusion and then try to support it with evidence, you are robbing your listener of the joy of discovery.Give your listener the new, the surprising, and the different. If you must give them old information, reframe it; give it to them from a new perspective, so that they will see it again for the first time.Leave out the parts that people skip.My Christmas gift to you is The Story of the Universe According to Roy.I call it “Way Back in the Long Ago.” You will find it at TribalGospel.comIt is an auditory opera, a campfire story of God and the Universe told under a starfilled sky by an old man who is accompanied by musicians who sit at the furthest edges of that circle of light. But your seat is closer. You feel the warmth of the fire as it dances the dance of the story, and the stars twinkle their agreement with glittering laughter. This is chapter one.Way back in the long ago, the maker spoke, and light exploded across the darkness. Energy radiated across the nothing.Time and space and order appeared from the nothing of the long ago.Bits of energy shot like shrapnel from a bomb into the grid that was created by the ordering of the nothing. Bits of energy bonded with other bits to become great lumps that went spinning across the grid.Their spinning caused these lumps to become spherical. Some of the spheres were made of gasses; ice giants and dwarfs, gas giants and dwarfs, and suns of every size and temperature were created by the energy within them.Others of those spheres became great rocks.Oxygen bonded to hydrogen so that water splashed in the hollows of those rocks. The maker smiled.Algae and moss and grass and trees emerged, and the maker smiled again.Winged creatures darted through the air and swimming creatures darted through the sea, and the maker smiled again. And then creatures appeared on the rock itself. Creatures appeared on the land. The maker looked at us and decided to make us into little makers with the power to choose whatever we would choose. We have the authority to say “yes,” and the authority to say “no,” as we stare into the eyes of the maker. The maker gave us this watery rock we live upon, and complete authority over it.We have the freedom to be guided by our choices. We are no longer the captives of our instincts. The maker is not held captive by time and space. The maker created time and space from the nothing. It is only we – you and me – who measure time and space. Our history of deciding for ourselves and living with the consequences has not been a good history.Seven billion of us are crammed onto a rock that circles an 11,000-degree fireball as it shoots through the nothing… at 52 times the speed of a rifle bullet. We are passengers on a world spinning out of control.Having wrongly been told that the maker is in control, we blame the maker for every sadness. You can't have it both ways. You can't have both free will and a benevolent higher power who protects you from yourself.I hope you will take an hour to enjoy

Keith Lockhart from Oxygen Forensics joins Si and Desi on the Forensic Focus Podcast to examine how remote digital evidence collection is changing investigative workflows across DFIR, eDiscovery, and corporate investigations. Drawing on recent XiB mobile training and real-world deployments, Keith explains where remote and agent-based acquisition delivers practical benefits—and where traditional hands-on methods remain essential. The discussion covers targeted versus full acquisitions, consent and governance in corporate environments, and the operational realities of collecting data across networks, jurisdictions, and time zones. It also explores over-the-air mobile collection, workstation memory capture, drone forensics, and why parser development remains a constant challenge as apps and platforms evolve. #DigitalForensics #DFIR #MobileForensics #IncidentResponse #eDiscovery #RemoteCollection #DigitalEvidence #cybercrime

Send us a textHow seasonal changes in light and dietary unsaturated fats affect circadian rhythms in mammals.Topics Discussed:Evolutionary context of circadian rhythms: All organisms have adapted to Earth's 24-hour day for survival, with internal clocks slightly offset and adjusted by environmental cues.Molecular clock mechanism: Involves a feedback loop where proteins turn on/off genes, lasting ~24 hours, regulated by phosphorylation and degradation for timing precision.Genetic variations in sleep: Families with mutations in clock genes like PER2 cause extreme morning lark behavior, altering protein stability and period length by hours.Light entrainment: Morning light shortens human clocks (average 24.2 hours) to match 24-hour days; seasonal day length changes require gradual adjustments.Food & metabolic links: Seasonal food scarcity/abundance affects clock via glucose and fatty acids competing for protein modifications, as shown in diabetic mouse models.Role of unsaturated fats: Paper finds MUFA/PUFA ratios in diet alter phosphorylation of clock proteins, speeding or slowing adaptation to winter/summer light cycles in mice.Modern environmental impacts: Artificial light extends “daytime” signals, while constant food