B'Elanna causes a bunch of headaches for Starfleet HR. Join your psychically-stimulated hosts as they discuss groovy music, upsetting plot points, and our variable reactions to this oft-recalled episode. Plus: three doody or no doodies and at least one list! Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Voyager, so if you haven't had a chance to see it yet – beware! Next week: We attempt to answer that age-old question, "Is There in Truth No Beauty?" from Star Trek: The Original Series' shaky third season. Should be a good one! Note that this and all episodes of the It's Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids. We're thrilled to welcome back director Ralph Senensky for our deep dive of his sixth and final "Star Trek" episode, the sublime third season classic "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" When the Enterprise is assigned to transport a Federation ambassador back to his homeworld, the mission turns out to be both dangerous and delicate. It's dangerous because the Medusan ambassador's formless appearance must be contained, or the sight of him will drive anyone insane. And it's delicate because the ambassador's devoted aid, Dr. Miranda Jones, has a complex relationship with their accompanying technical specialist, Laurence Marvick, who is smitten with her. When Marvick's jealousy takes a turn for the worst, the Enterprise is sent spiraling out of control into the intergalactic void, where only thing that can save the ship is a fragile mind link between the Medusan ambassador and Mr. Spock. After producing two back-to-back episodes that were among the worst of the series, "Star Trek" rebounded in a big way with "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" In addition to featuring a deeply moving story, the episode if marked by inspired direction from Ralph Senensky, an epic score composed by George Duning and, above all else, magnificent performances from both Leonard Nimoy and guest star Diana Muldaur. If there's one thing that most -- if not all -- "Star Trek" fans can agree on, it's that the third season simply was not as good as the first two. But that's not to say that it was bad. In fact, it was better than it probably deserved to be, given that the meager budget was cut once again, and some of "Star Trek's" most talented creative forces left for good, such as Story Editor Dorothy Fontana and Cinematographer Jerry Finnerman. And then there's Gene Roddenberry himself, who distanced himself even further from "Star Trek" after NBC dumped it on Friday nights at 10pm. But despite everything stacked against its favor, Season 3 had some pretty great episodes, including "Day of the Dove," "All Our Yesterdays," "The Paradise Syndrome" and "Is There in Truth No Beauty?" Listen to how and why all these changes took place on our Season 3 Preview.Supplemental -- Season 3 PreviewYou can support Enterprise Incidents right here: https://anchor.fm/enterpriseincidents (Just think of it as a “Tip Jar”) You can follow Enterprise Incidents at: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/EnterpriseIncidents Twitter @enterincidents Instagram @enterpriseincidents Follow Scott Mantz @moviemantz on Twitter and Instagram Follow Steve Morris @srmorris on Twitter and srmorris1 on Instagram --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/enterpriseincidents/support

Is There in Truth No Beauty? was the fifth episode of Star Trek's third season to air, with a telepathic envoy's besotted colleague causing problems for the Enterprise. In this episode Gerry and Iain discuss the challenges associated with extreme beauty. When a Medusan ambassador, Kollos, comes aboard the Enterprise along with his human envoy Dr. Miranda Jones (Diana Muldaur) and one of the ship's original designers, Larry Marvick (David Frankham) it is the attractive young woman who draws the most attention, rather than the alien described as so hideous the mere sight of him would drive a human insane. It soon transpires that Marvick is jealous of Jones' assignment with the Medusan and, ignoring mandated precautions, he exposes himself to the alien without any barrier. This leads to madness and extreme jeapordy for all on board. Is There in Truth No Beauty? was directed by Ralph Senensky, the sixth of his seven episodes in the chair. The writer was Jean Lisette Aroeste, whose unsolicited script submission was purchased for the show, the first of her two credits. In this episode Gerry and Iain considered whether beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The discussion continues in the comments below and please keep in touch with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where we're @trekpodcast. You can listen to the show here on the website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Pocket Casts, TuneIn, Stitcher, Google or wherever you find your podcasts. Is There in Truth No Beauty? was released in 1968. It is 50 minutes long and originally aired on the NBC network. It can be viewed on Paramount+ in the United states, Netflix in the UK and is available on DVD and Blu Ray in other countries, including a comprehensive remastered set of all three seasons released by Paramount Home Entertainment.