access erases seasonal patterns, contributing to obesity and diabetes risks.Jet lag & adaptations: Sudden time shifts mimic seasonal experiments; high-sugar/fat intake may phenocopy genetic effects to aid adjustment, though not recommended for health.Practical Takeaways:Expose yourself to morning natural light to help synchronize your internal clock and improve daily energy.Consume main meals during daylight hours and avoid late-night eating to align with natural metabolic rhythms.Limit evening screen time to reduce artificial blue light disrupting sleep onset.Consider varying diet seasonally, favoring diverse, whole foods to mimic natural availability patterns for better health.About the guest: Louis Ptacek, MD is a neurologist and professor at the University of California, San Francisco. He researches inherited neurological diseases and sleep traits, including genetic variations causing extreme early rising.Related Episode:M&M 237: Circadian Biology: Genetics, Behavior, Metabolism, Light, Oxygen & Melatonin | Joseph Takahashi*Not medical advice.Support the showAffiliates: Lumen device to optimize your metabolism for weight loss or athletic performance. In part 2 of this episode of the HVAC Know It All Podcast, host Gary McCreadie continues his conversation with Jason Esteves, General Manager Americas at Seitron Americas Inc. They explore advanced concepts in combustion analysis, focusing on detecting cracked heat exchangers using oxygen changes and carbon monoxide levels. Jason explains why even a half percent shift in oxygen can signal serious issues and breaks down how combustion behaves in low-fire conditions. The discussion includes real-world examples, challenges with equipment startups, and tips for using analyzers like the NOVO. They also cover practical steps to update the analyzer's firmware for added features. Gary and Jason dive into the real process of spotting cracked heat exchangers using oxygen levels and CO readings. In this episode, Kate explores Charmed by the Devil, the haunting new Oxygen documentary built from journalist Laura Greenberg's 40-year investigation into serial killer Douglas Gretzler and the more than 500 hours of intimate audiotapes she recorded with him. Through conversations with Co-Executive Producer Lauren Flowers and Laura's nephew, actor Ben Giroux, they unpack how one of the deadliest killing sprees in American history quietly vanished from headlines, how Laura's journalistic pursuit evolved into a deeply complicated relationship with Gretzler, and what it took to shape decades of material into a coherent, ethically grounded film. Send us a textDr. Louise Owen from Royal Women's Hospital Melbourne presents the AEROPLANE trial comparing 21% versus 30% oxygen for 32-35 week infants at birth. This understudied cohort represents 80% of preterm births globally. Using cluster randomization with waived consent, the trial captured real-world practice across centers. Infants receiving 30% oxygen required less delivery room intervention including assisted ventilation, intubation, and chest compressions. Three-quarters of infants needing initial support continued requiring respiratory support beyond delivery. Both groups ultimately received average oxygen in the 50s, suggesting moderate preterm infants may behave more like very preterm rather than term babies regarding oxygen needs. Functionally Enlightened - Better ways to heal from chronic pain and illness
In this episode of the Functionally Enlightened Podcast, Sharon sits down with Brad Pitzele, founder of One Thousand Roads, to explore the powerful connection between oxygen utilization, inflammation, and chronic illness recovery.Brad shares his deeply personal health journey—from autoimmune arthritis and malignant melanoma to a later diagnosis of Lyme disease and Bartonella—and how conventional treatments failed to produce lasting healing. His search for answers led him to Exercise With Oxygen Therapy (EWOT), a modality that supports cellular energy production, detoxification, and nervous system resilience. We discuss:How oxygen metabolism breaks down in chronic infection and immune dysregulationThe relationship between oxygen availability and systemic inflammationWhy many chronic illness patients struggle with low cellular energy + “fatigue that doesn't respond to rest”What makes EWOT different from hyperbaric oxygen therapyThe synergy between oxygen therapy and red light therapy for mitochondrial supportHow oxygen-based therapy can support recovery in Lyme, autoimmunity, POTS/dysautonomia, chronic fatigue, long COVID, and implant-related inflammationBrad's story is one of resilience, curiosity, and rebuilding a life when the traditional medical model had no more answers. This conversation is especially meaningful for:Those navigating implant illness / ASIA syndromeChronic Lyme and co-infectionsPersistent inflammation or immune dysregulationNervous system recovery and mitochondrial repairAnyone exhausted by protocols that feel overwhelming or unsustainableIf you've been searching for a gentle, foundational way to restore energy and function, this episode offers clarity, hope, and strategy.

Falcon 9 Full Thrust: Densification and Barge Landings. Eric Berger describes how, following a 2015 failure, SpaceX developed the Falcon 9 Full Thrust, version 3.0/4.0. Driven by the Mars vision, they adopted densification—chilling liquid oxygen to boost density and increase payload efficiency by 10 to 12 percent. Crucially, they focused on landing the booster vertically on a moving barge, skipping steps in the reusability process. This challenge required redesigned Merlin engines and advanced avionics, leading to several learning failures as they tried to figure out how best to line up the rocket with the ship. Guest: Eric Berger.
Turn online alignment into an offline community — join us at TheWayFwrd.com to connect with like-minded people near you. Have you ever wondered if your phone is quietly rewiring your brain? In this episode, I sit down with Tristan Scott, an electrical engineer turned health researcher who's helping build healthier technology at Daylight Computer. He bridges two worlds that rarely meet: the precision of electrical engineering and the intuition of human biology. And what he's discovered is that our digital tools might be draining more than just our attention. We explore why grounding and sunlight matter more than most people realize, what really happens when EMFs meet the body's own electrical system, and why "energy efficiency" might be costing us our health. Tristan is designing tech that respects human circadian biology instead of hijacking it at Daylight Computer. Because our bodies are already electrical systems, the question is whether we're working with that power or against it. You'll Learn: [00:00] Introduction [00:10:56] The surprising link between Bitcoin, health, and personal sovereignty [00:23:04] Why grounding into your power outlet may be harming you more than helping [00:45:20] The shocking truth about electromagnetic "mind control" experiments [01:03:43] How energy-efficient design quietly removed healing infrared light from our lives [01:09:52] Why working outdoors can literally recharge your biology [01:11:43] The hidden power of cold exposure and mitochondrial uncoupling [01:13:38] Why modern environments are breaking down the body's fourth phase water [01:48:41] When sensitivity returns, your body finally knows what's real [01:55:13] The real reason children lose themselves to screens, and how to fix it Resources Mentioned: Bitcoin and Beef by Tristan Scott | Book or AudiobookThe Way Forward episode on Tuning the Zodiac & Balancing Through Sound featuring Eileen McKusick | Listen NowThe Way Forward episode on The 4th Phase of Water: The Blueprint for Biological Energy with Dr. Gerald Pollack | Listen NowThe Invisible Rainbow by Arthur Firstenberg | Book or AudiobookDanny Hamilton's SunSense | WebsiteCross Currents by Robert Becker | BookThe Body Electric by Robert Becker & Gary Selden | BookThe Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt | Book or AudiobookPollock's Paper on Oxygen is an Electron Donor | TelegramThe Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge M.D. | Book or AudiobookJoe Rogan Experience #1235 - Ben Greenfield | Spotify or AppleThe Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Jason explains how even a small shift in oxygen can mean a big issue and why looking at both O2 and CO is key. They talk through examples from real service calls and explain how low gas flow affects combustion readings. Jason shares why accurate data matters and how techs can avoid mistakes with proper analyzer checks. They end by showing how to update the NOVO tool so techs can use the newest test features in the field. Expect to Learn: How to detect a cracked heat exchanger using small changes in oxygen levels. Why carbon monoxide readings alone are not enough to confirm a crack. What happens during low-fire conditions and how it affects combustion data. How to check your analyzer for leaks or setup issues before trusting the numbers. How to update the NOVO analyzer with new features right from your computer. Here I explain the lymphatic system, a crucial bodily network for overall health and appearance. I explain how the lymphatic system works to remove cellular waste and fluid from your organs and combat infections. I provide science-based tools that support your lymphatic system for the sake of health and appearance, including: how to reduce fluid retention in your limbs, trunk or face, how to eliminate 'bags' under your eyes and brain fog, and how to improve cardiac health and longevity. Because your lymphatic system lacks a central pump, it needs the mechanical forces generated by specific types of bodily movement, breathing and pressure to circulate your lymph properly, and I explain how you can activate these. I also explain how to support optimal functioning of your glymphatic system, a brain- and spinal cord waste-clearing system active during sleep that is crucial for brain functioning and longevity, including to prevent dementia.