Félmillió éves bezártságban és test nélkül tengeti mindennapjait Sargon, Thalassa és Henoch, akik egy fejlett civilizáció képviselőiként a felszín alatt vészelték át a saját bolygójukat romba döntő konfliktust. Az utolsó túlélők a fajuk fenntartása érdekében Kirk kapitány segítségét kérik, a robottestek építése közben azonban Henoch és Thalassa számára olyan ellenállhatatlanná válik a hús-vér test iránti kísértés, hogy az súlyosan veszélyezteti a gazdatestet szolgáltató Spock és Dr. Mulhall életét. Aktuális adásunkban az eredeti sorozat ’Visszatérés a holnapba’ című epizódjáról beszélgetünk. Rövid hírszekció: • Voyager kibeszélő podcastet indít Robert Duncan McNeill és Garrett Wang ‘The Delta Flyers’ címmel. A pilottal kezdik és minden epizódon végigmennek. A műsor május elején indul. • Online vetítést szervez a Paramount a Khan haragja számára. • A készítők Billy Blackburn-ből csináltak androidot, akinek a hosszú forgatási napot evés nélkül kellett végigcsinálnia a makeup miatt, miközben csak szívószálon keresztül tudott inni. • Dr. Ann Mulhall szerepében Diana Muldaur-t láthatjuk, aki az ‘Is There in Truth No Beauty?’ című epizódban is visszatér (Miranda Jones), a TNG-ben pedig egy egész évadon keresztül helyettesíti Gates McFadden-t, méghozzá Katherine Pulaski szerepében.

The Higher Frontier. Mysterious armored warriors have reduced the Aenar population to nearly zero. Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise must investigate this brutal and seemingly unprovoked attack with the help of Miranda Jones and the Medusan ambassador, Kollos. However, the situation escalates when the targets of the mysterious attackers expands to include other telepaths, including members of the Enterprise crew. Can the mystery surrounding these dangerous warriors be solved before more lives are lost? In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Bruce Gibson and Dan Gunther discuss the new TOS novel The Higher Frontier by Christopher L. Bennett. We talk about Commander Thelin and the Aenar, the "New Humans," a sequel to "Is There in Truth No Beauty?," the war between the Spectres and the Lords, parallels to hate groups here on Earth, ending the novel on a hopeful note, some fun references from the author, and wrap up with our final thoughts and ratings. In the news segment, we talk about the recently announced TOS novel, A Contest of Principles by Greg Cox. Welcome to Watchers of Tomorrow! A podcast where we go through the world of science fiction television episode by episode, talking about the themes, concepts, ideas, the good, the bad, and the weird. We are great fans of sci-fi and would like to invite you on our journey through the weird and strange worlds that we are to explore…   Today’s episode: How do you interact with life that is so unusual that it will drive you mad simply by looking at it? One option is to be a Vulcan I suppose, or maybe blind, or to have this really cool visors. Or you know, just don't bother and send the ship out of the galaxy. Again. ====== Who are we? Founding Crewmember Matt returns to add meaning to our lives with the REAL corrections that have been so sorely missed. We get called out on oopsies for films ranging from Ghost, to Batman Forever, to Lorenzo's Oil, and so much more. Erin puts some money on the ponies, but her Derby dreams get dashed. The whole crew does their best Wookiee impressions in honor of the legendary Peter Mayhew, and the less said about that, the better. Honestly, this episode can't really hold interest in the face of a fascinating franchise feast. So while the weight of a hefty dry cleaning bill slowly sinks Star Trek, we ask if velour truly is the fabric of the future. Join the debate, this week on Warped! Standard Orbit: A Star Trek Original Series Podcast

Season Three Top Five. Season 3 of The Original Series is not anyone's favorite season. Fortunately, there's still some good in it. In this episode of Standard Orbit, Mike and Drew each choose 5 favorite episodes from Season 3, surprisingly with very little crossover. There are several good concepts mediocrely executed. Does the whole season count as being "so bad it's good"? Is this where the anthology show concept loses its grip? Are there some genuinely good stories hiding in there?
